RAYNA
I leaned against the glass fencing that lined the balcony and faced Nyx. She was so plump and soft like a peach. She made my mouth water like she did her clients. She was one of my favorites. Though looking at her now, her head was down and she was fidgeting with her fingers in her lap.
"I wish to leave Umbra boss. That's why I wanted to speak with you privately, the others don't know." She choked on her words. The cigarette fell from mouth that was agape.
"What the f**k did you say?! You want to LEAVE? LEAVE? I don't think I heard you correctly. You want to LEAVE Umbra? You want to LEAVE here? Umbra?" I sputtered as the color left my body and I began pacing.
"Yes boss, I found someone I want to spend my life with. She doesn't want me working here if we get together . You can understand why." She sobbed.
My skin was on fire with jealousy now. I turned and gripped the fencing so hard cracks started to form in the glass under the points of my nails.
"Vicki. She managed to sway you from me." I pouted. Nyx began to wail as she tried to speak. "Please boss! I know you've given me everything I've ever needed and I will never be able to pay you back for it!"
I exhaled all my jealousy and anger and wrapped Nyx in my arms. She was so soft you could easily doze off in her embrace.
"I know one way you can show me your gratitude." I purred as she started to shake in my arms. I slipped my finger under her chin and raised her face to look at mine. Her eyes were violet and puffy, overflowing with tears.
"Invite me to the wedding." I giggled.
Her tears turned joyous as she smiled from ear to ear.
"Nyx why were you so afraid of telling me. I haven't kept anyone here against their will."
I asked even though I knew damn well I scared her a moment ago.
"I wasn't afraid of telling you. I was afraid of losing you as an important person in my life. The possibility of hurting you and you never speaking to me again." She informed me.
"Good gods child, I know I'm unhinged most of the time but I believe in earning loyalty. I would never be so foolish to throw it away once I had it." I said sternly and patted her on the head.
"Now go get cleaned up and head down. We can have a meeting after close to tell everyone." I instructed.
As she toddled off I rubbed my temples and smoothed out my dress.
"Damn it." I cursed under my breath as I wiped away a tear from my cheek.
After making it to the hallway of rooms, I stopped before a door that read Ember. *knock
