Hastein gathered everyone who needed to be here. I watched Kingsley operate our system without needing any type of help. I linked Uncle Gunner, “So, the system Melanie has. Is it a copy of ours?” He answered, “With what I believe are her own improvements, yes. Am I taking some of them? Yes. Do I want to push others into other spaces by developing them? Also yes.” I snorted and left him to that.
Maddox was grumpy while Lincoln was ready for action. Luca and Robyn looked visibly excited when they spotted my mate. I couldn’t help but be proud she’d clearly run things with them before. Maddox shot me a smug look too. We enjoyed that our mates were close.
Kingsley drew my attention back with her question. I faltered, realizing Melanie used the space to let them all think that we allowed people to go out injured so it wasn’t a big deal. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt Melanie knew what the space was for.
I linked Uncle Gunner again, “See if you can find where Melanie used the injury report for what it was meant for.” He answered, “I don’t have to look. I sought out a few reports I wanted answers on and she’d held back Caine, Dax, and Hendrick one that one because they’d been hurt. Caine’s was pretty slight too.” God damn it, Melanie.
Kingsley moved on even though I could feel her and Kayda’s anger about that. I did not care that I was going to be on the outside while my mate went in, but I was damn proud of her and this plan. I also knew we’d have the whole place covered, easily.
Lithan would already be assigning someone to plant cameras inside and mics. We’d also get the outside covered. It was part of why I’d selected him for my Queen’s head Guard when Cayden announced his plans for becoming Commander. There were massive benefits to having the second to the Commander be a Guard. He knew the moves Kings would make, and even me as the Crown Prince.
I did not have to tell him what to do, he’d know the orders I’d make in certain situations and get stuff done. His nod to me confirmed that he was already on it. I linked Uncle Gunner as she talked, “Go ahead and find the dances Melanie taught my mate.” He cackled back, but I knew he would. I was certain even drunk, Melanie would catalog things like that.
Lincoln nudged me and tipped his fake hat as if he was wearing a cowboy hat. It was our sign that we wanted to go to that bar. I watched Kingsley and thought it could be a lot of fun. We easily led them there. I wondered if I would stop being surprised my mate knew things about this realm. I noticed that even Robyn and Luca looked excited.
I could easily get Alexander here with her. We might have to clear the damn bar though. He might give people headaches with how Melanie danced. I felt how at home Kingsley and Kayda felt. Kayda seemed taken aback by it while Kingsley was basking in the feeling.
I noticed Luca, Robyn, and Kingsley oriented themselves then they yelled and took off. They jumped on the damn bar. I groaned, “My Cousin’s mate totally taught them some dance on top of a bar.” Lincoln waved a waitress over, “We need drinks to soak in this awesomeness. Team Alexander’s mate is THE BEST!” I snorted but didn’t disagree.
My jaw dropped when Luca pulled out actual ballet moves. I asked Maddox, “Was he classically trained?” He answered, “Not while he was with the Shifters because it wasn’t manly but Grandma Yule Cat saw how he danced from videos he watched. She got him in gymnastics and Ballet.” Which was clear from what he was doing on the bar.
Maddox was already moving and had him on the bar. Lincoln groaned, “How does he always get everything? It’s because I’m patient, isn’t it?” I asked, “In what damn realm are you patient?” He snorted, “Clearly, this one.” I laughed and raised my glass to him and watched my mate in her element. Kingsley was feeling like she was about to do something to get to me. It was definitely going to.
Robyn got a bucket of water and I watched steam come off my mate. Lincoln asked, “Uhhh she’s literally SMOKING! WHAT THE HELL?!” The bar lost its mind over my mate, but they all faded around me because when I made it to her, it was just us here. All I saw was her. She was my future Queen and I was going to treat her like it.
When we’d sent the entire capitol into an orgie I portaled us home. I fell asleep with her and woke up to her muttering. “I can dance.” I snorted, “We already knew that. I watched you dance. Though if you see it in the past, I’m guessing you were trained. Does Melanie summon the dancers to her? How is this happening?”
She muttered, “Zafira.” Who was that? She gasped, “You’re my sister’s mate? Zaf and Ladon.” Ok, question asked and answered. She grumbled, “How many secrets did you guys keep from me? I’m not a child.” Uh oh. They really do seem to have kept a lot, then they took her memories.
I linked my dad, “Maybe ask Aiden why this sparm has her learning more than just her memories. She’s hearing more than she possibly could have in real life. She’s viewing her memory but not. If that makes sense.” He replied, “I’ll ask.” Good.
Kingsley woke up but didn’t say anything. She closed her eyes and I felt Kayda and Kingsley’s annoyance. We talked about it and she confirmed what I thought. I could understand the inclination. I kept secrets from my siblings, but I never kept it a secret if they dated someone I didn’t like.
