Present Pt. 1

Hastein listened to his mate. I wish we had our Hackura bond because then I could feel her and know she wanted this. Her eyes and body language was saying she actually needed to meet my family. Also, there would be no chance that I’d just randomly be into Kingsley if she disappeared. No, no. I would hunt my mate down even if I had to go to every single realm to do so. If it took my people longer than fifteen minutes to find her no one would be happy. Because if my mate was missing the realm would be shut down. NOTHING would happen until Kingsley was back in my arms. I would rage until she was found. Hell, someone would point me in her direction so I stopped killing people. I’d make sure they were bad people, but SOMEONE would find her to stop me. Confusion was swirling in my bonds over my feelings of utter possessiveness and protectiveness. They were all gearing up to come kill whoever was on her mission thinking something happened. I sent them back that it was fine. They were not so certain and now just kind of planning to kill people. I couldn’t keep the smile off my face because I truly adored my family. My Aunt pushed at me that if I tugged her she’d solve the problem. I sent back reassurance nothing was happening. She was mostly convinced but still moderately plotting which had me smiling even more. They really were the best. I sent my Aunt, Dad, and mom a message. Me: I need a dinner organized for the aunts, uncles, parents, and siblings (mates included) to meet Kingsley. She’s ready and needs this to happen ASAP. Aunt Haley: Consider it f*****g done. Dad: Are you ok? Aunt Haley: Of f*****g course he is or I’d have popped to him. Mom: We will make sure everything is handled for dinner and everyone will be there. Dad: Great. You two work on dinner, I’ll be there. We all know this but really. Are you ok, son? Me: People piss me off. Dad: So your mate is not missing? Because we got the sense there for a second she might be. Me: She’s not. It was a co-workers situation we discussed. Dad: Awesome. Aunt Haley: One, of f*****g course she’s not missing. He’d have told me to pop to her because he asks me to do such things. Two, do we give a s**t about this co-worker? Do I need to f**k s**t up? Also, I agree with your sentiment brother, it is awesome his mate’s not missing. Dinner is DONE because Astrid and I are that f*****g awesome and it would be GREAT if people remembered that BESIDES H. I’m just saying. Me: The co-worker’s situation is handled. Their conversation made my mate realize that she did not want to wait to meet everyone. Thank you guys for handling all that. Aunt Haley: You’re welcome. Also, I understood the subtext from the information above. I got it. I’ll find the co-worker and sending her f*****g awesome orgasmic fun toys. From my s*x toy line and set her up on a Fairy date if she has someone in her life. Me: I’m sure Uncle Gunner could find out from Melanie’s system. Also she’s mated. Aunt Haley: f*****g A. Glad she passed the vibe check. (I’m told people say that). P.S. His name is Harper's Boytoy lover Dad: Who told you people say that? Aunt Haley: People. I could stop her from setting up things for Kingsley’s co-worker, but that would be funny. Plus, I knew the answer: the pack girls. When Kingsley teared up I stowed my phone and I was ready to rip apart her family again. That had my family ready to act. I was certain Aunt Haley had a weapon or something at this point. My dad was more understanding of what my feelings were now. My brothers were ready to kill but clearly knew they were meeting Kingsley which meant she was not missing. So, they were just on alert. The hellion triplets were plotting something though. I sent Hugo and Alvin a warning to get on that. They practically groaned back. I followed my mate’s directive and got us back to the Hackura realm. I was trying not to smile since she was clearly panicking. Her heart rate increased and I’d never actually heard her shriek like she just did. It was cute. Then I realized she clearly wanted a banquet. I texted the group chat and added Cassie in. Me: Let’s change this to a ball. Aunt Haley: Are you f*****g serious? You’d better be. Cassie: He so is. I bet Melanie told Kingsley about our balls and she wants one. Me: Yes to both. Aunt Haley: FUUUCCKKKKKKK YESSSSSSSS! Cassie: I’m coming to help setup mom! This will be so much fun! Mom: We are all over this change, H. Dad: Yeah, consider it already done. Your Aunt and cousin are busy conjuring dressing and setting up the family banquet room. I was impressed with my mate’s ability to jump. What the hell was she? That led to s*x which I was more than happy about. I sent my Aunt the need for her to snap the blood of Kingsley when we finished and grinned as it disappeared off of her. I needed to cleanse Blair off me. I practically scalded my skin but I felt clean. I heard Kingsley, rather Kayda, purr. I sent my Aunt the feeling to snap her hair and makeup done. She sent back that it was done. She was the best and I shoved that at her which basically made her blush. I grabbed my pants but didn’t manage to get them on when I saw my mate. She looked every inch the future Queen she was. Her dress was stunning. We were going to be late, but I already knew no one cared. Plus, no one gave an official time. I just knew when they usually started. I