August The huge stack of cast-iron pots and pans were digging painfully into my arms. I knew I should have taken two trips to make it easier to haul them, but I didn't want to be at the packhouse any more than was strictly necessary. I paused, contemplating whether I should set some of them down and come back for them after dropping off the rest. I had done my best to avoid her over the next several days.
