Luca’s POV The drive back to the hotel felt like an eternity. The shadows outside seemed darker, heavier, as if the night itself was pressing in on me. The silence in the car was broken only by the occasional update from Mario, none of which made any sense. The guards on our floor were all dead. Christine’s room had been locked from the outside. Yet somehow, no alarms were triggered. No cameras had caught anything. It didn’t add up. “Boss, we’ve swept the entire floor,” Mario said, his voice tense. “No explosives, no devices, no sign of forced entry.
