The sunlight slipped through the curtains slow-slow, warming the room with a soft golden glow. I woke up feeling warm. For a second, I didn’t even open my eyes. I just lay there, comfortable, listening to the quiet sounds of the apartment. Then I became aware of the arm wrapped around my waist and the solid warmth pressed against my back. Zaire. A small smile tugged at my lips. The memories from the night before drifted through my mind, making my cheeks warm. It had been messy and emotional and vulnerable in a way neither of us had really allowed ourselves to be before.
