Even if it meant confronting the most dangerous people in the city. I took a deep breath and pulled my chair where I was tied towards Selena.
"I won't let you get away with this," I said firmly. "I'll find out the truth and make sure you and your accomplices pay for what you did to Ava."
Selena's expression hardened. "You're making a big mistake crossing us. You have no idea what we're capable of."
"I have an idea," I replied with a hint of steel in my voice. "And I won't back down until justice is served."
My words had barely left my lips when she delivered a hard slap across my face. Pain exploded through my cheek, and I stumbled back, my hand instinctively reaching for the stinging sensation. But my hands didn't come 'cause they were tied.
