It looked almost human now.

Tall.
Made completely from black smoke and crimson light.
Its red eyes locked onto Damian.
“Well?” it whispered.
Damian’s jaw tightened painfully.
His wolf roared violently inside him.
Protect her.
Never hurt her.
But the dark wolf laughed softly.
“You cannot save her forever.”
