I shift slightly on the couch, my bump brushing against Zaire as I smile to myself. “Zai,” I say softly, “I woke up in the nursery earlier.” His eyes lift to mine right away, like he’s already paying attention even before I finish. “Everything’s done,” I tell him. “It’s perfect. The colors, the clothes, the blankets… even the little books are all set. The maid did a great job.” He leans back a little, watching me with that calm look he gets when he knows something I don’t. Then he shakes his head slowly. “The maid helped, yeah… but that’s not why it looks like that.” I raise an eyebrow. “Oh?
