The wind never lies

The castle buzzed with laughter as guests gathered for Elara's birthday celebration. She smiled politely, unaware that danger had already entered the palace. High above the towers, a gentle breeze brushed against Adrian's wings. He closed his eyes. The wind was speaking. Its whisper carried only one message. "They mean her harm." Adrian's expression darkened. He immediately found the other Alphas. "The wind has warned me," he said quietly. "Some of the young women intend to lure Elara away. Their accomplices are waiting outside the palace for a signal." Kael's eyes turned cold. "Then we let them believe their plan is working." The five Alphas silently took their positions. Meanwhile, the daughters of several neighboring packs surrounded Elara with warm smiles. "My Lady," one of them said sweetly, "the view from the eastern balcony is breathtaking. You simply must see it." Elara smiled. "I'd love to." As soon as they stepped onto the balcony, one of the young women discreetly raised a silk handkerchief into the air. It was the signal. Outside the palace walls, hidden men rushed forward. But they had taken only a few steps before five shadows appeared. Kael. Darius. Lucian. Riven. Adrian. The ambush ended almost as quickly as it began. The intruders were overwhelmed before they could reach the palace, while the guards captured the surviving conspirators. The young women on the balcony froze as the Alphas surrounded them. Their smiles vanished. "You knew..." one whispered. Adrian looked toward the open sky. "The wind always tells me the truth." Within the hour, the Alpha Lords who ruled the neighboring packs arrived at the castle. The moment they learned what their daughters had done, shame filled their faces. One by one, they bowed before Elara. "We offer our deepest apologies." Another turned sharply to his daughter. "You were warned never to raise your hand against the Chosen Luna." "Did you truly believe attacking her was worth bringing dishonor upon our entire pack?" The young women lowered their heads, unable to answer. Their fathers ordered them to return home under heavy guard. As the guests departed, Kael turned to Elara. "No matter who comes after you..." "You will never face them alone," Darius finished. The other Alphas nodded. Five different hearts. One shared promise. Anyone who threatened Elara would first have to face all five Alpha Lords.
