Protective Brother Pt. 2

I jogged back to my place before taking off for a local Billiards place the group I was watching would be at. I changed my clothes and wiped the blood off me and left my place. I found them and they appeared to be more drunk than normal. Especially one guy. He rubbed his chest. They nudged him, “It gets better.” He said, “She wasn’t supposed to reject me back.” They chuckled, “You got her back for that. She’ll die alone in those woods five kilometers from here.” Damn it! I took back off out the back of the bar and jogged in the direction I’d seen them come in from in my surveillance. I found a burned body and rubbed my head. I said aloud, “This makes no sense. They didn’t burn her alive or they’d think she was already dead. Where did she go?” I found tire tracks and followed them. The car engine was still hot when I found it. A nondescript vehicle, that was smart. I went inside but no one was there. There was a trial of blood where someone clearly got cleaned up. I sighed talking through this out loud, “Someone has an underground for rejected mates. Maybe even abused mates.” It had to be that. We’d been butting up against these people for five months but hadn’t ever found them. Maybe this was a true safehouse. I found a pen and paper leaving a number for a burner of mine and offering help. We were on the same side after all. Honestly, this group could do more. They were clearly in the earthly realm more than we were. We caught extreme groups but this group didn’t seem organized. Or they were organized to appear unorganized. I thought both were a possibility. That they had some way of communicating their dangerous rhetoric without linking to each other. I groaned, “This feels like Satan’s coven all over again with this whole thought process about women belonging in the kitchen, pregnant, and silent bullshit. They had their franchises and I think these people do too.” It had to go deeper. What if it was against partials and not just mates that had ideas? That would make sense to me. God help those in this realm if someone was denying they were gay. Did this group target gay mates? I went back to the bar and found the one guy who had been left and was rubbing his chest. I asked, “Do you need an ambulance?” I silently added, “Or do you want me to put you in a grave?” He sighed, “I didn’t think she’d reject me back. They said this would put her in line. She’s just so outspoken. I fell in love with her that way, you know? She said it wasn’t fair that I expected her to change because of my new friends. She wasn’t supposed to leave me. I’ll go back and get her. They never need to know.” I said, “She’s gone.” He turned, “What did you say? She can’t be gone.” I shrugged, “Well, she is.” He cried, “No, she’s my whole world.” I laughed humorlessly, “You don’t hurt someone who is your whole world. I wouldn’t. I would treat her as a Queen. Which she will be as my mate.” He asked, “You a King or some s**t?” I replied, “Or some shit.” My best friend, Lincoln, sat beside me. I raised an eyebrow at him. He grinned, “Your Uncle told my dad you might need a friend. So here I am.” I snorted, “Uncle Eric?” He nodded. That made sense since his dad, Dawson, was Uncle Eric’s guard. The guy asked, “He’s your friend?” Lincoln answered, “I’m his best friend. To answer your question, he’s not a King yet. He’s the Crown Crown Prince.” I groaned, “You with that delegation.” He grinned, “Don’t hate the facts, hate the title. It needs a better one.” I rolled my eyes, “Linc, not now.” He grinned, “I know. You have a murderous look on your face. Are we killing him?” He pointed at the guy. Who grumbled, “Yeah, sure.” We ignored him. I answered, “Looking that way. He beat his mate for his buddies.” Lincoln grinned, “OHHH that means we have a lot of people to kill. I can’t believe you didn’t call me. You let everyone play telephone and I could've missed all the fun.” I asked, “How is it you look just like your dad, but you are literally your mom. Kashe would’ve said all those things to my mom.” He began to bob back and forth and answered, “First off, unlike my father, I have a beautiful complexion with melanin and he has none because he is as pasty as snow. So, that totally came from my mother.” I started laughing. He added, “Second because I’m the yin to yang. You bob and I weave. You are just like your dad and need someone like me. I’m so nice because here I am. So, what gives with this douche getting his mate when we don’t have ours? I’m offended on our behalf.” I shook my head. He nudged me, “Don’t lie, you’re offended too.” I replied, “I trust Aesir’s timing.” The guy asked, “Whose?” We still ignored him. Lincoln nodded, “Same. I just don’t like his timing. There’s a difference. I’m impatient and I have been waiting for sixteen years. It’s like a colossal joke. Then dickless Magee over there gets a mate and treats her badly. Did you get her out?” I answered, “Someone did.” He grinned, “Ahhh the mystery group strikes again. They’ve been beating us out left and right. They have issued a challenge