Chapter Twenty-five

1508 Words

Chapter Twenty-five Mickey would not have thought it possible, to scream underwater. But she did, and lost a lungful of air because of it. Cindy was partially hidden among the pipes, hovering with arms floating, raised, as if reaching out for the living. The circling barracuda had almost chewed her into two halves. Mickey bicycled her fins, backing away from the apparition. Then wheeling, she dolphin-kicked toward the apron of the staging, her lungs desperately seeking air. But instead of sunlight the water darkened and for one terrifying moment she thought she had become disorientated; was going the wrong way. A steel wall materialized, solidifying in the shadowy darkness and blocking her escape. Once again Mickey found herself fighting down the panic. She was trapped. Had to go back.
