Chapter 5: The Decision

“Haaaahhhh…” I let out a sigh.

“You still thinking how the spy escaped you?” Eve pats my head.

“Well, I thought I could finally get my hands now on some intel but!!” I buried my face in my desk, “This sucks, I’m not what I’m used to be anymore”

“That’s not true” She sits down facing me, “You’re still you, maybe you’re still getting used to it”

“Speaking of getting used to it, how’s Sonya?” I looked around and didn’t find her, “This is really getting out of hand”

“I know, but we can’t just pretend like nothing’s happening” Eve looks worried, “There are people taking advantage of what they have”

“Yeah, it seems that people from the past still stay the same as ever” I looked out of the window.

“Uh-huh, we haven’t changed either” Eve giggled.

The bell rings and Sonya isn’t here yet, looks like she won’t be coming to school today either. For the past week, the school went on as usual and nothing weird happen except Sonya not coming to class since last week. Eve and I planned to visit her but we don’t know where she lives.

The class went on and at the end of the class, the professor had something to announce.

“Class, who would be willing to bring notes for Mrs. Dreyl. Come to the faculty at lunch time”

“Me!” Eve and I simultaneously raised our hands.

“Okay then, come with me”

We went with the professor to the faculty. He gave us some notes and the address to Sonya’s house. The staff of the faculty won’t simply give private details about students and not to mention, Sonya hasn’t been replying to us either.

“You can go after the class—“ Professor was cut off before he could continue.

“I’ll go with them now, please excuse them. Meow” The owner enters the faculty.

“They still have classes this afternoon” He glares at the owner.

“Don’t worry about that, I can give them special classes. Meow” She glares back at the professor.

For some reason, I can see a rivalry here.

“Come on you two. Meow.” She gestures us to follow her.

When we got out of the faculty I can finally let out a laugh.

“That wasn’t so intimidating” I laughed out loud.

“Shut up, can’t you remove this from me?! Meow.” She crosses her arm.

“Maybe not for a year” I looked away.

“Arc can’t you at least not make it a year? She’s still the owner of the school, you know”  Eve pleaded.

“That depends~~” I winked at her.

“M-maybe Mrs. Melissa can endure it for a year” Eve lightly blushes.

“I can’t believe you! Meow”

“Well, let’s talk about this the other time.

We got off the school and rode a car. After about 30 minutes we stopped in a huge mansion.

“Wait, is this Sonya’s house!?” I looked outside and boy, it really is huge.

“The princess is still a princess” The owner said and opened the door of the car.

We also got out of the car and rang the doorbell on the huge gate. The owner did the talking and we went inside. The owner didn’t lie when she said that the princess is still a princess.

The inside of the mansion looked like a castle. There were many pictures of her hanging from she was a child until now. There were many butlers and maids too.

“Welcome to our humble abode” A foreign man in his 30’s greeted us.

We returned the greeting and stated our purpose. This man is Sonya’s father she resembled him a lot. We were told to wait in one of the waiting rooms while he wakes Sonya.

After a few minutes, Sonya came in her pajamas and she looked cute as hell.

“Uwaaa, Sonya you look cute!” Eve hugs Sonya.

Sonya rubs her eyes, “Virelia? Master’s master? Advisor?”

We were shocked when she said that in front of her dad but her dad just smiled at us.

“We brought you notes?” I suddenly tried to change the topic.

“Ehh? But it’s still Sunday” She yawns, “Why would there be notes?”

She accepted the notes and her eyes widened.

“Papa! You told me it’s still Saturday yesterday!” She crosses her arms.

We all are dumbfounded when we heard her.

“Well, you look exhausted last week that’s why I told everyone to configure the clocks around the house and swapped your phone with your friends contact so you won’t be disturbed” Her father tries to convince her daughter

“I didn’t go to class for one week! Papa, I hate you!” Sonya runs away leaving her father heartbroken.

Looks like the three of us began to understand Sonya’s innocence. 

We waited for Sonya’s father to recover until he began his storytelling. I was about to sit this one out but I suddenly remembered something.

“Master! Father made me a flower crown!” The little girl excitedly shows the necklace in her hand, “Isn’t it beautiful”

“It’s beautiful just like the crown your father wears” I gave her a pat on the head.

“But, father’s crown is made of gold and jewels!” She pouts.

“Yes, but your crown is made from love and fresh flowers!”

Her eyes suddenly sparkled.

“I’m gonna go tell father I love him a lot!” She was about to run away but I stopped her.

“Wait” I took the flower crown and put it on her, “There”

“Hehehe” She smiles then hugs me, “I love you too!”

She then runs away.

“That’s so sweet!” Eve exclaimed.

I suddenly came back to reality.

“But, her mother is already dead” His father looks down looking sad, “If only she would be here…”

“I’m pretty sure… Wherever your wife is now, I’m sure she would be proud” I warmly smiled at him.

His eyes widened as if he suddenly remembered something.

