Preparation

“Am I late?”

“No I was early” Manuela’s answer.

Emer observed Manuela closely. Her eyesight was different today. She looked angry. Her face was redder than previous, her breath was heavier.

“What can I do for you?” Emer asked directly. He was not kind of lips service person. Richella didn’t seem comfortable met him before. The only reason she asked him to come was help. She needed help.

“I lose, I will leave tomorrow”

“Really? But I’ve vote four your designed” said Emer showed his app. He had chosen Richella’s designed in votting. It seemed useless. Most people love to choose Manuela’s designed. Simple, elegant and futuristic. Next level of art. 

“It was you, but other not.”

Emer put his phone to the table. He showed his sadness to appreciate his friend feeling. Feeling of lose is always harder.

“But, It’s not important anymore” said Richella’s.

She didn’t wanted to show her disappointed to Emer. She knew well, she would not win for the beginning. It was too obvious. Even the miracles was came, it will not forever. The truth is Manuela’s designed was being liked.

“I must leave tomorrow.  Manuela’s declare a new rule as a winner. All the loser must leave soon to avoid any hijacking. She wants to protect her masterpiece.”

Emer laughed.

“How could she be so naïve? She just a winner. What’s good about it?”

“She got a job. The directors trust him to work. She will lead the construction projects now. She will run her project, she has a right to do everything to save her masterpiece.

As the leader, she wants us to go soon. She was afraid, something bad happened to her. She won’t risk her life. What had happened to me was a great learn for her”

Emer was speechless. Why all the directors decided everything so soon? Did Linah’s not aware?

“Before I left, I need your help” said Manuela hesitantly.

Emer nodded. He seem so calm outside but inside, he thinking harder than usual.

“Tell me, do you want to extent your visa to stay? It’s not a big deal, I can help you”

Emer was wrong this time. Richella did not interested in living in such huge modern city. She was tired of living in uncertain condition. Metropolitan has promised many things, but none of them came true. Especially if you were poor.

“I need your help to visit construction area this midnight. I must visit it once before leave. Will you help me?”

But why? What did she wanted visited that place? That place was gloomy and dark.

“Restricted area. Even I’m a citizen, I have no authorize to visit”

“You‘ve tell me already. But I have my own plan”

Both of them left the café for preparation. Emer can’t believe in himself. What on earth had happened actually? What so special about the construction?

“What do you find?”

“Nothing Sir. The construction is running as it usual. Nothing strange about it” said Linah.

“Then why this women insist to visit the area?” asked Emer.

He could not understand What’s is Richella thinking about.

“Who is in charge for that building?”

Linah search the file as fast as she could.

“The same person as the first time the building built. Mr. Rowanson Abdullah. He was the leader. I’ve checked his background, he was brilliant and capable person. Nothing strange about him too”

Then I have no choice besides following Richella’s plan.

At Midnight, Emer pick up Richella with his car.

“We must be hurry, the time will come” said Richella.

Emer did not understand. He just followed the instruction. He parked his car in the nearest places.

 “I will go first. If they found me, please come”

Emer turn on his phone. His phone was connected to Richella’s phone on her bag. She wore wireless in one of her ear. She slowly came to the construction.

She must be crazy. What will she said, if she knew Emer is the owner of Metro city? Will she did those funny play?

Emer laugh secretly.

Five minutes past, an ambulance pass by. It was just like what Richella said before.

“The ambulance was changed every midnight. It was an exactly same car and number, but it was different”

Emer took a picture to the ambulance. He send to Linah for more investigating. When it reach the gate, the security asked the gate opened.

“The Ambulance in” said Emer.

“I’ve seen. I’ve sent picture of the ambulance which park in the yard. Please check it”

 Emer opened the chat massage from Richella, He download it.

“Yes, it was both exactly same number and type. There must be something wrong, none car are identify as the same legally. There must have something to hide if they copied the series number”

Emer cut Linah’s line. He wanted her check it. The fact that Richella told about the car was surprise him. It forced him to investigate the building and the hospital which was send it.

It dragged Emer to his deepest curiosity. What was actually Richella found near the building?

“Why don’t ask any other think? The construction is nothing” Emer said when he was in the café.

“I found something near the gate when I took my evening walk. I want to make sure what it is actually.”

“What was it? Something precious?”

Richella refused to say. She prefer to keep it until she proofed his feeling.

“Are you in or not?”

Emer silent for a while before he agreed. It was his first time being partner in crime for not serious crime actually. Helping her visit the area? It was not something big. He even ever did more than it.

“Before we act, tell me! If you were given the power to change a fate. What do you want to change?” asked Emer before they left the café for preparation.

“Do you want to change judge’s mind, so you’ll be the winner?”

Richella sighed. Emer’s statement did not make sense. 

“I’ll change nothing. I’m happy for what I have today. Even I lose, even I failed. It was the best decision that ever happened in my life. We never know what happened in the future. Grumble and change the fate, it was not solution”

“But it will bring you up”

Richella was laughing. “I better die than change other destiny. We are destined to fulfil another destiny. If we change other destiny, who will responsible for the worst thing.

I’m not a God. I insisted to choose my own destiny”
