Chariah strode in. She said, “That’s an excellent question. The King had me trying to figure out what happened to John and you and your friends have been absent. Did he start something with the Hackura? You are all to report about them being in the area. I don’t have that. I’ll check with the secretaries, but to my knowledge no one does.”
Harriah said, “I didn’t know who they were.” Josey said, “But you knew a member of court got taken and didn’t report it.” She flushed, “I knew that Karlee could get him back.” I laughed. She glared at me. I mock bowed to her, “I love that even though you hate me you think I could control the Hackura. What did he do?” She answered, “He took a swing at some guy named Linc.” Kayda flipped to furious in a second.
She screeched, “That roastable tried for our mate’s friend?! OUR FRIEND’S MATE! ROBYN’S LINC?! The Yule Cat and I will GET him. How DARE they even so much as gaze at an unroastable.” Awesome now they had rules about gazing at non-roastables. The list of rules was getting really long. She retorted, “And growing as they come to me.” Yay.
Josey gasped, “He tried to hit a Hackura?! Why?” Chariah said, “Yes, hopefully he has a good reason.” Not that the King would inquire about it. He didn’t want them here. Harriah bit her lip. Josey groaned, “He didn’t have a good reason.” She said, “They were being rude!” I asked, “How?” One of her group said, “John was loudly talking about how long it took you to answer the door. He then said you refused to come out. The guy made a joke about him not being able to take a hint.”
Kayda shouted, “That’s it?! The Yule Cat and I will play with him. I’ll throw him like a ball of yarn for her to CHASE! A JOKE?! Roastables are the worst. I need ample steak d**k time to get over having to deal with the drivel.” Aesir, buddy old pal, help me. She huffed, “He is not our god.” He kind of was though. I didn’t remember ours and I was the Queen of his race. She said, “Yes, QUEEN. QUEENS DO NOT DEAL WITH THE ROASTABLES! I’m certain he would agree with me.”
Chariah said, “Well, I can confidently state the King isn’t doing anything about this. We are all probably going to have a meeting later.” I groaned because I did NOT want to go to court tonight. Kayda chimed in, “Skip it. We are a Queen. He can’t do anything to us.” Except we were undercover. She huffed, “Fine. Force us to deal with some Vampire King we are better than.”
An hour later the King’s secretary did require us all to come in tonight. Damn it! Kayda said, “Blowing this joint and just hanging out in the Hackura realm is looking better and better.” I was not admitting she was right. She teased, “I heard that.” I placated, “Fine. After this we will enjoy our bond and spend all our time with H. Ok?” She happily screeched. We’d probably have work too.
She chided, “No, no, no. Our pet had things about bonding time in all those files and homework we read.” She was right. I put my privacy screen back up. I asked, “ILYX, what’s the Hackura’s policy on mate’s bonding time.” ILYX replied, “Barring emergencies they have a few months of leave once living together.” Kayda happily screeched again.
I happily worked until it was time to head over to the castle. I drove over behind Josey. She got out and huffed. She said, “He’s going to yell at us.” I put an arm around her, “Stick with me.” Moses and Troy were waiting when we got there. Troy said, “Stay by us. He’s very angry.” We walked in while the King’s eyes were practically red with anger.
He asked, “Do I not provide a safe Kingdom here?” Kayda scoffed, “Is he serious?” He was but the answer was no. He clearly thought it was yes. He shouted, “We do NOT want the Hackura in this area.” Kayda chuckled, “Saying one is in our bed would be bad then.” I warned, “Don’t you dare.” She hummed but I knew she wouldn’t do it.
My gaze was drawn over the mantle again. I forced myself into place trying to avoid going for it. I swore I heard someone whispering my name. The King bellowed, “DISMISSED!” Josey sighed, “That was tense.” I’d missed the whole speech? Clear as day I heard, “Kingsley.” Whispered. I whirled around.
Troy asked, “Karlee?” I asked, “Did you hear that?” He asked, “What?” I replied, “Someone called my name.” He said, “I did not.” Which meant I didn’t hear it. I frowned and left. Kayda was upset. I asked, “Are you ok?” She said, “I am torn. I want to run back inside there to that sword.” Yeah, I did too. I said, “But I can feel our mate is impatient and I’m certain he’s at our place.” Kayda perked up, “Yes, steak d**k over sword. That’s the correct attitude.” I was going to have avoided that damn throne room before I did something dumb like try to take the King of Missouri’s sword.