stuck to one round of s*x because I knew she wanted to meet everyone and they were practically chomping at the bit. Hugo sent me all his exasperation at keeping the hellion triplets in line. I kind of owed him so we made the trek down the stairs for our first ever ball. I watched her taking in everything and couldn’t stop my own smile. She looked around the halls I’ve lived my whole life in wonder which made me take them in again. My Grandpa's secretary was waiting to announce us. I nodded at Leander who beamed at me before announcing us. I sent everyone caution and the need to do this all slowly. I got a lot of eye rolls but they followed that protocol. I beamed with pride at every introduction. My grandparents walked up and I actually felt chagrined. They all shot me looks, but Grandma Veronica sent me understanding. She knew I’d never meant to exclude them, I was typing fast. Thank god they were here or I’d never hear the end of it from Grandma Kenna. Kingsley’s actually reacted viscerally to her name. Everyone wondered what that was about, but she didn’t know. She must know someone named Kenna. I was impressed by my mate and I knew everyone was as well. They all sent me how happy they were for us. They thought we looked regal which didn’t surprise me, we did. She guessed all my brothers and they were beyond thrilled and intrigued. I needed to look at Melanie’s damn files. Uncle Gunner’s smirk told me he’d looked it up. Their pride all hit when she spoke in perfect Latin. I really needed to get Melanie the largest of presents. It needed to be perfect too so I’d have to see if Uncle Gunner could get a file on her that told me all the secrets. Alexander might know too. Then the obvious hit me, my mate would know. I tucked that away for later. When the band started I led her in the first dance. I was impressed she knew how to dance and wondered why. Her expression told me she might just know a style I’d be more than happy to watch. We ate and I could feel my Aunt noting that Kingsley could pack away food and adjusting thoughts for food at the banquet. She conjured more food as it was. Then my mate’s eyes flashed purple. All my brothers were now thoroughly excited to meet Kayda. That turned to elation when she wanted a prisoner brought to the ball. My Aunt whispered to my Uncle Eric, “I f*****g love her.” Uncle Eric chuckled and kissed her temple. I texted Jocelyn. Me: We need Trevor at our ball. Jocelyn: As your secretary, and friend, I need to confirm your actions against that worthless, pathetic excuse of a person will not scare your mate. Me: It was her request and she’s running the show. Jocelyn: I already love her. You could introduce her to me at any time. Me: Duly noted. Jocelyn: I’m rolling my eyes and noting in my phone that I’ll have to put it on your DAMN calendar to introduce her to me AND YOUR GUARD. (but you better know I’ll be first). Trevor is being brought to you. I smirked and put my phone away and watched Chester shove Trevor through to us. He winked at me before it closed. My mate was instantly on him and that had me rock hard already. This was going to be hell watching because I already wanted to forget all about him and get back inside my mate. Hugo said, “I hate to say Trevogre asked a good question, but what was that noise she made?” I admitted, “I don’t know.” He groaned, “Ugh.” I noted my Aunt looked and felt thoroughly excited. She and Cassie shared a look. My dad asked, “Little one?” She snorted, “Figure it out your damn selves. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Uncle Eric rubbed circles on her thigh, “I would, Angel.” She giggled at him, but I was certain he wasn’t getting the answer out of her. The hellion triplets descended on her. If any of us got it out of her, it would be them. I just didn’t think they were going to get it. I knew my Aunt was practically certain but she wasn’t letting herself get too excited about it. Which meant, she’d never tell us because she didn’t want us to be disappointed if she was wrong. The thing I wished she understood was that we’d believe her no questions asked. Arvid asked, “Our cousin’s mate is her other half’s pet?” I replied, “Kayda is her other half and yes.” Aunt Haley squealed and then covered her mouth. I asked, “Does that name mean something to you?” She shrugged and looked nonchalant but her emotions were so excited she was still screaming. Brenton cooed, “Awww, come on Aunt Haley we feel how excited you are.” She smiled back at him but said nothing. Cassie looked and felt confused so she didn’t know what was going on. Hugo huffed, “We have GOT to figure this out. My competitive juices are flowing. Will you get on that?” I replied, “I will not rush her.” Kingsley was so focused on Trevor she was not paying attention to us. I said, “You don’t know what me telling her giving her the name Cambridge meant to her. It visibly moved her. Those bastards that took her memory took her identity and she felt like she got one back. I’m certain they are lucky we did not have our Hackura bond because if I felt all the emotions she did about it, they’d die. No questions asked.” Hugo put a hand on me and my family all threw support at me. Pride flowed through us all when she defended our family. Everyone’s anger fired when they heard how alone she felt before Melanie came into her life. Surnames even