Maria wasn’t sure if it was because of hatred for Lena or because of the arrogant look she saw on her face back then in the room but as soon as she landed the hit on her face, she felt a little relieved.

Wendy who was too shock at the unexpected slap raised her hand to hit her back but stopped with her hand hanging up in the air as two riders rush to them quickly like they have watching them for long.

Maria knew she was right about Lucky putting her under watchful eyes, he must have not trusted her well and wanted the riders to keep guard on her just in case she attempt anything.

Exactly what she had expected from a blood of Victor Stan, he may pretend to be kind outside but there was no way he would fail his nature.

“This woman hit me on my face” Wendy immediately complained seeing them and stared dagger at her.

“Are you okay Princess?’ one of the riders asked and Maria frowned her face at the name.

‘Were they not here on the woman’s order? Or did she mistook the worried looks on their eyes for her?’

She didn’t believe it until one of the guards stood in front of her to protect her and the other grab Wendy’s hands putting them behind her.

“We are here to protect the Luna and not you” they informed her and the shocking face she had made Maria sniff back a laugh.

“What?” Wendy didn’t realize she had yelled and her face shrunk seeing how she was being protected.

“Alpha ordered us to always watch and protect her” the one standing in front like a shield answered.

Maria felt her heart skip a beat at the word ‘protect’ she push back her soften eyes and try to look serious while rubbing her cheek so they won’t embarrass her.

She thought he had left without caring about her getting bullied, turns out that he had already made plan to protect her even in his absence. She might not want to admit it but it felt good to have someone cared about her.

Getting that she has the upper hands now, Maria signal with her hand to the riders to bring Wendy with them and follow her. She thought they won’t understand with just hand signals but they understood her immediately which made her wonder if Lucky was responsible for that too.

Since the opportunity has freely presented itself to her, then she mustn’t let it slip away without making perfect use of it. Firstly, she want to find out who exactly she was and why she wasn’t affect at all last night and also find out if she was the woman that Lucky loves.

“What do you want to do with me?’ Wendy asked boldly showing no fear at all. The Alpha probably asked the riders to just protect her in order not to spread bad rumors about of him treating her badly, after all they had just gotten wedded.

The worst she could was to send her to work in the kitchen and nothing else, however she promised herself that once the Alpha comes back she would make sure to let him know what she has been up to.

If the fake Luna acts up now, it would be to her own advantage as she would be able to get hands on evidence of her being a bad news sooner than she thought.

“When did you start living here?” Maria put out the book for her to read but she scoff at it instead and look arrogantly at her.

“Why do you want to know that? Do you feel unease because of me?” she asked crossing her hands over her bosom.

“She’s not from here Princess, she was brought here by the Alpha” the guard that held her earlier explained.

Maria wanted to yell at him to stop calling her that but she must have minded the last sentence more that she forgot about how annoying it was. So she was really Lucky’s woman whom he has brought from outside and kept by his side.’What a delightful loyal man’ she thought and her face glowed with irritation regretting that she has stopped at just a slap.

If he had his woman living in the palace, why then did he marry her? If he was a good leader unlike his old folks . All these while, she has been right about him not being what he pretended to be on the outside.

The old woman was right once again about her not trusting him or falling for him. He only married her just for her ability like the other Alpha had done to all her past descendants.

They forced them into joining union with them and then they keep their true love beside and hidden in the palace while they make life miserable for her families, they go back later to have fun with the one they truly cared about.

He was worst then Cleaven! Atleast he didn’t pretend to care about her neither made any promises to her like Lucky did. Even though the woman he love was a witch, he publicly announce it and choose his woman over her, his mate.

Rather than pretend to be in love or care about him, he chose to reject her. But Lucky as not only played with her emotions, he had deceived her by promising her a good life and support.

Thinking about Cleaven’s rejection and Lucky’s deceit made Maria lose control of her emotions as the fury set in. She can’t believe she has been taken for a fool yet again by another man and she had stupidly believed the lies.

In her rage, the red wolf took control of her mind for a moment and she jump down from the high seat she was sitting and landed in front of Wendy who was staying down.

Her eyes light up red and her face shifted half way, she let her claws and raise her hand to slap Wendy with it.

Aibelt, before her hands could go back, she felt a air of whoosh and someone grabbed her arm to stop her. In anger, she turned to strike the person with her other hand and it was grabbed too.

She glared at Lucky who was standing in front of her holding her hands and forcefully push him away.

“What’s going on?” he asked her with his usual gentle eyes and Maria almost pluck them out.

“Why don’t you ask your woman?’ she wanted to say so much but could only bite her lips instead and walk away.

Wendy seeing that Lucky quickly divert into an act and pretended to be hurt and scared, she tried to call his name as low and pitiable as she could stand and hold down to her face that was slapped earlier.

To her surprise, Lucky ignored her cry of help, picked up the bag he had dropped when trying to save her and chose to run after Maria instead. He caught her half way to her bedroom and pull her back.

She landed right on his chest and instantly pull away from him, putting a good distance between them.

“Did I do something wrong? I was just protecting you” he told her knowing if she had slapped Wendy back then , it would increase the hate and fear of the people for her.

Maria wanted to respond to him but she left her notepad back there and growl angrily instead.

Lucky sense that and brought out a note and pen from the bag he was holding, Maria look at it and slap it away from his hand but he picked it back again.

“Why are you back so early? Did you sense your mate was in danger?” she wrote after snatching the note and pen from him.

“What do you mean? I came back because I got what I needed”

“And what’s that?” Maria wrote back

“Something that could help get your voice back” he replied.

Maria was caught off by his answer and her face blushes as she felt her heart made a dangerous somersault hearing his answer. She place her palm over her chest and turn around to hide her flustered face from him.
