The howl echoes through the forest, sending a wave of tension across Kael’s territory. Every member of the pack goes on high alert, their instincts sharp and ready.
Kael steps forward, his presence commanding. “Everyone to the borders,” he orders. “No one crosses without my word.”
The pack moves instantly, disappearing into the shadows. Rowan stays close, his eyes scanning the darkness.
“Elena shouldn’t be here,” Rowan says quietly.
Kael clenches his jaw. “She stays with me.”
Elena’s heart pounds as she watches the sudden shift—this isn’t just tension anymore. This is war.
Moments later, growls ripple through the trees. Shapes begin to emerge from the darkness—Lucian’s wolves, larger and more aggressive, their eyes glowing with hostility.
At the front stands Lucian Blackthorn himself, calm, confident, and dangerous.
“Well, well,” Lucian says with a smirk. “The great Alpha Kael… protecting a human.”
Kael steps forward, his voice low and threatening. “You’ve crossed my border.”
Lucian shrugs. “I go where I please.” His eyes flick toward Elena. “Especially when something… interesting catches my attention.”
Elena feels a chill as his gaze lingers on her.
Kael moves slightly in front of her, shielding her. “Leave. Now.”
Lucian’s smile widens. “Or what?”
The tension snaps.
In an instant, both sides shift—wolves replacing humans in a blur of movement. The forest erupts into chaos as the two packs collide. Growls, snarls, and the sound of claws tearing through earth fill the night.
Elena stumbles back, overwhelmed, her heart racing as she watches the battle unfold. She sees Kael in his wolf form—strong, fierce, unstoppable—as he confronts Lucian directly.
The two Alphas circle each other, power radiating from both of them. Then they clash.
The fight is brutal—fast and violent. Kael fights with controlled strength, while Lucian is wild and relentless.
Elena watches in fear, her breath catching as Kael is thrown back against a tree. For a moment, everything feels like it’s falling apart.
“No…” she whispers.
But Kael rises again, his eyes burning with determination. With a powerful strike, he forces Lucian back, gaining the upper hand.
Lucian retreats slightly, a dark laugh escaping him. “This isn’t over,” he says, shifting back into human form. “You can’t protect her forever.”
With a signal, his pack pulls back into the shadows, disappearing as quickly as they came.
Silence falls over the forest, broken only by heavy breathing and the aftermath of the fight.
Kael shifts back, injured but standing. Elena rushes to him, her hands trembling. “You’re hurt…”
“I’ll heal,” he says, though his voice is strained. His eyes soften as he looks at her. “Are you okay?”
Elena nods, but her expression is shaken. “This is because of me, isn’t it?”
Kael doesn’t answer right away. That silence says enough.
As the pack regroups, Rowan approaches, his expression serious. “This was just the beginning,” he says. “Lucian won’t stop now.”
Kael looks out into the dark forest, his jaw set.
The line has been crossed.
And now, there’s no turning back.