Kayda added, “It doesn’t have a blade.” She was right, but I knew it was a sword. I waved to everyone and got in my car. Where I proceeded to drive like a bat of hell back to my place. Hastein’s impatience and feelings that I was in trouble had me smiling. Kayda purred, “I bet our pet did something.” What could she have done that got us in trouble? Kayda cackled, “I cannot wait to find out. I’ll plan a surprise for her.”
I parked and went up to my place. I put in the codes and walked in the door. Hastein was waiting. Kayda purred in my head. He was wearing black slacks with a belt, no shirt, and he was holding a glass of whiskey. His eyes promised dangerous fun. He inclined his head to the sofa. I grinned and sat.
I asked, “So big boy, how was your day?” He replied, “Melanie runs the Resistance.” Kayda hummed, “He is so smart.” The question was did he know? Or was he guessing? I replied, “Why would you say that?” He replied, “Because while questioning Ezra…” I interrupted, “Oh god. She did not question Ezra.” He replied, “She did.” So, he knew then.
I laughed, “So much for that meeting then.” He hummed, “You knew I was worried about it and that it was her.” I agreed, “Yes, but I told you it was ok.” He pulled his belt off in one swift move. Kayda purred, “That was hot.” He said, “You do what you want because she runs it.” I agreed, “Again, yes. I would never work for someone I didn’t want to when I work for myself.”
He whipped the belt on the ground. Kayda was practically rolled over. He ordered, “Turn around.” I did as he said. Kayda demanded, “Tell him.” I didn’t even have to ask what she meant. He asked, “Why are you somewhat embarrassed and nervous to tell me something? Dear god, you cannot top Melanie running the Resistance.” I laughed, “You might think it tops that in a different sense. It’s a s****l thing.”
He grinned and I felt his lust. He announced, “You never have to be embarrassed about that with me. I’m beyond intrigued about what this is about though.” I bent over knowing that’s what he wanted. He groaned, “f**k. You in this skirt is something.” I winked, “Pencil skirts get you going, duly noted.”
He spanked with the belt and I moaned. He questioned, “What did you want to tell me?” I admitted, “I’ve watched a lot of porn in my day and I’ve been intrigued by the idea of belt play.” He chuckled, “No one spanked you with a belt?” I answered, “Yes.” Kayda took over, “Lacklusterly. Overly concerned about hurting us and it ruined the whole thing.” She let me take back over while Hastein just grinned.
I explained, “What I mean is being choked by a belt intrigues me, but Kayda and I never had anyone we trusted enough to do that.” I paused for dramatic effect. Kayda cackled, “I approve.” I winked, “Until you.” He barreled his lust directed at me through the bond and spanked me again.
He said, “I’ll do anything you want.” I asked, “Does that sound fun?” He answered “Anything with you sounds fun. Have I done breath play? Yes. Will I do anything you want in the bedroom and outside of it? Yes. Anything you want, you ask and I will do everything in my power to give it to you.” He spanked me again and I moaned. Kayda said, “Our pet is the best. She admitted what she was hiding now we are getting spanked.” I replied, “It’s also going to get us fucked.” She repeated, “Our pet is the best. I chose her correctly.”
Hastein ordered, “Count.” I replied, “One, Sir.” He groaned, “f**k me, why is that hot?” I grinned. He spanked me again, “Two.” We kept going and I was pretty sure on the next one I was going to come. He spanked me and I shouted, “Twenty, my King.” I felt the belt tighten around my neck and I lost myself to the explosion of lights in my mind.
I collapsed onto Hastein and he ripped off my skirt. The belt loosened but remained around my neck. He bent me over the back of the couch and gripped my hips. He slammed inside me. He grunted, “You are mine. My secret keeper, my fierce and loyal mate. MINE!” I agreed, “Yours.” Kayda purred, “All his.”
He slammed into me again and pulled the belt tighter, restricting my airway. Then the man produced a damn feather out of his pocket. I screamed his name and felt literal fireworks go off in my mind. I bucked against him as he came inside me. He loosened the belt and I felt his relief in the bond.
