Chapter 4
“You don't understand.”
She looked at Luke
Then back at me.
“They're coming for you.”
My stomach tightened.
“Who?”
“The king's guards.”
“Why?”
Mara swallowed.
“Austin has accused you of stealing royal documents.”
I stared at her.
“What?”
“He told the council that you have been secretly plotting against him.”
Luke cursed.
“That coward.”
Mara continued.
“They searched your office.”
“And?”
“They found sealed military reports.”
I frowned.
“I've never seen them.”
“I know.”
Luke's expression darkened.
“They planted them.”
Mara nodded.
“Exactly.”
I felt the pieces fall into place.
Austin didn't simply want me gone.
He wanted me destroyed.
If he accused me of treason, he could execute me.
And Chelsea could become queen without opposition.
I looked at Luke.
“This wasn't about love.”
“No.”
“It was planned.”
“Yes.”
"The Blood moonlight soldiers will be here in two days to attack Starfall Castle. "
"Don't worry Mara we will be ready."
"Luke please take Mara to the guests chambers, I need to visit my father's chamber."
Luke didn't argue he did as I requested.
After about an hour after visiting my dad chambers, Luke joined me at the dinning hall.
"We need to visit my fathers home where he was born before he was thrown out, and come here to North to rebuild. "
"But I thought no one lived there anymore,."
"Well Luke my soldiers live there they never left. "
Luke stared at me in confusion but he agreed.
Silverton was not far from us as it was still here in North, we took two guards with us.
The moment my foot touched Silverpine soil, my wolf howled.
The sound echoed through the mountains.
Something answered.
One howl.
Then another.
Then dozens.
Luke's expression changed.
“What is that?”
I listened.
The pack was awakening.
Not just wolves.
Warriors.
My warriors.
I had thought they were gone.
Apparently, I had been wrong.
From the trees, figures began appearing.
One.
Two.
Ten.
Twenty.
Men and women dressed in dark armor.
Weapons in their hands.
They surrounded us.
Mara moved closer to me.
Ronan reached for his sword.
I raised my hand.
“Wait.”
The warriors lowered their weapons.
An older man stepped forward.
His hair was streaked with gray.
A scar ran from his temple to his jaw.
His eyes widened when he saw me.
He dropped to one knee.
“My Queen.”
The other warriors followed.
One after another, they knelt.
Mara covered her mouth.
Luke smiled.
I stared at the kneeling warriors.
“I am no longer Queen.”
The old warrior looked up.
“You are the daughter of our Alpha.”
I swallowed.
“My father is gone.”
“Yes.”
“Then you have no Alpha.”
The man smiled.
“We have been waiting.”
“For what?”
“For the Silver Wolf to return.”
My heart pounded.
I looked around.
“How many?”
“Three hundred warriors.”
Luke whistled softly.
“That's more than enough to start a war.”
I looked at him.
"We will be waiting for them."
The next morning my warriors we already up and ready for training. We didn’t waste anytime yesterday we all returned to Starfall Castle. My instructions were simple we take every child and women to the east side of the castle where everyone will be safe. Then we bring the fight to the main castle, where I know they will attack.
My source already told me that they will arrive at night , when no one will be expecting them.
Me and my pack will give them what they want.
We will let them enter the castle then when they're all inside , we will seal the Castle and attack.
As for me I will be inside my chambers as they expect me to be. But I won't be asleep, instead will be awake.
The training began at the training grounds.
My warriors looked sharp as if they've never stopped training.
As for me I was busy training the young new warriors with Luke.
The night come, everyone went to their positions my spys already told me that they were on their way. I went to my chambers closed the door behind.
I placed pillows under my blankets and made them look as someone was sleeping there.
After few moments I heard noise it was coming from outside. They've arrived and my soldiers were fighting.
Outside my room I heard footsteps approaching. Then the stopped on my door.
the lock handle opened and one guard from Blood moonlight soldiers got it.
He went straight to my bed and attacked with his blade on my pillows, aiming for the neck.
He then realized I wasn't there.
He turned around and saw me ready for him.
I had spent five years running away from the woman I used to be.
Tonight, I stopped running.
I stepped forward.
Luke entered breathing heavily.
He looked at me.
“Stella…”
I raised my sword.
“Stay beside me.”
His lips curved into a smile.
“Always.”
The first guard charged.
I moved.
My sword flashed through the darkness.
And for the first time in five years—
the Silver Wolf fought again.
The first guard never saw my blade coming.
He lunged through the darkness with his sword raised above his head.
I stepped aside.
His blade struck the stone wall.
Before he could recover, I twisted his wrist and drove the hilt of my sword into his shoulder.
He fell.
The second guard attacked immediately.
I ducked beneath his strike.
My body remembered what my mind had tried to forget.
The weight of the sword.
The rhythm of battle.
The movement of an opponent's shoulders before they attacked.
The sound of boots against stone.
Everything returned.
Five years disappeared in seconds.
My wolf surged beneath my skin.
Finally.
Her voice echoed inside my mind.
You remembered us.
I almost smiled.
I never forgot.
You did.
She growled.
But I forgive you.
The third guard charged.
I spun.
My sword met his.
Steel rang through the tunnel.
He was stronger than the others.
A trained royal warrior.
He pushed me backward.
One step.
Two.
Three.
Then Luke appeared beside me.
His blade crossed mine.
Together, we forced the warrior backward.
“Still stubborn,” Luke said.
I glanced at him.
“Still talking too much.”
He smiled.
“Good. You're definitely yourself again.”
The warrior attacked.
Luke blocked him.
I struck.
The guard fell.
Silence returned.
Even outside it was quite.