and I will RISE to it.” I replied, “It stands to reason we won’t unless we get lucky. They clearly live here. We aren’t always out and these people are never connected to anything that hints at a bigger group. Which they are clearly a part of. It irks me.” Lincoln said, “And I love that you use words like irk.” I rolled my eyes. He said, “Let’s make waves and get outta here. You’ve had a day and baby B wants to do his first blood eagle.” I snorted, “He will.” Lincoln grinned, “Yes, but we have to get back for it and you’re talking to scum. You’re literally going to be King one day. You can’t talk to scum. He doesn’t have a good reason for doing what he did. He’s weak willed and weak minded. End him and the posse before Caius loses his shit.” I snorted, “How made is he?” Lincoln gave me a look, “How mad do you think he is?” I replied, “Well, he was supposed to be on a mission so I didn’t think he’d find out yet.” He shrugged, “Everybody’s got baby B radar today. Caius came thundering back into the realm all dominant and beat the s**t out of the guy before baby B distracted him. Wanna know how he did that?” I snorted, “I know full well how my brother distracted Caius.” The guy beside me said, “I don’t.” I answered, “He used sex.” Lincoln said, “He gave him a kiss first.” The other guy frowned, “Caius is a strange name for a girl.” I replied, “It’s not a girl.” He scoffed, “You gotta help baby B then. That’s not natural.” Lincoln and my eyes blazed. I grabbed the guy by his collar and dragged him out. I said, “You wanna talk about my brother again?” He startled, “It’s not how the gods and goddesses meant us to be!” I questioned, “According to who?” He shrugged, “It was on the pamphlet.” I slammed him against the wall, “What pamphlet? Where is it?” He answered, “I don’t know man, you’re not allowed to leave with them. You just memorize them.” I turned to link, “It’s a f*****g cult spreading their bullshit.” He nodded, “That does seem to be accurate. Kill him. We can find his address and search the place then kill the friends. We have things to do back home. I already know who we are banging at the blood eagle.” I sighed, “Linc.” He grinned, “You’re welcome. She’s hot. Both, obviously and definitely not into relationships right now.” That was good. I searched his pockets and we went to the guy's place. The guy was crying and trying to get away from us. Lincoln asked, “Dear god, why is he still alive?” I grabbed some whiskey out of the cabinet and explained. “He’s going to drink himself to death, that’s why. He’s so distraught he beat his girlfriend because she had opinions and had fire. He fell in love with her because of that and he let some whack jobs convince him to turn against her. Therefore, he’s drinking himself to death.” Lincoln grinned, “I like it.” He pointed at me, “He’s a thinker, that one. It’s why he’ll be the King one day. I’m more of a man of action then think later.” I replied, “Which is why you are working your way up the ranks of those sent to kill only.” He grinned, “It’s true. I have no patience for the dumb dumbs of the realms. I just want to kill them and get on with my life. I’m close to the top too.” I laughed. The guy pissed his pants when Lincoln held his head back. I forced him to drink three bottles of whiskey before he threw up and choked on it. Lincoln groaned, “Ugh, gross. You know what’s more satisfying than having to smell vomit? Snapping a neck back at the bar.” I rolled my eyes, “Search the place.” We found nothing. I frowned, “The mate lived here but there are no pictures and nothing of hers here. It’s like she was planning to go. There are marks where a suitcase was. Drawers half empty along with the closet. He didn't plan to kill her because he still wanted her. She was making plans to leave.” Lincoln nodded, “Smart girl.” Yes, the question was who helped her and how. I asked, “Who could amass a network like this in a few months? We’ve run across it worldwide?” He answered, “You.” I stared at him. He shrugged, “What? You could. We are dealing with you. That’s no good since we want to talk to them. They won’t unless they want to. How would you get yourself to talk to you when you don’t want to talk?” I replied, “I have a headache from the question alone.” I sighed, “I don’t know that I could do this. I have people who listen to me. I would imagine these are people across supernatural groups. It’s impressive that someone managed to get people to work together for the greater good across groups like that. A lot of people would join this other cause to spite me because of my name. Someone is amassing a network and leading them. That’s impressive.” Lincoln gasped, “Twice! You said it twice.” I asked, “What?” He said, “Impressed. I can’t believe the crown crown Prince and my best friend said someone was impressive twice. Now we have to find this version of you with their righteous crusade. I have to shake their hand.” I rolled my eyes, “Come on. Let’s get out of here.” He grinned, “YES! Onto baby B’s first blood eagle so ordered by you.” I replied, “You