I asked, “H?” He said, “I was worried you’d have marks on your neck, but you don’t.” I winked, “I'm durable.” He picked me up and ripped my top off. Kayda said, “It was offensive when you think about it.” I mentally rolled my eyes at her. He scooped me up and I realized he flicked my bra off. Kayda chimed back in, “A truly offensive piece of clothing you wear. As the humans say ‘free the n****e’ we should join that movement. It leads to us getting more steak dick.” Which was apparently her new mission in life.
She cleared her throat, “It is and it’s good that you have come to understand this because I will be incessantly annoying about this goal. This bond we have is addictive.” She was holding it close which told me all his emotions and he seemed to be able to tell it was her holding it. That made him happy, which made her pull it closer.
He sat me down on the bed and went into the giant tub and turned it on, poured some oils, and took out a bath bomb he produced from his pocket. I asked, “What’s that?” He grinned, “I was going to explain before I dropped it. It’s something from Faerie. It’s got relaxing properties.” Kayda said, “Yes! Long live the non-roastables and their charms.”
I stood and tapped his hand so it fell into the water. I grinned, “Yes, please.” He picked me back up and we got in with me in front of him. I sank into him. He asked, “How was your day?” I snorted, “I had to deal with Harriah. Kayda says it’s good you fed her because she wanted to kill her.” Kayda coughed, “Will. I WILL kill her.” He hummed, “She is on a list.” I laughed, “Kayda has plans.”
He kissed the side of my temple, “Fine. Kayda can have her plan, but my patience only goes so far.” Kayda purred, “He’s perfect.” I agreed, “Yes, he is.” He asked, “Were you in on the ground floor of Melanie starting the Resistance?” I laughed, “No, I met her when I was in Kayda form. Some Hunters were thinking they could capture or kill us.” I felt his hot fury pour into the bond.
I added, “Which Kayda wasn’t going to allow. She nearly set them on fire when they discussed skinning us.” He ground out, “They better be f*****g dead.” I answered, “They are. Before I could act they were shot in the head. Melanie came out in all black, Kayda claimed her as a pet. She was very upset that I didn’t just let her keep Melanie in our cave.”
He laughed, “That might have led to interesting things.” No joke. I chuckled, “She rambled her way right into my Dragon’s heart. She immediately offered a way for us to fly, which we hadn’t ever done to our recollection. I shifted back and she was on about her hair. She did draw the circle with a line through it too. It was the first time I heard her talk about Her Xander.”
Kayda took over, “Kingsley kept telling me I could not have her as my pet.” He laughed, “I see that went well since you still call her that.” She huffed, “I offered to feed and clothe her. I was even going to walk my werewolf pet.” That had Hastein laughing pretty hard. He said, “You sound like a very responsible pet owner.” She gasped, “Right? I should’ve just kept my Werewolf pet away from those awful roastables.”
He cupped my chin, “Hey, maybe you do in the ribbon.” She grinned, “I quite like that.” He kissed me and Kayda let me come back out. I added, “Anyway, then she helped me with Operation Saint Rita and gave me quite the influx of cash with her investments. She took my money and made quite the return. I was able to expand and she never balked if she asked me to do something I couldn't.”
He asked, “Did you ever turn down a mission?” I admitted, “Once but I was going. I was still pissed that she ended up going.” He asked, “What happened that you couldn’t go?” I shivered, “It wasn’t a good day.” His anger was creeping back up. He asked, “Did someone hurt you?” I admitted, “I had gone out for Saint Rita and it all went to s**t. In fact, the Supernatural council nearly had us.”
He pulled me closer to him somehow. He pleaded, “Give me a report.” I was certain he meant out loud, but Melanie had us write up reports. I adopted it for Saint Rita. I kissed the side of his face. I leaned over and touched the tablet in the bathroom and pulled up the report on our system. He scanned through it and I felt him shaking with rage along with feeling it in the bond. He asked, “Are those people dead? Why did barbed wire hurt you?”
I answered, “Because what that barbed wire was made of is one of the few things that does that to me. I didn’t realize the barbed wire was steel or that it had gotten under my skin. Melanie has her own version of Laxenread for me. It’s actually called Kayingsly for me and Kayda.” He nodded. I said, “I was sick and couldn't move. She was going to come check on me after she did the mission.”
