Isabella sat in the room she had been placed by Diego's men, waiting for him to call on her. He had asked her the other time to become his pet just to free her father and she knew she was walking into the pit of fire, but at the same time, she wasn't hesitant to agree to go in.
Her father might be the worst, but he was the only family she had left and he wasn't like this to her when she was younger. As much as she could remember from her childhood, he was much sweeter and responsible before it all went south. She just had to endure whatever it was for a whole year and it would all be over before she knew it.
The sound of her door clicking open made her look up and there, a lady in a maid's outfit was standing there, her head bowed. “Don requested your presence in the dining hall.” She muttered, moving to a side to let her through.
Isabella walked down the hall, her nerves hitting her as she wondered what kind of mood she was going to meet him in. Judging from the last time she met him, which was a day ago, he wasn't predictable at all and his mood shifted easily. She didn't know if it was normal, or it was just her.
As she stood in the room, she saw papers flying in the air and a man on his knees, while Diego was comfortably seated, watching as the man was being stomped on by one of his men . It was such a cruel sight and from the way he sat and didn't even look up from his dish, she could tell he had done this a lot more than anyone can imagine.
Covering her mouth to prevent herself from gorging at the cruel sight she had walked into, he didn't even look a bit fazed by the cruelty. Without saying a word, she sat on his right where her dish was already served and looking over the table, there was a lot of food they wouldn't possibly eat up. She couldn't remember the last time she had a decent meal or one which had this delicious aroma but she didn't have the appetite at all.
“Take him out,” Diego said to his man. “You know what to do.”
“Yes don.”
The entire room was silent and the only sound present was the distant conversations of those in the house. Isabella just sat there, staring at her food while he completed his.
“Is the food not to your liking?” He asked her, placing his cutleries down while looking over to her with a slight smile on his face.
“I suddenly do not feel hungry at all.” She mumbled, tossing and turning the peas in her place back and forth on the plate.
“If it's because of what you just witnessed, you should get used to it. If you'll be staying here, you'll witness a lot worse than that so you'll only punish yourself and no one else by then.”
That man! He was just as cruel and heartless as ever. He was unbelievable and she wouldn't expect anything less anyway for his dark rumors spreading across the lands. He was one of the best Don whose territory was the safest of all but in order to keep this peace and safety, the entire territory was basked in the blood of his enemies. He showed no mercy to no one, even his own family.
“You called me over so I guess there's something more to talk about?” She said, dropping her cutleries to look up at him. “I want to return to my room.”
Diego waved his hands slightly and the butler and maids in the room suddenly walked out of the room, leaving the two in the room filled with his foul and dark aura. She couldn't think of what he was about to do to her but she stopped the thought immediately he turned her chair out of the table to face him.
He was squatting before her, looking up at her with a sweet smile on his face which she found really creepy. “Tell me, Isa, why are you the only one who talks to me the way you do?” he tilted his head to the side, taking her fingers towards his lips. “Answer me, Isa?”
“I-I don't know what you're talking about.” She stuttered, looking away from him as his tongue flicked between her fingers. She found it uncomfortable but she was the one who agreed to become his pet for a year in order to get rid of her father's debt. It made her wonder how much that man owed him to make Diego demand that much. But considering how much of a big shot Diego was, it wouldn't be anything less than hundreds of millions.
Without a warning, she was tugged forward, falling straight into his arms and before she could react, his lips were pressed against hers in a warm kiss and for a second, she was stunned. What was going on? He really did just kiss her?
Without a second thought, she pushed him aside with all her strength but he didn't budge. His hand gripped the back of her head tightly and her struggles were futile and the only thing she thought of doing was biting his lips and he let go of her then.
Blood was running down his lips as he pulled away and she could feel the ironic taste of blood in her mouth. “aahh I might have overdone it.” she thought, peeking up at his expression. He was a freaking Mafia boss and she had just bit his lips and it might anger him.
“Aren't you forgetting something, Isa?” he tilted his head again but this time with a gentle smile. “You agreed to be my pet. Shouldn't a little kitten who bites her owner be punished?”
“W-what?” she stuttered, expecting a totally different expression or for it to immediately change but nothing.
Without a warning, she was lifted from the ground and the plates on the table fell on the ground, crashing loudly, making her startled but he didn't give her a chance to look around as he grabbed her face, kissing her again. This time, it was gentle, soft and everything about the kiss made her mind fuzzy. She couldn't think of anything but the kiss intruding her senses.
Why am I feeling this way? She wondered, staring at his closed eyes. His hair falling between them was so pretty and she just wanted to play with the strands of hair. “I can't breathe…” her thoughts trailed off as he pulled away like he could hear her.
“There there pet. Trust me, your punishment won't be this light next time you bite me.” He said gently, ruffling her hair as he stepped away from her. “I'll have the butler bring you something decent to eat since breakfast’s all over the place.”
Well literally. The food was spilled all over the floor already and he totally did that on purpose. Sitting there on the table, she watched his back as he walked out of the room unbothered. She didn't expect him to be bothered at all, but the fact that he just let it slip by giving her a kiss was something much more surprising for her.
What exactly was going on in his head? She really wanted to know so damn badly.