know he doesn’t like that you still call him that.” He grinned, “I know. Isn’t it great?” I threw my head back and laughed before opening a portal to go home. We saw Brenton first sitting next to Caius holding hands. Lincoln shouted, “BABY B!” Brenton groaned, “I have younger siblings.” Lincoln tapped his nose, “Don’t you worry you’ll always be Baby B to me.” Brenton sarcastically replied, “Joy.” Lincoln teased, “Don’t be sad. I even went to collect H so you could do your first blood eagle faster. He was taking his sweet time.” I roll my eyes. Brenton jumped up and yelled, “H!” I grinned as he ran over and gave me a hug. I asked, “Is everything ready for your first blood eagle?” I nodded to Caius who grinned at me. Brenton’s excitement was at an all time high. He answered, “Yes, I just have to announce it. Everything is all set up! I’ll text Aunt Haley. Don’t leave!” I snorted, “I’m not leaving.” He grumbled, “You could get an emergency call.” I asked, “Is that why you picked my pocket when you gave me a hug?” He gasped, “How did you know?” I laughed, “I’m your big brother. I know all.” He groaned, “Fine, but I’m not giving it back until later.” I shrugged and everything went into a flurry of activity. Lincoln came up to me with two women. He said, “H, this is Kelly.” I greeted, “Hi Kelly.” Her eyes widened and she whispered, “The Crown Prince?!” Lincoln replied, “No, he’s the Crown Crown Prince.” I groaned, “Linc.” He grinned, “Kelly here was looking for a partner for the orgy that would come from Baby B’s first blood eagle.” He pointed at himself, “Being the good person I am given the situation said I had someone in mind.” I asked, “What situation?” Kelly groaned, “God, please don’t tell him. It’s so embarrassing.” Lincoln said, “Her boyfriend cheated.” My eyes blazed. He continued, “You know Kathleen and I hook up.” I nodded at the girl next to him. He added, “Kelly is her sister. What’s a better f**k you than hooking up with the Crown Crown Prince for all to see.” I agreed, “That’s true.” Kelly gasped, “You’d…?” She trailed off. I answered the question she didn’t ask. “You are attractive. As long as you understand I don’t date, or have a child, and just want to have s*x I’m in.” She nodded, “I get all that and I have an IUD. No kids for me right now. Oh my god. Prince Hastein.” Lincoln grinned at me. I told her, “I’m more than happy to help you stick it to a douche who needs to learn how to treat women.” Plus, she didn’t know it was me Lincoln was offering up. She probably thought it was one of his brothers. Or our other friends. I told Lincoln, “Show her where to go near the stage.” I told Kelly, “I’ll bring you up when it’s time.” She gasped, “On the stage.” Lincoln said, “Absolutely. You gotta hammer the point home. Let him seethe with rage and all.” She giggled. She whispered, “Gratias tibi Princeps Hastein (Thank you, Prince Hastein).” I nodded to her, “It’s not like I’m the only doing a favor here. The need to be with someone will be strong. You’re helping me out too.” I heard her mutter, “Hardly.” As she walked away with Lincoln and Kathleen. I asked, “Are you coming out to see me, Cousin?” Alexander popped closer. He asked, “How did you know I was there?” I grinned, “I know things.” He huffed, “Everyone knows things.” I replied, “You will one day too. What’s bothering you?” He admitted, “I haven’t met Melanie yet.” I knew that but five years without seeing this girl was ridiculous. I told him, “Don’t feel bad. Levi hasn’t met her either and he’s been to their house a lot.” He shrugged, “Mom thinks she’s a prank.” I acknowledged, “I could see why she believes that, but you don’t agree.” He pursed his lips, “Sometimes I think she could be right. It just feels right. We tease Elise about it though.” I asked, “Is she here today?” He nodded, “I don’t know that EJ will have her watch, but they are here.” I told him, “I’m sure you’ll meet little miss Melanie sometime. Is she still good at dancing?” I swear they said she was. He grinned, “She wins all her competitions.” I wanted to laugh because he was bragging about her and they hadn’t met yet. I snapped my fingers, “I think Levi said she was smart too.” He nodded, “They had her tested and she’s a literal genius. They aren’t having her skip grades though because they want her to be with pups her age.” That was too bad. I could’ve had my parents offer her a spot at college here once she reached that level. It wasn’t really done, but I could probably get it worked out. She was smart and Alexander wanted to meet her. If I got her here that was more likely to happen. He told me, “I missed that Brenton got hurt.” I replied, “No, you didn’t because he wasn’t hurt. He fought and could’ve been hurt if Aunt Haley didn’t get there. I was coming, but she’s faster. You have a connection to your siblings pain, not all of us.” He grumbled, “It should be everyone.” He said, “You still have all of our bonds that live in you. You’d have come if he was hurt.” He put his head on my shoulder. I told him, “Don’t take on the weight of the world just