I admitted, “She probably saved me a lot of pain because she had me put on my watch to monitor me. I humored her and the system dosed me with Kayingsly and I was feeling better in thirty minutes. Melanie changed the formula because thirty minutes is not good enough for her. So she added more of something and adrenaline to it. I haven’t had to use it again though.”
Kayda snorted, “That felt like the wrong thing to say. Like a jinx. I’m only ok with it because it WILL set our mate off if you have to use it. The claiming s*x will be worth using it. So, I accept your jinx.”
He said, “You didn’t answer if they were dead.” I winked, “Most of them are. I had to get them slowly. Obviously, the Supernatural Council members are not dead. We left them be. There is one more on the list that we can get now left.” He kissed the side of my head and I felt him plotting in the bond.
I snorted, “You go after her, then you take me with you.” He grinned, “I suppose we could get the gang together so to speak.” I laughed, “What does that mean?” He winked, “It means Linc, Robyn, Maddox, Luca, and probably Gabe.” I snorted, “Then Angelique will come.” He admitted, “I’m not sure if her coming is safe just yet. I haven't kept abreast of that situation, but we could make a one time exception if you want.” I laughed, “She will demand it. We were roommates at the time.”
He asked, “What was the mission?” I grinned, “Sometime, I’ll tell you all about it. Or something will happen and Melanie will tell you herself.” He groaned, “Why do I feel it will be bad?” I pinched his thigh and he chuckled. I told him, “I’m sure you’ll be more intrigued and happier about it than your cousin. Though as I know him, he won’t react how several people in the Resistance think he will.”
He kissed my temple again, “Explain, please.” Kayda cooed, “He said please. I love him.” I admitted, “Well, as you know wolves and possessiveness are synonymous.” He nipped my ear, “Is that a trait you believe only they have?” I snorted, “No, but Xander is Hackura.” He chuckled, “I noticed.” I said, “So, Melanie believes…” I trailed off and snickered. Kayda shouted, “YES! Tell him about Drunk Melanie.”
He said, “The amount of mischief and fun in the bond is next level.” I said, “Drunk Melanie admitted to me once that if her Xander was ever into her and wanted her as his mate he wouldn’t be mad at her. Everyone else thinks he would be, but I’m not one to doubt Melanie and her research. Or anything she thinks about her Xander.”
He asked, “Her research tells her Alexander wouldn’t be mad?” She winked, “The table she has of probabilities gives his reaction. In fact, I could gauge yours with it.” He laughed, “A table that predicts things based on certain factors?” I winked and pulled it up. I turned my back to him and eyed his hard d**k under water. Hmmm. Kayda encouraged, “Yes, to all those thoughts.”
I plugged Hastein's profile into the table for the mission I was supposed to go on and watched it populate with a smile on my face. He asked, “What does the table say?” I answered, “That you would not care about the mission itself. Had I gone, you’d have killed anyone who was there by…” I toggled to that column and laughed.
He asked, “By what?” I answered, “By gouging out their eyes, cutting off their d***s, and if they said something dumb a blood eagle. Barring that factor you’d just slit their throats.” I felt his shock in the bond because it was probably accurate. Melanie had a lot of data in this damn system.
I added, “Oh and you’d demand a show.” He asked, “A show? Oh my god. Did she pose as a stripper?” I laughed, “Did she dance on a pole? No. Did she give lap dances? No.” He nodded, “Have you?” I grinned, “Of course I have. I once spent a few months working my way in a strip club so we could get several girls out of the back. I had to get the codes to the back doors though. Then my dance distracted them when my people moved in.”
He agreed, “I do want a show.” I grinned, feeling the bond. I laughed, “You want names to gouge out eyes too.” He admitted, “I do. Get me the name of the strip club and they all die for…” Kayda cooed, “For?” He growled, “Looking at what is mine the way they were.” I clapped his cheek, “I wasn’t turning tricks.” Kayda snorted, “As if.”
He said, “I wouldn’t care if you were. They’d still die. The exact way that goddamn table just said I would kill them.” I asked, “Why? Some of those girls enjoy it.” He said, “Yes, and that’s fine. If you had, I’d look into it and anyone who got handsy, aggressive, or anything else would be killed. The rest would be fine, but that’s not what we are talking about. You were working there to free other people because you’re a good person. Which means they all get to die.” I laughed, “That’s so cute.”
