I hear into the kitchen slowly but it's empty. Okay backyard then. I walk out of the open and inviting door just to get thrown into a wall of bricks. "Oh f**k!" I groan as I massage my shoulder grateful I did not fall on my face. No shield could have stopped that. "As someone who has magic too, your shield is useless to us," I hear uncle Carter's voice above me and I turn to look up at him. He's standing on the roof. In a blink of an eye he jumps down but I roll away before he jumps on me. I think of him choking on the air around him and he starts to fall to his knees,his hands gripping the grass on the floor. My mistake. I feel the grass around my feet tighten their hold on me as I get lifted up into the sky by mom. I feel the shield of water around me and I hold my breath as tightly