I got her and Kayda laughing. Now, there was amusement in the bond. The primal need that overtook her when I called her a Cambridge exploded in the bond. Once we finished I felt Kayda’s annoyance over her job and barely held back a smile.
My dad linked, “Your Aunt’s fight will be in the afternoon for us. You should be able to make it in time even with your side quest.” I snorted, “Did you just call it a Quest? And how did you get read into it?” He replied, “Lithan reported it to the Guards. Kriton told me. I get read into what I want.” I snickered back down the link.
I got Kingsley back and portaled to Maddox. I asked, “Is someone getting us twenties outfits in case we need to go inside.” He answered, “Luca is.” I asked, “And where is your mate?” He replied, “Being a Falconer.” Naturally.
I left and found Lithan. I asked, “Where are our eyes?” He showed me on a tablet. We’d gotten hacked into their camera inside. He’d had microphones planted and there were going to be more people inside and outside. I nodded, “I like it.” He snorted, “I do not. I want more people inside with the Queen, her secretary, and her Falconer.”
I said, “Not much can hurt her and heaven help them if they find something that can.” He hummed, “Yeah, see it’s that factor I don’t care for.” I shrugged, “We will get through this.” I left and found Rusty. I called, “Hey, boy. Sorry I haven’t been around much.” We played for a few hours before I took Aziz out for a ride.
I stared out at the ocean until Gabe joined me. He asked, “What’s up, big bro?” I replied, “Aunt Haley fights a Fairy in Faerie this afternoon. I know she needs this, but I want to kill him for her.” He snorted, “Yeah, we all do.” I nodded, “I know.” We watched the waves crash.
I asked, “How’s everything coming for your bonding ceremony?” He snorted, “I’ve decided Angelique needs to start planning our wedding now. She’s meticulous with the details. Everything has to be perfect and I know that’s because of how her life has gone so far. So my sap ass is making sure everything is just as she wants.”
I replied, “That doesn’t make you a sap.” He shrugged, “I don’t care that I’m a sap for her. I’ll be a sap any day. I just don’t have all of her family I want. The Demon side sucks too but she thinks they don’t. All because they gave her old phones, thought she was funny, and came to see her.”
He scoffed, “I want to ring their damn necks.” I hummed, “I’m sure I could find a way to make that happen.” He asked, “How?” I answered, “I’ll organize a fighting tournament. You’d destroy them and anyone in the realms would jump at a chance to fight us. So, I’ll organize something with Uncle Logan in their realm. You just let it be known you’re fighting.”
He grinned, “You know, I do adore your cunning. Thank you, brother.” I told him, “I need what you do. You are my brother and I love you. If you need to beat the s**t out of specific people and tell them to treat my sister better, then you do so. I’ll always have your six.” He inclined his head replying, “The same goes.”
We rode back to the stable. He called, “See you at the big shindig where Aunt Haley will kick ass.” I waved, “See you, little brother.” He waved and Angelique appeared in front of him smiling brightly. Gabe called, “I’m still bringing weapons, plus my fire thrower.” I laughed, “I would expect nothing less.”
I jogged back to my place. Lincoln said, “We will see you there.” They portaled out and I portaled to Kingsley’s to wait. I wrote more post it notes and got ready for this mission. I was aware I was going to want to beat the s**t out of people for looking at her, but I’d reign that in. Or I’d try. I’d probably feel what my dad has been dealing with his whole life when my mom had a mission.
Kingsley showed up and we left. Kingsley went to meet up with Stella. I asked, “What am I wearing?” He pulled out a tweed suit with a black wool trench coat complete with a hat. I quickly put it on. Well, as quickly as I could. He handed me a watch with a chain on it for my pocket. I threw my head back and laughed.
Luca winked, “You never know if you’ll be needed inside.” Robyn left and went in first. Luca waited five minutes then started to go. He turned back around, “Don’t worry, Crown Prince man. I’ll never let anything happen to Robyn or Kingsley. She saved my life and Robyn. Robyn became family to me, and Kingsley is too. I’m a good fighter. They will be safe with me.”
I nodded, “I never doubted that or all of Kingsley’s Guards would be inside.” He chuckled, “I noticed some people I’ve met at the gym in there on the screen.” I shrugged, “Lithan made those calls because he’s her Guard. In fact, he wants more people.” He grinned admitting, “I’m glad you guys are around K now. She’s always deserved people to have her back, but she’s been prickly about it. Thanks.” He took off.
Lincoln cooed, “Aww all our mates get along. Isn’t this the best? Were we just wondering where the f**k they were like a year ago?” I snorted, “Yes.” Maddox replied, “Again, everyone who kept Melanie away is at fault for that. Kingsley could’ve developed her initiatives besides H. Melanie is who she was drawn to. I believe Aesir guided them together or fate did.” I think it was fate.
