There was a phone number in the paper. Leo said that it was his personal number. I hurriedly looked for my phone and dialed the number.
Ring Ring Ring
I’m scared both of my hands are shaking endlessly and that the phone will slip from my hand any moment. What if he answers the phone? What should I tell him?
I don’t know how I managed to put the number on the dial pad but it was ringing. It’s ringing for only four seconds but for me, it’s been too long. I ended the call. I’m not ready, I can’t make a rush move.
I got my phone again. Instead of calling, I texted the number.
Your daughter is alive.
I sent the message with my shaking hands. That’s all I can do for now. It depends on him if he will believe me or not. Tears started to flow out of my eyes. I can’t believe that this is happening to me. But if I didn’t do it, it would be so selfish of me. I lay down on the bed because my knees softened and I’m going to collapse soon. I stared at the chandelier in front of me for a long time. My mind was blank.
Knock Knock knock
“Sister, are you there?”
“Wait a minute.” I wiped my tears and went to the bathroom to wash my face. I can’t be seen like this or else she will worry about me.
I opened the door and made a yawning gesture “I overslept”, I told her as I made my voice a little husky.
“I cooked my favorite foods. Let’s have breakfast together”. She held my hands and walked down the stairs. I’m the eldest but she’s treating me like the youngest one now.
The table is filled with her favorite foods. There’s no single sight of my favorite.
“It’s unfair. Why are these foods all your favorite?” I started to peel the lobster’s skin and put it in my mouth after peeling.
My curiosity started to get in my head when Diena started to pour champagne into my glass. She’s smiling silly.
“Are you in love?” she’s acting weird and my curiosity is killing me. What’s with her? Only in love people will smile as she does.
“Hell no.” she shook her head fast and rolled her eyes at me. “Can’t you guess?”
“No”
“It’s a celebration because…” she purposely paused for the next word.
“because” my brows are both in raised form and I can feel my forehead making a straight line. She’s trying to be mysterious, but before I could ask again, she made a quick toast gesture and drank her champagne in one gulp.
“Last night I received an email from Ford Empire. I was hired by them.” Her face shows excitement and happiness. My heart softened for her, I’m really happy for her.