got brought up. Hugo said, “I mean we could kill them anyone for the pain in Kayda’s voice for that.” Uncle Eric agreed, “We should. Anyone who hurt Thor that badly would die. His emotions about it would be because of my own since animals don’t tend to care about names.” I replied, “We’ll see.” Aunt Haley backed me up, “That’s about what Kingsley wants. Obviously, I can go hijinks on their ass.” I grinned because that might be worse than killing them quickly. Dad added, “We could let the hijinks start and then kill them decades later too.” We all grinned at each other. Uncle Eric asked, “Did a LIGHTER just come out of that watch?” It had. Cayden tapped his watch, “Can I have a lighter?” Nothing happened. He groaned, “I need to figure out how this thing works. Gunner said, “From what I know if your heart rate was high enough it would give you something you asked for. Micah and I have run some tests. When he was fighting in the ring at the gym, it gave him what he asked for within reason of his administration level. Well, the last part is a guess but he asked for certain information it made a beeping sound and didn’t give him. The objects he asked for were given though.” Interesting. She blew fire at him. Now my Aunt’s emotions were practically singing. Brenton threw water on him when she wanted and sent smugness to my brothers that he was her favorite. The hellion triplets definitely took it as a challenge. When he called her sister, I touched my chest because her eyes cleared. Tears filled her beautiful eyes and she stared at him trying to ascertain if he meant it. He let her see that he did and she turned back and wiped her face. Brenton said, “Let’s just kill them. They hurt her and that’s not ok.” I agreed, “It’s not. We will make sure they know that, but if she doesn’t want them dead they will live.” After a beat I added, “Living in fear of their shadows because Aunt Haley will get them for the rest of their lives.” She gasped, “Do you mean that literally? Because…” I interrupted her, “Yes, literally.” She squealed excitedly and began to plot. She could probably cater those pranks to whatever she suspected my mate was. Hell, I already knew she was right about whatever Kingsley was so she’d be prepared with her pranks and I liked that. She jumped with ease to the chandelier. Hugo asked, “What the f**k breathes other water and has the ability to jump like that.” I threw out, “A dolphin?” Arvid said, “Dolphins don’t screech like that.” True. God, why was this so hard to figure out? We all sat up when she started talking about Melanie’s theories. I looked at my dad and knew no one had this information before. Wren whispered, “She has all the secrets. Like maybe more than all of them but the Witch friend.” I suspected my mate had access to more than the Witch friend. Melanie believed Alexander’s rejection would kill her. I bet she had a failsafe in her system to send everything to Kingsley if something happened to her. So, she could probably access it all now if she wanted. Melanie would know my mate would hunt Slade down for her if Melanie couldn't. She then brought me in. Impress her? I wanted to f**k her on the damn table to impress her with the amount of orgasm I gave her. It was actually hard to focus on. I managed to focus on my task. Then I saw her licked her finger and my gaze narrowed. Was she going to put salt on her skin for a tequila shot? Because that was NOT an offer I was capable of refusing. I was next to her the second she’d done it to lick it off her. I pulled the Hellion triplets to keep torturing Trevor and they were more than happy about it. They had excess energy to get rid of at all times. I took her several times on the table, chair, and even the floor before we got back to the ball. I saw Chester take Trevor out by lassoing him out through a portal back to his cell. The guards were quite creative, which people did not often give them credit for. When the night wound down, I wished with all of me I could give this to her too. It meant everything having her there with my family. It turned out, she did want me to meet someone. I needed to get a watch like she had because it projected a location which told me the likely supernatural her grandma was. A Yule Cat. I’d have to get them a present. I faltered when she said she’d learn a portal and the goddess wolf said so. Ok, we had to have a CHAT with the human AND wolf. It would be so hot seeing her open a portal and historic. Helpful though because she could get around like we could and that honestly eased my mind. I heard someone yelling and knew before I saw him, he’d be Maddox’s mate. When I did, I nearly laughed. He was Maddox’s for sure. This man could not be more his type if he tried. Having a shifter who knew missions would also be quite handy should he want to do them for us. I also didn’t have to ask who Grandma was. She came out with her bluntness on display and I knew Kayda loved that about her as well as Kingsley. Plus, it told me who this woman was. The former Queen was rumored to be exactly like the woman in front of me. I had to smile watching their exchange. Several people glanced at me in fear when she invited herself to our wedding. They didn’t need to be worried since I already knew they were coming. Kingsley would want them there. They took us into their Clouder. Grandma nudged Kingsley