I easily spotted Stella since she was in the brief Kingsley went over. She walked in first and I kept my eyes peeled for my mate. I nearly faltered when I saw her. I asked, “WHO THE f**k WORE THAT IN THE TWENTIES?!” Lincoln answered, “The sexiest sexy’s. Obviously.” Maddox snorted, “Well, I don’t know that they did. It’s like a Fairy’s version of the twenties. Maybe Stella has been looking into your Fairy relations and took to their fashion ideas.”
I groaned, “I want that to be torn into even smaller pieces. God that dress needs to be on my floor.” Lincoln snorted, “Someone more mature will have to convince you to go see your Aunt fight. I’m here for starting an orgie in the human realm. Who could blame us?” Maddox replied, “The human police, obviously.” Damn this realm and their weird sensibilities about what’s perfectly natural.
I had literally never begrudged the human realm that sensibility until right the f**k now. Clearly the women here needed to run around in the outfit my mate was. They would understand that orgies happen and nudity is fine. That was the clear answer to the problem. I should just set Aunt Haley’s fashion on this realm. They’d get on the orgy board, quickly. If they had any sense anyway.
I watched Kingsley dance while the desire to be inside her mounted. Lincoln hummed, “Robyn is doing those moves too. Who knew the Charleston was sexy? Let’s have a mobster USA twenties themed party. We just need to tell you Aunt about it. THINK of that dress your mate is in but Haley’d.” I replied, “I’d tell you that’s not a word, but it definitely should be.” Lincoln nudged me, “Of course it does.”
I snorted, “That’s also not a normal Charleston dance.” Lincoln said, “It totally should be. I’m on Team Melanie again. Her version is sexier and I am here for anything sexy.” I snorted, “I think Melanie would just consider it dancing.” He shrugged, “Sexy dancing.” I threw my head back and laughed.
Maddox hummed, “They work well together.” They did. They’d gotten the woman out while Kingsley distracted everyone. I stood when the man stumbled into my mate. I ground out, “I will kill him.” Lincoln agreed, “Yes, do that.” Maddox scoffed, “He’s drunk let’s…” He trailed off when Luca joined the scuffle.
I felt like I could breathe fire myself. Maddox sighed, “H she…” I cut him off, “She screamed.” Lincoln nudged me, “And he should totally die for that. We are in our twenties garb. Let’s cut his off, mob style. Cement shoes, the whole nine. This outfit gives ideas. I’m just saying.” Maddox asked, “Why, Linc?”
Lincoln shrugged, “Because I want his intrusive thoughts to win. Obviously. Let’s go full mob on his ass!” Maddox agreed when our mates were shoved, “Alright. Fine. Off with hands.” Lincoln fist pounded into the air, “YES! LET’S f*****g GO!” Then Robyn joined.
He warned, “Hey, buddy! You can’t lose your hands more than once! I WILL COME FOR YOUR TOES BEFORE I ENCASE YOU IN CEMENT!” Then he cheered, “Get him kitty cat!” I admitted, “She’s got a hell of a form.” Kingsley’s amusement exploded in the bond, but I was not amused.
I asked, “Maddox, did Luca waiter somewhere?” He replied, “He went to magic camp as a child.” We both glanced at him and he shrugged. I said, “I know but it’s awesome.” It probably was, but sending a Supernatural to human magic camp was something else entirely.
My eyes blazed with fury so hard my family was tugging on my bond. I knew which exit Kingsley would go out. I ordered, “You have someone grab his ass when he flees. I want him in our realm. IN MY GODDAMN DUNGEONS!” Lincoln saluted me, “On that. So, all over it. We can still go human mob on him, right?” I answered, “I don’t f*****g care.” Lincoln nodded, “Sure, sure. I care so human mob it is. I’ll get baseball bats.” I shook my head and took off.
I saw the guy take a swing and Lithan joined them. I got to share the s**t out of the bastard who swung a goddamn knife at MY MATE! My dad linked, “Is the quest going sideways? Do you need us?” I scoffed, “There’s some dead ass mother fuckers. One wanted MY mate and his dumb ass brother SWUNG A KNIFE AT HER.”
He said, “Then get them to our realm and join this utter s**t show. I’m pretty sure your Aunt changed whatever ceremony outfit they fight in based on her emotions. There’s only so much I can do if Eric jumped into this arena.” I replied, “Do nothing. He’d just shift and fight with her. They’d love that shit.” He retorted, “I do even remotely care for what they care about.” Fair enough.
I linked Chester, “I want these fuckers sent back from this twenties club to be put on my island. I’m going to have my mate hunt them down.” Kayda was hungry and grumpy based on the bond. He asked, “Are you going to tell me what she is?” I answered, “A Supernatural.” He snorted, “Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. A leaping Supernatural.” I told him, “Think of something you’d never guess. That’s what she is.” He groaned, “Fine. Challenge accepted.”
