Gretchen heard voices beyond her veil of consciousness, and she struggled toward them. The anchor she’d been holding onto had disappeared at some point, and she felt like she was drowning. Dixie. Where was Dixie? Dixie.She broke the surface of unconsciousness and opened her eyes. The room was dark save for a rectangle of light coming in from the hallway.
