Ch.12: Knews

King Lucas POV: “Our coach was attacked by rogues…” I read, gripping the letter in my hands as all 10 Alpha Kings and their Luna’s and mistresses intently listened carefully to every word. “…The Luna was badly injured. It has been almost two weeks and she has yet to show any signs of waking up or that of a full recovery. It pains me to have to inform you that she might not survive.” My heart broke as I read the contents aloud to our Alpha King of all Alpha’s and my dear friend, Axel. “I’m calling for an emergency war meeting. I expect all Royal officials and their partners to participate in the following events. Any who fails to show up will be denounced and made rogue. Revenge and justice will be ours. Alpha King of All Alpha’s, Axel.” I finished. “Poor Axel.” Cheryl, my mate whimpered. “And he just found her. How did this happen?” “How did the rogues know where and when to surprise attack Axel and the Luna?” Tom pitched in suspiciously. “Don’t make this into something it isn’t,” Rava hissed. “It just a bad thing that happened. I bet the rogues were just testing the boundaries again and they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.” “Rava is right.” Derrick agreed. “We shouldn’t start jumping to a conclusion, especially right now. The rogues openly attacked our king. We need to stick together, rather than argue amongst ourselves.” “Still…” Kayla suspiciously began, but then was cut off by Jeremy. “Kayla!” He scolded. “Derrick is right.” “More importantly, did you hear how he threatened to denounce and make us ROGUE?” Derrick scoffed. “The power has gotten to his head.” “CAREFUL DERRICK.” I growled. “He is still your King.” “King or not, he cannot threaten us.” Jason finally joined in. “Did you notice that the rogues have stopped all their attacks?” Tom asked. “They did go up against King Axel himself.” I reasoned. “The Luna is pretty strong herself. Together they must have done a number on the rogues.” “He obviously wasn’t that strong, or his mate wouldn’t be fighting to hang on to her life.” Derick pointed out. “And now he thinks threatening us will help him.” “His true mate is hanging in the balance between life and death. He’s angry and in pain. Give him a break.” Kayla barked annoyed. “I thought you didn’t like her,” Rava said arrogantly. “I may not like her, but I would never wish for someone’s mate to be taken away from them.” She growled. “I couldn’t imagine losing Jeremy, my mate. But I guess that’s something you wouldn’t know.” “He’s our king. He needs to be held accountable for his actions. We should confront him on this issue before he gets out of control.” Derrick cut in as Kayla stomped off pissed. “Kayla!” Jeremy shouted as she continued to walk with her back turned angrily. “I guess I should go after her.” He groaned as everyone laughed. “You should get a leash on that girl of yours. She’s really too outspoken. If you want, I could train her personally.” Derrick said with disgusting lustful eyes as Jeremy's hands were wrapped around his wrinkly neck. “SHE IS MINE!” His eyes were fully black. “That’s enough.” I grabbed Jeremy’s arm, pushing him off Derrick. “We should all leave and start preparing for war.” “Cheryl.” She placed her hand on my bicep as I escorted her out. “What is wrong with them?” She huffed. She was so cute when she got mad. “How can they be so insensitive!?” “Cheryl,” I sighed, placing my hands on her cheeks and placing a loving kiss on her forehead. “Not here. There are too many ears.” “LET THEM HEAR!” She growled. “CHERYL.” I said coldly, using my alpha power to make her submit. “I’m sorry, Lucas.” She pouted. “It’s just Axel’s mate might die… And I like her. She was different.” She whimpered. She’s so cute. How did I get so lucky to have her as a mate? “I know.” I hugged her gently. “She would’ve made a great Luna.” Royal Rogue Guard POV: “YOU FOUND HER!” The rogue Queen's 2nd in command exclaimed overjoyed. “Why did you not bring her here?” “…,” The Witch hesitated before saying, “She’s Axel’s Mate.” “His Mate!” “The fates have quite a sense of humor.” Lady Elizabeth walked into the room. “Why did you not take her away from that man?” “I would’ve, but Irene forced me through her portal before I could.” Leon snarled, glaring daggers at the Witch. “The moon goddess made them mates for a reason. To separate them would be as if going against nature itself.” “To hell with nature and fates!” The 2nd in command growled. “Ava is innocent in all of this!” “I knew she was going to be pissed.” Leon chimed in. “Shut up Leon.” Lady Elizabeth glared. “To fight the fates is to repeat the past. Irene was right to leave Ava. Besides, Axel won’t harm her.” “If we had let the fates be, Ava would already be dead.” The 2nd snarled. “She isn’t ready for this world.” “Why is the moon goddess doing this?” “You knew eventually Ava would have to return. None of you could stay there.” The witch said flatly. “Our Queen doesn’t need this!” the 2nd in command growled. “On top of everything, we now need to deal with Axel. When she finds out…” She looked down at the ground wearing a pained expression. “First things first, we need to talk to both Ava and Axel,” Lady Elizabeth declared. “Whose Axel?” A small human boy came prancing in. “Brisk?!” Leon yelped. “What are you doing here?” “I was wooking for mommy.” He said innocently. “Ava’s with Axel?” “When are you going to tell him the truth?” The witch asked, making everyone glare at her. “Hush, he’s only a child…” The 2nd in command said swiftly before smiling gently at the boy. “He’s human.” The witch said coldly. “Don’t make the same mistake with him that you made with Ava.” “He’s going to find out.” “Ava’s different!” Leon snapped. “She’s not human.” “Did I do somefing wong?” The boy’s eyes began to water. “I’m sowy.” “No, no, no.” Lady Elizabeth soothed. “After I finish here, I’ll come and play with you. Okay?” He nodded, sniffling. “Guard, take him to the garden.” “Yes, mam.” I picked up the little human boy that was no more than 4 or 5 years old.
