“You have a guest,” a voice said over the intercom. I told them to send her up.
I sprang off the couch and limped to the bedroom; my knee still ached from the fall. I slid into a pair of clean, baggy jeans and hurried to the hallway.
The moment the elevator dinged I lunged forward, my strides breaking slightly as I squealed with excitement while moving toward Celia. We hugged and jumped in circles until the maid who accompanied her cleared her throat.
