CHAPTER THREE ~DAPHNE~ I was so embarrassed that I felt like disappearing into thin air. But he was supposed to be having s*x with the girl, why was he at the door? I glanced at the half-open door and I could see a girl, touching herself, and moaning so loudly. I guess the guy must have been watching. “You haven’t answered me?” He frowned, shutting the door and moving outside so I wouldn’t see what was going on inside. “Um—I—I” He glanced at the box beside me. “So you haven’t even settled in and you’re already poking your nose where it doesn’t belong. Or did you do this in hopes that you are next?” “What?” His words stung my ears. “Excuse me?” “Fine,” he sighed. “All you have to do is beg and I’d let you have a piece of me,” “Are you out of your mind?” I was starting to get offended. “I knew I trespassed but now you’re doing too much,” “I can see you’re playing hard to get,” he scoffed. The door opened, and a girl poked her head out. She was a slender blonde with a towel tied around her chest. Her forehead creased in a frown as soon as she saw me. “What is going on here, Laken?” She asked, staring from me to him. Ah! Laken! So that’s his name. It suits him. “It’s nothing. I should go!” I swiftly answered and dragged my box away. I got to the end of the door and swiped my card on the door. It opened, and I walked in, my eyes feasting on my surroundings. The room was extremely luxurious yet simple. It had large windows, giving the room natural lighting and a nice view of the front of the school. There were two luxury beds, with plush soft soft-looking bedspreads and a duvet. A big wooden wardrobe rested on the wall, close to the bathroom door. I could spot a television and a fridge too. There was also a nice wall picture and a green plant in the room. “Wow!” I gasped, amazed by the luxury I was feeding my eyes with. I can’t believe I’m going to be here till I graduate. Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and a tall redhead emerged, a long towel tied around her chest. It was obvious she had just had a shower with the way her body glistened from the water droplets running down her skin. “Hi. You must be my new roommate,” “Yeah, I am. Daphne Gatlin’s the name. What’s yours?” I asked politely, a wide smile forming on my face. “Daphne Gatlin? Sounds like an old lady’s name,” My face fell at that statement. “I’m just kidding,” she chuckled. “It’s a pleasant name. It sounds very—mature,” “Okay—“ I didn’t know what else to say. “Anyway, I’m Kennedy. You can call me Ken if you want. Let me help you with your box,” I flashed her a warm smile as she helped me arrange my things in my side of the wardrobe. So far, she seems so nice and I was grateful that the universe sent a pleasant roommate my way. Growing up, I hardly had any friends so I was looking forward to making one. “I haven’t seen your face around so I’m guessing you’re new,” “Yeah, I’m the scholarship student,” “Oh!” She nodded. “I see. You already missed a semester so it may take a while for you to adjust. I’m going to help you if you want me to,” “Really?” My eyes shone gratefully. “Thank you so much,” “Of course,” she flashed me a warm smile. “There’s a welcome party tomorrow night so we are going to have some fun. Meanwhile, I can show you around,” “That would be nice, thank you,” I followed her lead as we walked out of the dormitory and all the way to the classrooms, sports ground, cafeteria, and my favorite part—the library. The Academy was breathtaking —my mind was blown away, and I constantly pinched myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming. After the tour was over, we stopped by the cafeteria to get lunch. It was mostly empty—maybe that’s why the food served on the table looked like a feast. There was too much food that it was insane to comprehend. Plus, it was a buffet, which means I get to eat as much protein as I want. “It’s because we just resumed today,” she whispered to me, noticing the perplexed look on my face. “The cafeteria is usually filled up,” “Ah!” I nodded. Suddenly, I noticed the girl who was m**********g in the dormitory. I stiffened in my seat as she walked past me. “You know her?” Kennedy glanced from me to her retreating figure. “I literally saw her m**********g with a guy in the room. I didn’t expect to be greeted with such a scene as I walked into the dormitory,” “That’s Yolanda and she’s bad news, just like her twin sister,” “Oh, so she’s a twin!” My eyes lit up in surprise. “Yeah. She and Yasmine are twins of terror so you must stay away from them. They are merciless bullies and the worst part—the school always covers them up,” “Why?” “I have no idea,” she looked left and right before nudging me closer and whispering in my ear. “There are rumors that she made a girl commit suicide,” “What?” I whispered in shock, my brows curving in surprise. “Majesty Academy is not what it seems. I don’t know much but I know it is built on darkness, secrets, and bullies. I’d advise you to lay low and stay away from the drama,” I nodded, my head filled with different thoughts. All I’ve ever heard about Majesty Academy is good things so what is Kennedy talking about?
