Chapter Sixteen Rosa, the company cook, tsked lightly under her breath when she saw Jill, still blue and shivering, half pulled and half carried into her cafeteria. “No– no,”she cried when the women tried to deposit Jill onto a mattress alongside the wall. “She’ll be better in here.”And Rosa ushered them into her own sleeping compartment. Once she saw Jill comfortably settled under the bed covers, Rosa busied herself behind the stove. A stock pot was filled with water and set to boil and she opened a restaurant-sized can which held a whole chicken. Amy, with her medical bag in hand, pushed everyone out of the compartment, sat on the bedside and lifted Jill’s wrist.
