Ch.11: Death is to Easy

1178 Words
Ava’s POV: Everything is black and foggy. Where am I? In all directions there is nothing as far as the eye can see; nothing but darkness. Am I asleep? Trying to find my way out of the dark, I saw a figure standing a few feet away from me. Getting closer, I recognized his back and brown curly hair. “Leon?!” I gasped. He smiled, turning around and facing me. “Why are you here?!” “How did you get here?!” “I’ve missed you so much!” A tear dropped from my eye on to the pitch black ground, creating a ripple effect, making me fall to the ground. Then suddenly, as if the darkness transformed into shadow like wolves. Surrounding us from every angle, Leon stepped in front of me, throwing himself to the mercy of the wolves. “NO! DON’T DO THIS!” “I just got you back!” “Please!” “I don’t want to be alone again…” tears began to fall one after another like a sea of pain. I tried to run after him, but he was just too far away. The darkness had swallowed him whole. “GIVE HIM BACK!” I screamed at the pitch-black abyss. And then right before my eyes, my precious younger brother's pale cold body laid limp on the ground lifeless. “Why!” “Why did you take him away?!” “Why is this happening?!” “Leon, why did you do that?!” “Did you think I’d forgive you if you died?!” “I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!” “AAAHHHH!!!” I screamed, shattering the darkness. My brother was gone and now I was staring at a room full of mirrors. “ You're in so much pain, little one.” My reflection said, staring back at me, but with black eyes. “We are strong. If revenge is what you want, I can give you power.” She smiled from ear to ear, making me shiver. “Revenge is weak,” I answered. She frowned, tipping the side of her head playfully. “What do you mean?” “I get nothing from revenge. I don’t want to hurt anyone.” “ Nobody cares about that.” She said flatly. “True, but I do.” “At what price will you have to pay for that?” She asked. “Your life?...” “Not enough?” That’s when she snapped her fingers and Brisk appeared in the mirror. She grabbed his small neck, staring at me as she began to squeeze. He looked at me with a pained face, grabbing and scratching at her hands. I know it’s not real, but I can’t watch it! No! “STOP IT!” I screamed as she let go, making Brisk vanish into thin air. “Too much?” She c****d her head, grinning wide. “I would never hurt him!” I exclaimed with tears in my eyes. “I know. But would you kill for him?” She asked as I sat in silence staring down. “I see. How about this?” She said as Mistress Rava appeared in the mirror alongside Axel. He grabbed her hips and slammed his c**k into her slutty p***y as he bit down on her neck, marking her. My blood boiled at the sight. "Enough.” I snarled, glaring at my reflection as the two disappeared. “Still not enough?” “Your wrong….” I seethed. “I would kill for my brother.” She looked back at me wide-eyed. “But I would not kill Rava or Axel.” She looked at me confused. “Death is too easy for those who betray me.” I said with venom dripping from every word as my reflection smiled wide- eyed as everything began to fade away. My eyes weighed down as I slowly peeled them open as I awoke from my dream. It was blurry at first, but eventually my eyes began to adjust to the light. I sat up in bed where I found Axel laying his head on my thigh. Remembering all the events, my eyes watered. I ran my hand through his messy black hair. He looked exhausted and tired, but he didn’t seem to have any injuries. I was sure he would be bedridden for weeks. Since meeting him, my life has been thrown into a roller coaster. He fought for me even when he was sorely outnumbered. He could have run, but he stayed. He has been super patient with me straight from the beginning. Maybe I could learn to love him… If I didn’t already… I was going to give him hell when he decided that I was going with him to his home without consulting me, but then I just couldn’t. After sitting in that dining room full of snobs, I kind of understood him. Since we met, he’s been protecting me, giving me space, and trying his best to understand me. “Axel?” I called out softly. “Ava?!” He popped his head up. “Hey there.” I smiled. “Never do that again!” He said, pulling me into a tight hug as if he couldn’t believe I was there. “I was so worried!” “Next time, wake up faster!” He ordered, trembling, holding my body in his arms. “How long was I out?” I asked, confused. I didn’t want to talk about Leon. I just wanted to forget. “2 weeks…” He said, pulling me in even closer. I could feel the sparks on my skin; the love seeping through. I just couldn’t control the tears as they began to flow uncontrollably. “Thank you.” I mumbled through my sobs. “Thank you for not leaving me.” “I will never leave you.” He said, kissing my forehead. “Axel?” I sobbed. “What is it?” He asked sweetly. I choked before asking, “… What happened to Leon? The boy that pulled me up when I was about to fall off the cliff.” I felt my throat tighten as I squeezed the back of Axel's shirt for dear life, as if the world was ending. My whole body trembled as my vision became blurry. “Leon and the witch got away.” He answered coldly, as if recalling the memory that only sounded like music to my ears. “HE’S ALIVE!?” “Yes…” He said as if he felt guilty. “Oh My God!” I smiled, jumping up, grabbing Axel’s face and plopping a kiss on his lips. He tensed up surprised. “Was he badly hurt?” I suddenly came down from my high to the realization that he could be seriously injured. “Do you not remember?” He asked, confused. “Remember what?” I asked, feeling gravely ill. Please god, tell me he’s okay. “You saved him.” “No, I didn’t.” I looked at him confused. “I must have passed out because I don’t remember anything after the wolves attack him.” I exclaimed. “Because of you, the rogues and the witch stopped their attack. Leon wasn’t injured at all.” “That can’t be.” I stared wide-eyed at Axel, completely dumbfounded. “Who is he to you? Leon?” He asked, looking down with his hands balled in a fist, backing away from me as if he was scared of my answer. “Is he why you keep rejecting me?” I walked up to him and placed my hands on his cheeks, staring him in the eyes, smiling softly. “He’s my precious younger brother.” I answered, kissing him lightly on the lips.
