A Moment Of Doom

The celebration of a new era ended so quickly than Maria thought it would be. Seems like many hasn’t still yet accepted her and could not wait to get themselves out of her sight.

The big door open and people begin to walk out one after the other gossiping about the new changes in their family. Listening to their murmurings, Maria felt a rage of anger rising as they condemns her family calling them names like witches and traitors.

Of course the Alpha has ordered it but she knows it would take sometimes before they are forced to accept it or she could just make them accept it.

After the ceremony was over, she was lead into the room where she was supposed to spend the rest of her lives with the Alpha.

Maria walked around the room touching everything in sight to see if she could find a trace of her sister Janine’s presence in the same room. Almost like her, her sister was forced to spend her days in the same room with the Alpha to satisfy him day and night and sent to every war with him like an obedient dog.

She was still in the state of reminisce when the door open interrupting her and Lucky walk in with a big smile on his face. It seemed to be getting annoyed seeing a smile on his face every moment.

At first she had thought it was contagious but with the little time she had to spend with him so far, she has began to find it unpleasant, creepy and suspicious. It makes her feel unease like he was hiding or trying to do something unhealthful.

She suddenly remember Cleaven ever serious look whenever she sees him and make a comparison between the two. One was cruel and charming yet but the other feels so perverted and good.

“What are you thinking about?” Lucky asked and wave his hands in front of her eyes to gain back her attention.

When he sees her pursing her lips, he quickly bring a notepad and a pen for her to write, she took it from him and hesitate a bit before writing down.

“Can you stop smiling?” she wrote and the smile worn off Lucky’s face.

“Does it makes you comfortable?” he asked

Maria nod her head and proceed to take off the accessories on her body including the makeups that has been powdered on her face. When she was about to finish, she turn back only to see him still standing on the same spot.

She sent him a questioning gaze to ask if he wanted anything from her and he nodded before breaking his gaze on her feeling quite embarrassed.

He just wanted to see her face before he retired for the night but he ended up staring for long without realizing it. If he keeps losing control like this, he wondered how he was going to hide it from her like he promised.

“Do you need anything for the night?’ he asked turning back.

Maria furrowed her brows at the question confused what he meant by the sentence, is he asking if she needed anything to be comfortable for their first night?

She knew this was for revenge but she didn’t think this much when she accepted to sacrifice her happiness, that she would have to give her body away too. It was going to be her first and she wasn’t sure if she could really allow someone she considered her enemy and subject of revenge to get intimate with her.

It took Wendy a while to get hold of herself and decided to go back to the hall to continue the party with others. She can’t let herself beaten and pull away from the Alpha. It would only give space for the witch-like woman to steal his heart as well.

She believed all what Alpha Lucky was doing was just for the sake and good of the Dark Shade family. He only needed the Ancient Wolf in order to strengthen the power of their clan and nothing more.

He just needed a descendant and once he was done, he will see her true feelings for him and realize that she is the only one who loves and cares for him genuinely.

When she got to the hall, she met only few people that lives in the palace having a blast of fun on their own talking about how much they detest the news of their Alpha getting married to a descendant of the Leaners' family in order to secure peace for them.

Wendy smiled relieved and happy to know that she wasn’t the only one who thinks so, she decided to go see Lucky and give him some comfort for the night

However, as she open the door to the Alpha’s abode, a ball of fire throw her back and she put her hands up in defense as she hit the ground hurtfully.

She manage to get herself up and just in time to see the witch conjuring another fireball,big enough to crash the whole courtyard.

Wendy open her mouth wide agape at the dangerous power in front of her eyes, she gaze at the different being with red hairs and eyes blazing out fire furiously.

It seemed like giant witch with fangs that was drenched in blood. Wendy panicked seeing the horrifying scene and quickly try to find a way too escape to Lucky to see if the witch hasn’t hurt him already.

But there was no way as the fireball was sent at the people in the yard trying to find a way to escape the catastrophe. Wendy shifted and use her fur to protect herself against the flame but it still burnt off her skin.

Few got blasted away by the fire and ended up with bad injuries to their body, Wendy who was in a shock at how powerful an attack of hers could be stares at Maria who was laughing hard at the miserable looks on everyone’s faces.

Many bodies lie on the ground and few were groaning in agony with their bodies burnt but they are still struggling to survive. The sight of it was horrible and it makes Wendy shivers in terrible fear

Seeing there was no other way, she turn back and rush out to call for help shouting as she ran outside the palace war to get people in order to defeat the witch who has gone bonkers, destructing and killing everyone.

Immediately, they hear the cry of help and Wendy’s narration of what she saw at the Alpha’s abode, everyone matched with flamed fury to the palace to save their Alpha from the evil descendant.

They all believe that they are right for not trusting the Leaner’s claim of putting everything that happened behind them and protecting the family once again. It was for revenge against their beloved Alpha and they would not let her get away with it.

They all burst into the palace gate with loud yells of anger and were ready to attack but halt abruptly at the shocking scene in front of them.

Wendy saw the abrupt pause and push herself to the front to see what caused it and to her utmost astonishment, everywhere was clear.

There was no sight of any fireballs being shot neither was there any sign that anything happened at all. It was all clear and good like nothing really happened.

Lucky and Maria rush out hearing the noise and they were surprised to see the multitude on the courtyard.

“What is going on?” Lucky asked immediately flustered.

Everyone looked at him to see if there was any wound afflicted on him and he look perfectly fine. The Leaner descendant was also looking flustered and stared at them innocently.

“I saw dead bodies and fire being thrown by that wi…” Wendy tried to explain feeling flabbergasted by what had just happened.

She had clearly seen the witch attacking everyone and laughing with blood in her mouth but now everything looks okay.

“Apologies…we were told the palace was being attacked”

“What? How is that possible? Everything is fine here” he answered with his usual smile finding them amusing.

They look around and saw the workers and warriors looking good and believe they have deceived by Wendy and brought false news. Soon they apologized for disturbing the palace night rest and everyone starts to disperse back to their abode.

Wendy moved away from them for fear that some might pounce on her and punish her for bearing such bad false news to them. After everyone has dispersed, she walk rush over to Lucky who was still standing beside Maria in order to appeal her case to him but she was ignored.

“Go to your bedroom and take a long rest” he said and walk back in after Maria who has turned to leave as Wendy got to them.

Wendy stood at the spot in a daze feeling perplexed at what had just taken place, she could swear that it was all real minutes ago but right now she felt like has lost her mind to jealous for a moment.

Lucky close the door behind him and he broke his defense groaning in pain as he held tight to his stomach where he had been stabbed by a silver knife. He falls to his kneel and look hurtfully at Maria who was staring unbothered and unflinching at him.
