Getting a Leg Up Pt.3

Melanie stormed forward and yanked the man’s belt off and his appearance changed. Aiden snarled, “Desperi O’Toole.” Uncle Eric grumbled, “That was a decent growl, god damn it.” Desperi mocked Melanie, “You’re new. That was not a Fairy charm. How did you know?”

Kingsley and Angelique glanced at each other. Melanie’s hand lit up again, but Alexander was already moving and full on kissed her. Angelique booed, “No fun!” Several people laughed with her that weren’t in shock. The Fairies were pretty shaken and pale.

Melanie stopped glowing a second before Alexander stepped back. She told everyone, “He’s not Desperi. He’ll be a descendant.” I linked my dad, “How the f**k does she know that?” I needed Kingsley to run a search in their system for that name.

Aiden declared, “Desperi was unaccounted for in our histories.” Melanie sighed, “I know for a fact Desperi is dead.” I jolted and looked down at my mate who was looking at Angelique. She nodded. f**k! The damn Vampire. Gabe sent me annoyance.

Aiden snorted, “Of course you do. Let me guess Charles killed him.” He was too smart sometimes. Melanie said, “Charles tried to hunt down the rest of Desperi’s family. He killed five, but there were ten. I’m pretty sure this is Gerdishek.” Pretty sure?

I whispered to Kingsley, “How sure is pretty sure to Melanie?” She answered, “Pretty sure is like ninety-nine point nine nine nine you get the point percent. Her being just sure is like ninety percent.” For the love of god. The man laughed, “Oh, I do wish I knew you. I’ve been on the run from that vampire and his family.”

Aiden questioned, “Who is your Ring contact?” Gerdishek laughed, “I don’t work with them, but it wasn’t hard to get them to offer what assistance they could by way of spells, charms, and getting around the visions of the young one. Though, they were supposed to have her. I heard that it was foiled by some werewolf girl. They are pathetic.” So, he did in fact work for them. Was he just dumb?

Alexander growled at him. I linked Uncle Eric, “Is there a plan to lunge at Alexander when this Fairy says something stupid?” He replied, “I’m busy keeping Haley from exploding him into pieces. You’re going to have to handle the Melanie/Alexander issues of it.” Aunt Haley looked to be the picture of calm except for her blazing eyes. The blocks were up in the bond which pissed me off.

Gerdishek scoffed at my cousin, “What? You’re not a girl.” Melanie snorted. Alexander, “You will give my mate respect or I’ll beat you unconscious, heal you, and beat you senseless all over again.” Angelique whispered, “Wow.” Gabe said, “I’d do the same so I’m not going to help you stop him brother.” I shot him an annoyed look. Kingsley sent her feelings in the bond she’d do it. I kissed her quickly.

Gerdishek snorted, “It was her? Damn. I should pay more attention. I could’ve taken her for myself. A shame they left that job to werewolves. I see they did a poor job of taming her. She seems quite wild.” So he’d figured out who she was then. Alexander hit him so hard I heard something crack. I was moving when Melanie wrapped her arms around me. She whispered, “I’m fine.” Well, at least she wasn’t team kill the guy. Or I’d be f****d.

Aiden commented, “So more of your family survived then.” Gerdishek laughed, “Not just them.” Melanie tensed. I needed a search on that system A.S.A.P. Aiylee asked, “What are you talking about?” Gerdishek stopped smiling. He hissed, “Who is keeping me here?” I actually scoffed. How could he not know the answer?

Aunt Haley joined the conversation, “Take a f*****g guess.” He glared at her. Aiden blocked her from view. He quietly said, “Eric.” Uncle Eric instantly moved to her side and I found myself right there with Kingsley.

Kayda’s booming fury that he looked at my Aunt shocked even me. Aiden said, “I am very aware of how your family feels about partial Fairies. I went back through our histories. Until you took over, partials were celebrated.” They were going down hard. In a blazing fire of fury. I locked eyes with my brothers and nodded.

Aiden continued, “They were just as powerful as some full blooded fairies. There was never one in the ruling family line, but in the books I’ve discovered that were hidden. It was always known partials even with a small amount of Fairy blood could perform certain magic so long as they were taught about their spark. Your family fanned the flame that led to my sister’s treatment here. My cousins were tortured, they were hunted. They didn’t even know why. Some of them had no idea of the powers they had. You will not get near my little sister.” He got that right in one.

Gerdishek snorted, “Some care for her, but I am not one of them. I think they should’ve killed her.” Snarls filled the room, but what had that Fairy palling was our golden eyes. Aunt Haley sent the feeling down the bond they wouldn’t have succeeded.

My dad linked, “I think your mate is hot to the touch.” She had melted a statue beside her. I grabbed her hand and she looked at me. I knew Kayda was on the surface and thanks Aesir she was wearing Melanie’s contacts. When did she get them? I wasn’t sure.

