Stepping off the bus, Sienna surveyed her surroundings. The highway stretched endlessly ahead under the cold morning sky. Nearby, security cameras glinted atop the zebra crossing poles. If she followed the designated path, her face would be captured—a risk she couldn't afford.
Veering further down the road away from the crosswalk, she moved with quick, careful footsteps. She glanced left, then right. The asphalt was completely empty.
Sienna stepped onto the road, her heartbeat accelerating with every stride. The biting wind nipped at her skin, but she barely felt it. She was so close. Just a few more feet. She hurried her pace.
Then she heard it—a deafening, aggressive roar. The guttural growl of a high-performance engine shattered the silence, echoing violently through her chest.
Her head snapped toward the sound just as the sleek frame of a sports car surged toward her, its headlights glaring like twin suns in the dim light.
Panic flooded her veins. She tried to bolt, but her weakened, malnourished body betrayed her. Her foot caught on a loose stone. Before she could recover, her knees buckled.
Brakes screeched hysterically—rubber burning against hot asphalt. Blinding light engulfed her vision. Pain exploded through her skull and limbs, and the world spun into a dark, dizzying void.
A low, rhythmic beeping pulled Sienna from the darkness. Her eyelids fluttered as the harsh glow of fluorescent light stabbed through her blurred vision. A dull, heavy throb coursed through her limbs.
As her eyes adjusted, her gaze landed on a strange figure seated nearby, scrolling quietly on a phone. But it wasn't the woman's presence that made Sienna's breath catch in her throat.
It was her face.
A sharp, animalistic muzzle covered in short, russet fur. Pointed ears twitched atop her head, and glasses perched neatly on her snout. A lupine head on a human frame.
Panic flared in Sienna’s chest. Am I dead? Is this hell?
"What kind of nightmare is this...?" Sienna whimpered weakly, her voice raspy and hoarse. Before she could process any more, exhaustion dragged her back into the dark.
Dr. Selene Raynor turned her head as Sienna's faint whisper reached her ears. Her golden eyes narrowed with mild amusement. Setting her phone aside, she checked Sienna's vitals before dialing a number.
"Ethan, come to the infirmary," she instructed smoothly. "She woke up."
"I'll be there in two minutes," a deep male voice replied.
Moments later, Ethan Raynor stepped into the room, his eyes instantly fixing on Sienna’s pale, motionless face. "She passed out again?"
"Yes," Selene nodded softly. "Not from her injuries, though. I think she saw me in my wolf form and couldn't handle the shock."
Ethan let out a quiet sigh. "That makes sense."
"Don't worry," Selene reassured him. "She'll wake up soon. But when she does, you need to explain everything. She has a critical decision to make." She paused. "You erased all the security footage, right?"
"Completely," Ethan confirmed. "From the park to this estate, there is no digital trace of her escape. If I hadn't recognized her from the news, tracking her would have been impossible. Uncle Xavier also removed her scent trail from the key highways so tracking dogs can't follow her."
Selene smiled warmly. "Good work." Then, a subtle glint appeared in her eyes. "Now it's your turn, Ethan. You've cared about her since university, haven't you?"
Ethan's neck flushed red. "Mom... please. Just let me handle this."
Chuckling softly, Selene left the room.
Ethan pulled a chair close to the bed, his gaze softening as he looked at Sienna. His mind drifted back to their first day at university—the day he first saw Sienna Sterling. He had fallen for her instantly. Though he pursued her friendship, he soon learned she was already taken by Julian. Brokenhearted, he kept his distance, never letting his feelings ruin their bond.
Even after graduation, he kept tabs on her from afar. When tragedy struck her, he wanted desperately to intervene, but lacked the right. Now, fate had literally thrown her into his path.
A faint groan broke his thoughts. Sienna's eyes slowly opened. As her vision cleared, she recognized the tall, sharp silhouette standing beside her—dressed in his signature tailored dark suit and polished Oxford shoes.
"Ethan...?" Sienna whispered, disoriented. "Why are you here? Am I... dreaming?"
He leaned in gently. "No, Sienna. You're awake. And you're safe."
Her shoulders relaxed slightly. "Thank God..." Then, reality hit her. "Wait... where am I? Why am I with you?"
"My private estate," Ethan answered softly. "My mother treated your injuries."
Sienna blinked as a vivid image of the furred face flashed in her memory. "Your mother...?"
"You saw her in her true form," Ethan said, meeting her eyes directly. "My mother is Dr. Selene Raynor. Sienna... we are werewolves."
Sienna stared at him in stunned silence. "Werewolves...?"
"Yes. My father, Professor Adrian Raynor, and our entire pack live among humans under strict ancient laws," Ethan explained. His tone shifted, becoming grave. "But right now, there's a much more urgent matter."
He took a breath. "My mother's scan revealed that your baby is severely malnourished. Combined with the trauma from the accident, you will go into premature labor within twenty-four hours."
The blood drained from Sienna's face.
"You have two choices," Ethan continued calmly. "First, you can choose to terminate the pregnancy. You will recover fully within a month under normal medical care. It is the safest path for you."
He paused, his dark eyes locking onto hers. "Second, you keep the baby. But a human body cannot survive giving birth to a werewolf child, nor can a malnourished wolf pup survive without Alpha blood. To save the baby, an Alpha must mark and turn the child—and turn you as well so your body can endure the birth."
He took a deep breath. "If you choose the second option... I am willing to step forward, turn you, and take full responsibility as the child's father."
Sienna felt the world tilt beneath her.
"I won't force you," Ethan added gently, standing up. "Whatever you choose, I will support you unconditionally. But you must decide soon."
He turned and walked out, leaving Sienna alone in the quiet room with a choice that would rewrite her fate forever.