“You’re right..” He smiles, “But for some reason, you sounded like you know her”

“I just remembered someone similar to Sonya” I answered back.

Then we heard footsteps, it was Sonya.

“You’re master!” She points at me, “Those were the words you said back then!”

Oh crap, I accidentally revealed myself.

“Hmmm” His father looks at me, “So you’re the one Sonya always mentions”

“Ehh?”

“I know what my daughter is up to. Well ever since she was a child I saw her making her toys float myself and ever since then, whatever she tells me I believe her” He laughs, “She always tell me how her master is amazing and lovely”

He pats her daughter’s head, “Looks like it’s true”

“See! I told you, papa!” Sonya looks at me like a child, “Master! Can you show us your magic?”

“Well…” I looked at Eve and the owner.

“Don’t worry about the people here, they are used to seeing Sonya using magic.” His father said.

“Okay then, I guess it’s okay.” I clapped my hands and lights from the room began to disappear.

The room became dark. I clapped once again and small lights began to float around the room.

“Wow… I didn’t know you could use Fal-Hel this way” Eve said while staring at the small lights, “They look like fireflies”

I smirked, “Not just fireflies”

I clapped once again and the lights formed several small animals. I waved my hand, closed it and opened it. Small particles of different colors began to ascend and went to the ceiling. I made a circular motion with my finger.

“Here’s a little present…” I stopped and held my hand out.

A flower crown and a crown formed using the small lights. I gave the crown to Sonya and the flower crown to his dad.

I gave them a nod then Sonya puts the crown on his father’s head and his father did the same with the flower crown in her head.

“So beautiful…” Eve muttered.

“This is… I’m unable to say it in words. Meow” The owner looks amazed.

Sonya and his father looked at each other and smiled.

They approached me and they bowed their heads

“Thank you, queenness!” They both said simultaneously.

“Thank you, queenness!” The king and the princess bowed their head.

I can’t help but smile, I also lowered my head. Then we all raised our heads at the same time.

The room’s light came back and the animals made from light disappeared.

“Awww..” I heard Sonya’s disappointment.

“Maybe next time again?”

“Then I’ll invite you every day!”

We all laughed at Sonya’s enthusiasm. After that, we spent the whole afternoon chatting with them and it was a pleasant one. The feeling of being welcome sure is nice.

Time passes swiftly and it’s already getting dark outside.

“We’re going now, thank you for everything” We three said at the same time.

“You’re always welcome here! Please think of our home as your home as well” Sonya’s dad smiles at us.

“I’ll see you all at school!” Sonya waves goodbye.

We bid our farewells once again and went inside the car. While on our trip, I felt the silence between the three of us but it wasn’t an awkward one.

“Hey? You guys okay?” I tried to break the silence.

“Yeah, I’m just thinking about my parents” Eve looks at me and is wearing a smile, “I learned a lot this day”

I pat her head instead of answering

“Well… There are many things I also learned but knowing that you are the queenness…. I feel ashamed. Meow” The owner looks down.

“Don’t worry about that, besides I’m no longer the queenness” I looked outside of the window car, “Look how much has changed”

From houses to roads, everything seems to progress. Well but how about us? Are we gonna stay the same? I mean it’s not a bad idea but some people back in our world are… I can only hope that those people won’t reappear ever again because if they were to reappear again, this beautiful world will be turned to ashes.

I looked at Eve’s sleeping face. I feel peaceful at the moment/

“These factions… Can we negotiate with them?” The words suddenly comes out of my mouth.

“Some of them, but each of them have already a goal in mind and I’m afraid, they are willing to do everything to achieve their goal. Meow”

“Then, do they already know how powerful Fal-Hel is in this world?” I keep caressing Eve’s hair

“What do you mean?”

I turned my look on the owner, “These people are no match to us, even if they use their nuclear weapons and modern technology. They can’t defeat a user of Fal-Hel.”

“Ehhh? T-then are you saying that these innocent people can’t defend themselves at all? Meow?” Her eyes widened.

“I’m sure you already realized this, but you need to accept this. These people are like a lamb to the slaughter.” I let out a sigh.

“Then… Millions will die! Meow!” She bit her lip in frustration, “Because of those selfish bastards! Meow!”

“That’s why I propose an alliance” I looked at her seriously, “But, we need to find my family from the past first. My daughters and a close friend.”

“Then I will relay this to the princess! Meow!” She lowers her head, “But, why would you get involved in something like this? With your power, you can stay out of this together with the princess. Meow?”

“You see, I hated wars even though I have my part in them. However, the last time that I decided not to get involved, many lives were lost. Good soldiers, innocent people, friends, acquaintance, all of their blood is in my hands and this time, I refuse to make the same mistake twice.” I clenched my fists, “The Dargon Kingdom is also under my protection back then since the king and I back then created an alliance”

“Then, the princess…” She muttered.

“She will become the Dargon Kingdom’s new queen, but we will hold that back for now” I stretched my arms, “We need to find allies first”

“Where do we find allies? Meow?”

“Of course, the school!”