Aiden shouted, “No one would’ve DARED to kill my little sister.” Lucinda popped to him. Aunt Haley declared, “I’m fine, Aiden. He can’t hurt me.” Gerdishek said, “Again, I do not wish to. Or I could.” Melanie snorted.

No. I linked my Aunt, “Whatever you two are linking about don’t even think about it.” She winked at me then said, “Then I challenge you to a duel Gerdishek. You can even use all the damn powers you have.” f**k no. Kingsley sent me that it was a good idea and she wouldn’t lose. It wasn’t about her winning or losing. It was about being in this realm fighting people beneath her who never deserved the time of day.

Uncle Eric snarled, “NO!” Gerdishek complained, “I’m already injured, that's hardly fair.” Aunt Haley sighed as if bored. “Then we can fight when you heal because I’ll be damned if my son or I heal you.” Gerdishek smiled as iron cuffs were placed on him. He mocked her, “I’ll kill you, halfling.” I linked my dad, “Say we can kill him.” He didn’t reply.

Aunt Haley laughed and it pissed him off. He sounded like a petulant child when he shouted, “I am serious.” She spat at his feet and told him, “I am Princess Luna Haley Holloran Cambridge Conners. Far more capable people than your pathetic ass have tried to kill me. Guess what? They are all f*****g dead and I’m still here. You will be no exception. When I send you to the beyond, you have fun with our other brother. He’ll be f*****g pissed off about this. I have grown accustomed to feeling his presence. He is here. When you die there will be no rest because Arion will be there to make your afterlife hell.”

I went over to the corner where my Aunt had looked. I whispered, “I don’t know if you can hear me, but you need to figure out if Selene can die. So, do that.” I felt the wind at my back and considered it message received.

Aunt Haley groaned, “Typical male. You’re more afraid of my damn brother, who is dead, than of me. I’ll make you f*****g bleed before I send you to Arion. I hope you choke on our inadequacies in the dungeons.” Vines sprouted from the ground and wrapped around his legs. Gerdishek screamed.

Aunt Haley declared, “That vine taking you down to the dungeons, painfully, does not come close to my powers. Jackass.” Gerdishek flew through the floor and hit his head. The floor was repaired, but I could hear him on his way down. Aiden chuckled, “Guards, do make sure he’s in our worst cell.” They nodded and popped away. Other guards cut the rest down and led them down the dungeons.

Melanie sighed. Someone cleared their throat and pointed to the clock. Uncle Aiden said, “Ahhh, it’s almost New Years. No one can deny this has been quite the start to what promises to be a fun year. You all will see in a few days what my sister is capable of. Many of you have already, but this will be a show for you all to see.” I could think of literally so many better ways to start the damn New Year.

He continued, “The O’Toole’s chose to hide our past with partials and turned many against them. We have seen over these last twenty-six years why that was their follow. My sister and cousins are among some of the most talented fairies we have seen in centuries. If the O’Toole’s think they can challenge the promised siblings, they are far more deluded than even I thought. We will stand.” Because we’d never let them fall even if they weren’t the damn promised siblings.

He toasted, “The Holloran’s will reign in Faerie. We will NEVER live in those dark times again. We begin the New Year declaring that will reign. That ANY and ALL who come against us will suffer and die! We will wage war to keep our peaceful life. The O’Toole’s will NEVER rule in this castle again. We will never see that kind of disruption to our beautiful homeland again.”

Cheers rang out. Several people yelled out, “Long live the Holloran’s! Long live the King! Long live Princess Haley!” I felt my Aunt’s shock before she shut herself off again. The cheers continued, “Death to the O’Toole’s!” The atmosphere had become very charged. Alexander popped out.

I opened a portal and yanked Kingsley through with me. She asked, “What’s going on?” I said, “Run a search for the name O’Toole’s. You have the best access and I need everything Melanie has locked out to everyone else.” She grinned, put her hair up, and said, “Then let’s get to work. Melanie has a lot of research on them because Charles is obsessed with killing them.” For the first time since I heard his name I was ready to thank Aesir for him. I needed to get a head start here and he was going to give it to me.

We got through Christmas!!! LOL And Melanie's additional Christmas. H is aquiring a Christmas tree farm. Who is surprised?

Hastein's Core family (and Titus) know what Kingsley is. The hellion triplets are making plans for K's family. Who does that end well for? Would anyone stop them? Or would they just include their Fairy Cousins and Aunt Haley? Who would stop her? More importantly....what happens if they convince Grandma Yule Cat to join their fun? *Whispers Chaos*

IT IS NEW YEARS! Who is ready to hear Kayda's side of all that? Because they insulted her pet and her tiny Fairy non-roastables. Plus her mate is furious. You know she's going to be next level. We still have something coming because someone gives birth if you remember ;) So we have a parade coming up. H and K are on research duty. Who do you think they will pull in for that?
