It was half eleven. The catering staff must have arrived by now, she thought, making her way to the kitchen. It was empty. She’d told the caterers to be there by eleven. She checked the turkeys were still in the ovens and haven’t overcooked. Once she was satisfied they were OK, she phoned the catering company. It rang four times before going to an answering machine. She left a desperate message and hung up. She wasn’t going to stress herself out, not yet. There could be a perfectly good reason why they hadn’t arrived yet.