with her hip, “Now, that you have him tell Grandma your real name.” Kingsley laughed, “How did you know?” Grandma snorted, “Please, you do not look like a Katla.” She admitted, “It’s Kingsley.” A man snorted, “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me first.” I asked, “Why?” Everyone winced. Grandma snorted, “Good job, Stefan. Way to call attention to yourself.” I glanced at my mate who shrugged, “We hooked up before he met his meow.” I nodded, “Ok.” Everyone sighed in relief except the former King. He’d know I wouldn't care about that. Did that mean I didn’t pull my mate possessively in front of me and kiss her head? No. Did it mean I wouldn’t be overly possessive and touchy in front of him? Also no. Grandma sighed, “Everything is so perfect. Now, we just need to capture that wretched woman and all will be well.” Everyone groaned. I see the perfect present found me. I asked, “What woman?” Grandma snorted, “My granddaughter’s mother.” Her husband warned, “My love you can’t tell….” Grandma cut him off, “I know your fine ass was NOT about to tell me what to do. All my grandchildren know the story. Hastein should as well.” I winked, “Hastein agrees. Feel free to call me H, family does.” She clapped my cheek twice, “Such a smart and good man. Robyn’s birth mother needs to die.” A woman in the back snickered. I asked, “Are you Robyn?” She nodded and Kingsley bumped me, wiggling her eyebrows. How she knew that woman was Lincoln’s type had to be related to Melanie. It seemed my friends and I would be bringing Robyn’s mom back here. I asked, “What did her mom do?” Grandma scoffed, “What didn’t she do? She broke my baby boy’s heart.” A man groaned, “I’m a man and have been.” I said, “My mom always says I’m her baby boy.” Grandma cooed, “You are the best and I adore you. He’s right by the way Refr, you all will ALWAYS be my babies because I carried, gave birth, nursed, and loved you all your life.” She turned back to me, “ANYWAY, that AWFUL woman was my son’s first Meow. Our goddess messed up with that but we got Robyn from it. She played with his heart then left him when her chosen didn’t die in some war she thought he would.” So she was a b***h. She waved, “She gave him a false pregnancy test showing she wasn’t pregnant, WHEN SHE WAS.” She was definitely dead then. No one was going to hurt Kingsley’s chosen family in such a way. Former King Kristian was watching me with a smirk because he knew they’d have that woman here shortly. Grandma wasn’t done. “She let them treat Robyn horrible when she didn’t shift when shifters do.” I jumped in, “She wouldn't be able to until she turned twenty-one.” No Yule cat could. There was one I knew of mated to a wolf, but their wolf came to them at sixteen. Their Yule Cat came later. Shifters didn’t have a true counterpart so Robyn wouldn’t have been able to shift until her twenty-first birthday. Now, she could probably shift into more than her cat if she wanted. Luca boasted, “She could partially shift.” I nodded, “Very impressive.” Robyn blushed, “They did not think so.” I frowned, asking, “Why not? It is and I’m not easily impressed.” Grandma scoffed, “Because they are stupid.” I agreed, “Clearly.” She waved, “That horrible woman was never honest with her people or chosen about who Robyn’s father was. The man that raised her turned on my granddaughter.” My jaw locked and my connections were pinging with concern. She continued, “They experimented on her and treated her horribly.” I pulled a weapon off my back they couldn't see until it hit my hands. I asked, “They what?” I knew my eyes were blazing. Luca said, “Whoa. That golden eyes thing is HOT. Rock on with ya bad self, K. Go you. I’m available for single hot men with the golden eye thing going on. Keep that in mind please.” He fanned himself. Fury filled my veins. Kingsley appeared in my line of vision. She whispered in Latin, “Doleo eam fabulam te materterae tuae meminisse. Melanie narravit nobis, sed ego audivi fabulam. Melanie videsis. Bene est, H. hic sum (I am sorry her story makes you remember your Aunt's. Melanie told us but I'd heard her story. Melanie had more details. It's ok, H. I'm right here).” I inhaled her scent for several minutes. I asked through gritted teeth, “What did they do to you, Luca?” He answered, “They wanted to fix me because I’m gay. I refused to marry a spoiled brat, who was a female, so they sentenced me and Robyn to death because I hugged her.” I gripped Kingsley harder because I wanted to slaughter that idiotic and barbaric group of shifters. I asked, “And Robyn’s mother’s name is?” Grandma answered with a sneer, “Catarina Ashby. She was going to LET them kill Robyn but my favorite grandkitten stepped in. She saved them both and killed the wretched woman and her father who’d gotten everyone to agree to them dying because Luca, my grandson, HUGGED my granddaughter and refused to marry someone he wasn’t interested in.” She seemed to be collecting people to call her grandchildren which was perfectly fine by me. She squeezed his hand, “He was true to himself and we are so very proud of him for it.” He blushed under her praise. I said, “If the Hackura had known, they’d all be dead. We do not allow Supernaturals to be experimented on against their will.” It grated they were still doing it. My family’s connections were all worried but ready to go.