I gave orders to Lithan. Chester would sync up with him and I felt how happy Kayda was about this idea which made it all worth it. Lithan had clearly figured out what Kingsley was. I linked Chester, “You are slacking Lithan figured out what she is.” Chester asked, “Are you for real? SHE IS HIS CHARGE!” I laughed back and knew he’d be determined to figure it out.
Lincoln replied, “I am with Stella. She’s a spunky, sassy wolf. Robyn and I are making sure she gets home ok. Everything is covered, go make sure your Aunt kicks ass. If you find Fairies that need cement shoes I’m already googling how to do that properly with a toeless man.” I snorted in reply.
I opened a portal and nearly faltered when she mentioned Kashe. They knew her. I linked my dad, “I think Kashe built buildings for Melanie.” He asked, “Are you serious?” I answered, “Yeah, she’s built them for my mate too.” He groaned in reply, “No, I don’t know that. It’s not a thing I know. I think the link isn’t working. I hear static. It’s weird.” I snorted in reply but knew Kashe would probably be super excited but throw things when she found out.
I took her through to my brothers. The arena was crazy. I’d never seen it before. I wondered how long it had been since it was used. If I wanted to make Melanie jump, I’d link her and ask. I jolted towards Angelique when she mentioned she’d seen the arena. What the literal f**k?
I linked Uncle Gunner, “Are you looking for Angelique’s shows on the system?” He replied, “I’m trying to hack into them because I don’t have the correct access to view them. I’ve nearly mirrored Angelique’s so I should have them soon.” I admitted, “I kind of want to see what’s in them.” He snorted, “I more than kind of want to see them. Angelique has implied I’m practically a god in the shows. I need to see what’s going on.”
I reasoned, “It would make sense that as a hacker, she idolized you.” He replied, “I would’ve met with her at any point in time.” I reasoned, “She knows that but she thought you would stop her.” He grunted, “Haley thinks Eric possesses patience he doesn’t.” That was a subject change.
I glanced at the field and noted my dad was right. Aunt Haley definitely changed the outfit. Kingsley’s comments about my cousin drew me back in. She knew about my fashion designer cousin Lex? My dad linked, “I think we should just admit your mate and all the mate’s brought in by Alexander’s have a ridiculous amount of knowledge.”
I asked, “How did you even hear that?” He replied, “Gabe called me so I could listen.” Naturally. Kingsley challenged me to fix that. I absolutely would. I would go talk to Lex and send him to Haley. He’s always backed off, just like the Manning side of the family with my Aunt. Everyone wanted her to be comfortable, but maybe that was all a mistake. They should’ve all been loud about it like Aunt Vivienne.
My Aunt’s bond was actually mostly boredom. She was surprised about the cheering going on. Which made me want to kill them all, but I refrained. I locked eyes with Aiden Holloran. He was loving this, but I could see his nerves. He didn’t want Aunt Haley down there alone and I could understand that.
I was on my feet when the Fairy mentioned ripping my Aunt’s heart out. Brenton said, “Uhhh big bro, I think my sister is about to shift.” I whipped around and scales had begun to form on Kingsley’s skin and steam was coming out of her nostrils.
I quickly covered her so no one would see it. My family moved to make sure she wasn’t visible. Alvin snorted, “If she shifts, she’ll just fly.” Then we’d have to make sure they didn’t know who she was. Plus, I’d threaten the whole ass realm and that sounded fun. I calmed Kayda down though.
Our eyes went back to the fight. My Aunt was now definitely bored and felt like this fight was a letdown. She also felt a sliver of annoyance she never fought back as a child if this is what she would’ve been up against.
I linked dad, “Did you catch that feeling before it got locked down?” He answered, “Yes, and your Uncle Logan got more. We will talk to her about it.” Good. I added, “Maybe away from here. Have a separate meeting for that.” He agreed, “We will.” I sighed in relief.
I was ready to throw weapons when he basically told my Aunt we killed Alania. Mother fucker. Kingsley literally brushed her off. My eyes locked onto Melanie, but she wasn’t paying attention to me at all.
My Aunt’s reply nearly had me falling on my ass. Damn. I thought she either suspected but dismissed it because she didn’t want to know. Instead, she hoped we made her suffer. Brenton sent me the feelings that she absolutely suffered. Not enough but she certainly had paid in blood for her crimes by all our hands.
I linked my dad, “It pisses me off she can block things like that out from us.” He agreed, “It does me too. I want to feel her like I feel everyone. It’s very annoying that I cannot.” The sad thing was I knew she was doing better about it. I wondered what her full bond was like. Because when we did get it, it was like a blast we had to get used to.
