As I walked into Ava's office, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The members of the League of Justice had been so friendly and welcoming, but there was an air of secrecy that made me uneasy.
"So, Felicity, what do you think of our headquarters?" Ava asked me with a smile.
"It's amazing, beyond anything I could have ever imagined," I replied. "But why the need for secrecy? Why can't you be more transparent?"
Ava's face fell. "We have enemies, Felicity. We can't just trust anyone with our secrets."
"But I thought we were here to protect the innocent. How does keeping secrets help us achieve that?" I asked, feeling a knot form in my stomach.