yet, little cousin. Our time to rule will come one day. Yours before mine but now isn’t the time for those thoughts and feelings.” He argued, “Feelings aren’t always rational. Mom says that a lot.” I conceded, “That’s true.” Grandpa Rob came over, “Well hey there H and Alexander.” I greeted, “Grandpa Rob.” Alexander told him, “You should ask mom about hearing you’re a great grandpa.” He laughed, “Hugo made me a great great grandpa by your realms standards.” I snickered and Grandpa Rob asked, “What’s happening?” I answered, “It’s not fair to only call you a great grandpa and not Grandpa Remington and Grandpa Titus great.” He threw his head back and laughed. He said, “Yes, well I’m sure that’s odd for her to hear since once she arrived she heard all my great grandsons call me grandpa.” Alexander grinned, “She went on a rant about it when she got home.” I smirked. Grandpa Remington jogged up behind him. I told Alexander, “I’ll leave you with Grandpa Rob.” He tapped his chin, “I wonder what would happen if I told mom he was my great step-grandpa.” I shook my head, “Aesir help us all.” Grandpa Rob said, “Little man, your mom doesn’t call me grandpa.” Alexander said, “Because she doesn’t know you’d want her to.” Really? Well, that would be interesting for Grandpa Rob to solve. I asked, “What’s up, Grandpa Rem?” He grinned, “Well Grandma Sparkles and I missed you.” I nodded, “Sure, but it’s not why you’re here.” He said, “Are you sure Brenton is ready for this?” I nodded, “Yes or I’d do it. I want that man dead more than you can imagine.” He nodded, “Alright, I thought you’d want to bring said prisoner up. Haley wants to and I quote ‘Throw stones at that son of a bitch.’ So, Titus agreed.” I grinned, “Naturally. I’ll go get him.” I turned, “Is Cayden here?” He snorted, “Nope. He’s out on a mission. He’s determined to take over as Commander the second he can.” Then he would. Cayden was a very determined cousin of mine. I went down into the dungeons and found him. I laughed when I saw him. He sneered, “You may mock me now, son of Crown Prince Bjourn, but Goblins will have the last laugh against this family.” I replied, “First of all, you should see yourself. Caius did a number on you and he won’t officially be a member of this family for three years. Second, you will not have the last laugh against my family because I won’t let you.” I jeered, “It must get you that not only does my father take you all out with your threats against us but we have my Aunt Haley with us. We had her all those years and you never knew where she was. I bet that keeps you up at night since you all wanted her. I wonder how my Uncle Eric and cousins would react to that. A lot of them have very impressive powers. The oldest two can literally squeeze your brain. One has sunlight hands and she’s sneaky. I’d bet her mate is a Hackura.” I waved, “Then there’s the first set of twins. They can make you do whatever they want. You just think it sounds like the best idea. My best friend is quite jealous of that ability. Then there’s…” He cut me off, “I know what they can do.” I laughed, “I doubt that but I think it would hurt quite a bit if you’re blood eagled and they send their powers at you. Plus, they already have their wolves. They are very protective of my Aunt, their mother. It’s natural they’d force a shift and take a bit of you.” He paled as I grinned at him. I opened his cell and dragged him up top. Chester came up to me with Ithios. I grinned at them, “How are my two favorite head guards?” Ithios said, “We aren’t happy, H. Eagan, Asmung and Bragi are pissed too. You went to Brenton’s mission earlier than we predicted and we weren’t in place yet.” I winked, “You snooze, you lose.” Chester groaned, “This kid.” I called, “Man.” He waved me off while I laughed. Rusty came running up to me happily. The Goblin sneered, “A dog?” I ordered, “Rusty, impetus (attack).” Rusty snarled and jumped on the Goblins' legs and bit his ass. I ordered, “Release.” I felt a snack conjured in my pocket and spotted Alexander again. He waved and popped to the stage. I knelt down, “Good boy, Rusty.” He happily ate the cookies specifically for dogs that Oligar and Aunt Haley opened a business for here. Because dogs should have ‘tasty f*****g treats too.’ I patted him on the head then dragged the man to the horse carrying him. I noted it was Brenton’s horse, which didn’t surprise me. I tied him to the pole. Grandpa Titus said, “The stone walk will commence and your Princess has requested to throw the first stone.” Aunt Haley tossed one stone then spoke in Fealish, “Xed Tem Zecka Fren Yuit earth, Za decquest Zu decplicate Den hit Yim Sewq trying Ze harm Freetra nephew (As a child of the earth, I request you replicate and hit him for trying to harm my nephew).” The stone turned into ten and hit him all over. Her initial throw nailed him in the head. I complemented, “Nice throw.” She grinned at me. I felt everyone’s amusement in the bond because she was just supposed to throw one, but no one really cared. I clicked my tongue and led the horse up the hill.
