The sun crept slowly through the floor-to-ceiling windows, soft golden light spilling into the living room. The once-dim room now held the warmth of morning, the sounds of birds outside stirring the stillness into something almost sacred. I blinked awake, my lashes fluttering as my eyes adjusted to the light. My head was still tucked under Zaire's chin, one arm curled against his chest, the other hand resting over my small bump like it belonged there. Like *I* belonged there.
