The morning sun streamed through the east window, making me squint against the bright light. I'd slept restlessly, and had strange dreams that I couldn't quite remember upon waking.

I flew out of bed. In my mildly disoriented state, I found my mate had momentarily slipped my mind. But it was going to be by far the best part of today.
