Part Two: Niamh

Micah's POV "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Everyone shouted, waking me up. I couldn't say I wasn't surprised now, can I? Ha! But the thing is bed is my happy place and I'd take every chance I get to sleep. Also I kinda know they'll do this because this is what we exactly do to every teen wolves who turned 16 before - the classic birthday morning surprise bed attack! I named it as a matter of fact! I stirred up to sit, rubbing my eyes. I feel someone sitting beside me. I looked up to see Marcus, my brother, grinning widely at me. "Happy birthday, princess," he said happily, pulling me in a hug "Thanks, Marcus," I pulled away to give him a quick peck on his cheek. "Come on, now," Nathan started, smiling at me. "Are you feeling the pull? Are we mates or what?" We heard a low growl. We all looked up to see Calix standing by the doorway, looking angrily at Nathan. "Or not," Nathan shrugged. I'm a year older than him, and it wasn't a secret that he fancies me and wanted to be my mate - but everyone knows Calix disagrees. "Don't rush the birthday girl," Lily giggled. "She'll find out once sh---" Before she can even finish, I already felt what she was about to say. There was a stabbing pain inside of me as I heard some of my bones cracking. "---e shifts," she continued. She said the last part slowly as her eyes widen. "She's shifting!" Marcus jumped from the bed, excited and worried at the same time. "Better now than never," I heard Calix saying happily, approaching me. I felt his arms snaked around me, lifting me. "Calix," I whimpered. "It's---" "It'll be alright, babe," he cooed, carrying me downstairs. "Deep breathes now, my love." Though the pain is excruciating, I felt at ease as he carries me. I inhaled, trying to calm myself, only to be meet with a crazy feeling. His scent - he smells like books and hot cocoa. It's making my head nuts. "Calix," I repeated, looking up at him, as he places me to the ground. We were outside the pack house now, with Marcus and the rest following behind. "Your scent. It's-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence as I screamed in pain. "I know, I've been waiting for you," he smiled, placing a kiss on my forehead. "I'll be right here." He stood up, walking backwards to stand beside everyone as they watched me shift. My bones continued to c***k while I feel my insides shifting to make way for my wolf. I don't know how long I laid there but a few minutes later the pain stopped. "Happy birthday" a voice inside me said. It was calming, a voice I've been waiting to hear. "Thank you. What's your name?" I asked. "Niamh," she said happily. "My name is Niamh, little one. It's nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too," I smiled. I opened my eyes - or rather Niamh did, as I see everything like a movie. I am in wolf form, so this has to be hers. Our vision was much clearer. We looked down to our paws, giving me a view for the first time what my fur was like - it was white as snow. "Niamh," I started, excited. "You're so beautiful." "Thank you, little one," I can feel her happiness upon my comment. We can hear the running water from a mile away where the river flows that I swear I couldn't hear before. And our sense of smell; everything is distinct. Every sense were twice as before - or maybe even triple! "Micah, do you smell that?" She asked excitedly. We sniffed the air, inhaling an intoxicating scent, making our head dizzy with excitement. I know I've smelled this scent awhile ago. "Mate! Mate is here!" We smiled as a black fur wolf stood in front of us, locking eyes with us as if he was waiting to be accepted. I nodded slightly at him before he walked slowly towards us. We moved closer to him, inhaling his scent, closing the distance between us. He nodded at me, signaling us to follow him. Before leaving to follow him, Marcus came up to us, handing a bag. It has a long strap. We bowed our head down for him to easily cling it over our neck. We looked back at him, silently thanking him. He grinned; "You're so beautiful. I'm proud of you." I moved closer to him, letting him pat me. "Go," he continued, smiling. "Have your first run." With one last look, I nodded at him before turning around to follow our mate. He was waiting by the forest line. The moment I reached him, he started to lead the way. I didn't know that it was possible to be this happy. Like I'm the happiest girl alive. I'm happier than the last time I remembered I was the happiest, if that makes any sense. I felt the cold breeze as it brushes my fur and the smell