Temperance looked intently at the newly completed manuscript that had been neatly placed on the desk of her editor. It had taken six months of living alone in a log cabin surrounded by an impressive pine forest, numerous half-eaten meals, and endless cups of herbal tea.Temperance, on the other hand, did not feel satisfied with her success. She had the impression that she could have done more with it.Her inner critic might just be saying something because it sounded a lot like her deceased uncle. An accomplished author with numerous books that have won prizes to boost!Temperance had the impression that she lacked merit even when the check was handed to her.
Georgia Collins could see her client's aggrieved expression.Temperance arose from her chair and gently embraced her client, like a mother would her child, aware of her emotional issues' past.As Temperance sobbed onto Georgia's left shoulder, she felt Temperance immediately collapse into a heap.
Georgia, I'm so sorry!Oh my goodness, just take a look at the mess I made on your lovely silk blouse!
Georgia attempted to reassure Temperance that everything was fine by grabbing the nearby box of tissues.Georgia called out to Raphael for personal assistance because she could tell Temperance was getting close to a "meltdown."Raphael didn't need to be told that a frothy hot chocolate with pink marshmallows floating on top and the most decadent chocolate chip cookies were needed right away because he had been in this situation before.
"Temperance, honey... Not to offend in any way.But when was the most recent time you saw your therapist?I only ask because you seemed to be making such progress and now... Well, it seems like you've gone back to where you started!
As Temperance tried to explain to Georgia why she no longer went to see Doctor Rhodes, she felt her lower lip tremble. She had once had the impression that a significant breakthrough was emerging. However, Temperance had felt the need to end all ties with that horrible man when Doctor Rhodes became a little too "up close and personal."
Naturally, it could have all been in her head. These days, temperance tends to struggle between reality and fantasy.Especially when she immersed herself wholly and completely in her work.
Georgia let out a sigh as she struggled to comprehend her rather complicated client, who in the seven years she had served as Temperance's editor and publisher had become more like a family.
"Temp, honey. You could really use a break, in my opinion.I'm referring to a vacation.a warm, tropical location where you can unwind by sipping Pina coladas while lounging on the white sand beach.Simply not thinking.Do you comprehend my point?Naturally, yours truly would be delighted to go with you.I know I could use a getaway, too!"
Temperance was aware that Georgia's proposal made sense. However, that nagging, critical critic once more surfaced.telling her that none of this, let alone a vacation, was her right!Temperance got up and went to the bathroom to the right of Georgia's seat, trying to regain her composure.Temperance looked in the mirror at the haunted face as she sprayed water on her face.
"Just do it!"She was scared by the voice in her head.
"You are aware of her Vicodin storage location.Your pain will be gone as soon as you swallow a handful or two."
"Nooooooo!"Temperance yelled so loudly that she was taken aback by how torturous the voice had sounded!
Georgia rushed in so quickly that she almost ran into Temperance's disheveled shape, which was all curled up in a ball.
Temperance allowed herself to be held so tightly and gently rocked to and fro for what seemed like an eternity. She gained the strength she required to silence the incessant ranting (inside her head) that had nearly deafened her earlier. It was reassuring and calming.
Before leaving for the day, Raphael poked his head in to see if he was still needed.Georgia made a hand gesture for him to leave as she said "thank you" to him. Finally, Temperance had stopped crying and shaking. She turned to face Georgia with such a look of love and appreciation after gently lifting herself out of the arms of her friend.Temperance had received exceptional support from Georgia.Georgia stood where most people would have turned and fled. She remained throughout all of it.Emotional upheavals continue on page after page until the very end.
"My dear, dear friend, I would say that you definitely deserve a vacation!"As she held her best friend's hands in her own, Temperance said.
So, is that a "yes" then?Georgia responded as they left the office and headed toward the entrance to the "G Collins Publishing House" reception area.
“Absofriggenlutely!”Temperance reacted by plastering a huge smile on her once-distressed face.
My shout, "And maybe we can get Raphael to come along with us!"Temperance spoke with a renewed sense of vitality and enthusiasm.
Georgia felt as though she could now take a breath.Like really relax and take a deep breath!first time in a very long time.Temperance felt as though something had changed, bringing her back from the brink of where she had "checked out" of herself. She was simply overjoyed to have her friend back, whatever it was.
Temperance couldn't contain her excitement about the upcoming adventures! She finally felt like she was free for the first time in a long time!Once and for all, the inside of her head voice of her Uncle was silenced! The mist had subsided! She also had the impression that she could think clearly without being distracted by the ranting, critical thoughts of an uncle who believed that everyone was inferior to him.
"Now, who is below whom? You old scum! She heard her own voice.
Both of the women started laughing out loud as soon as they saw Georgia's expression.Raphael arrived at the scene looking confused, but he was relieved to see Temperance's once-painful, etched face replaced with joy and giggles.
The three of them walked together toward the company minibus that was waiting for them.Temperance let out a sigh of relief as she glanced back at the publishing house for a brief moment. She was consumed by the book she had been working on for months, but it also helped her break the grip her Uncle had on her, even after he had left this world.Yes, she had almost gone insane while getting lost in someone else's fantasy and another realm. However, in the same way, it had pushed her to discover her own identity and strength.thereby freeing her from her past for good!On their vacation, they all lived happily ever after. THE END...
