The blessed blood

299 Words
The wound across Kael's shoulder was deep enough to kill an ordinary wolf. Dark blood soaked his tunic as he leaned against the stone wall, his breathing growing weaker. Elara rushed to his side without thinking. "You need a healer." Kael gave a faint smile. "I've found one." She tore a strip from her sleeve to bandage the wound, but the sharp edge of his broken armor sliced across her palm. A single drop of her blood fell onto Kael's injury. The moment it touched his skin, a brilliant silver light spread across the wound. Before their eyes, torn flesh knitted together. The bleeding stopped. The scar vanished as though it had never existed. Silence filled the room. "No..." Lucian breathed. "It can't be," Adrian whispered. Riven stared at Elara's trembling hand. "The legends were true." Darius slowly fell to one knee. "The Blessed Blood..." Kael looked at Elara with wonder, his golden eyes filled with emotions he could no longer hide. "The Moon Goddess has truly returned her to us." Elara stepped back in disbelief. "What... am I?" Lucian gently lifted her hand. As the last trace of blood disappeared, a glowing crescent mark bloomed across her wrist. The sacred mark of the Chosen Luna. Every Alpha felt the ancient bond tighten around his heart. They had searched for her across kingdoms. Now there could be no doubt. She was theirs by destiny. Yet the oldest law of the realm demanded something none of them wished to share. One day, each Alpha would have to receive the Luna's sacred mark to complete the Blood Oath and unite the five packs forever. But as Kael looked into Elara's frightened eyes, one painful thought echoed through every Alpha's heart. He did not want to share her. Neither did the others.