of the forest was intoxicating, making me feel safe and sound. Every now and then he would slow down his pace and run beside me, making playful gestures. We let our wolves play along before deciding to shift back into our human form. He nodded for me to go behind a tree, given that we would be completely naked once we shift back. Shifting back to human was easier than shifting to a wolf. "I took the pain from you since we're in wolf form," Niamh giggled, obviously reading my thought. "Why, thanks, Niamh," I smiled, as I started to get dressed. Mom must have packed this and told Marcus to hand me the bag. It has two cycling shorts and two shirts packed inside, alongside my underwear and, what I believe, to be my mate's. I came out from behind the tree, walking towards him. He was still in his wolf form, looking at me. "Can I?" I asked, raising my hand to touch his fur. He moved closer to me. He bowed down and placed his head gently to my palm. I smiled, ruffling his fur gently, as I handed him the bag with my other hand. He bit it between his teeth. "Go." He shifted faster than I did and within a couple of minutes he came out from behind a tree already dressed. He was walking towards me, grinning, locking eyes with me. His eyes were full of love and happiness. "Mine," he said in a low voice, but it was quite enough for me to hear it. He ran to me, embracing me, sending some frenzy feeling into me. I've always felt that spark feeling since then, but this time it felt like fireworks. No, it felt like nuclear bomb crazy. "You don't know how long I've been wanting to say that!" I giggled, pulling away from him. "I think I do know. That's why we're best friend's afterall, aren't we?" "Right," he laughed. He pulled me back in a hug, tighter this time as if he never wants to let me go. "I'm so happy, Micah." "My wish did came true," I smiled, hugging him back. "My dream came true," he chuckled, nuzzling his nose on my neck. "Now this is the part where I tell you I told you so." "Want another punch, Blackfur?" I said sarcastically, yet laughing, remembering that punch I gave him when we were little right after Marcus told me Calix dreamt of me being his luna. "No, thank you," he laughed, pulling away. He looked me in the eyes, with his hand holding unto my chin and the other was gently placed on my back. "But I want something else." My heart started beating faster. He looked down to my lips before looking back into my eyes. "May I?" He asked. I nodded slightly before he leaned closer, crashing his lips unto mine. He started moving his lips and, soon enough, it turned into a passionate one with our lips moving in sync. "I love you, Micah," he said in between our kiss. I moaned, as he bit my lower lips, asking for entrance. My hand travelled from his neck to his hair. He was pushing me closer to him with the hand he had placed on my back, while his other hand was now on the side of my neck as if he was guiding me. We stayed like that for a few more minutes until he pulled away. His expression changed, looking around. He held unto me protectively. "Something's not right," he started. "Someone's here." "What's going on?" I asked, looking at him, confused. Something smells incredibly delicious. And, no, it couldn't be Calix. The scent was different from him; it's the scents of coffee and chocolate cake. It's making my head dizzy and excited. "Niamh," I called unto my wolf, mindlinking her. "Do you smell that? It isn't Calix. But how? Why?" I can hear her purring but didn't respond to my questions. "Show yourself!" Calix said in an alpha tone. On my right, something caught my eye - a figure hiding behind a tree. The moment I turned to look directly at it, it ran away. Maybe it was my imagination. Maybe the scent was also my imagination. I don't know. For all we know, it could be a rogue. If there are a few rogues out here, we'd be in trouble. Rogues are werewolves that were cast out or broke ties with their previous packs. The longer they stay without a pack, the wilder they become. With Calix being the future alpha of our pack, there is without a doubt that they might be after him. "Calix," I whisper shouted at him. He followed my gaze. His claws are starting to form on his hand. "It's one of us," he said. There was s confusion on his voice. "It's - not from our pack. I would have known. But, the scent - it smells familiar." "Calix," I repeated. "I'm scared. What if it's a rogue?" I reached for his arm, holding unto it. He looked back at me, holding my hand. Using his alpha tone, he ordered me and said; "Micah, shift, now."
