Chapter Six

The wind by the river carried the distinctive call of the Wolf Clan, the north wind whistled and the leaves of the trees roared fiercely, as if they were telling an ancient legend. John followed Maria back to the territory. He picked up a bag with herbs from the passenger seat and handed it to Maria, this was the healing medicine that Jacob, instructed him to prepare for Maria.

Maria took the bag and opened it to see that it was herbs for healing. A warm current welled up in her heart, even though it was just a bag of worthless herbs, in her moment of isolation, this care was as warm as the warmth of the wolves in the pack, it touched her.

"Thank Jacob for me." There was a tremor in Maria's voice as she touched her face, which still bore the marks of the battle.

John nodded, his eyes revealing a hint of hesitation as if he had something to say.

"Ms. Maria, there is something ......" John's voice was low, with the characteristic seriousness of the wolf clan.

Maria gestured for him to be straightforward, and only then did John speak up, telling her that Grace of the Long Sheng Group, a wolf woman of great stature, had a heart for Jacob that shouldn't be there. Jacob had rejected it outright, but she didn't seem to have given up.

A flash of surprise flashed through Maria's mind, but she quickly gathered her emotions, knowing that as a member of the wolf clan, she had to show the tenacity and wisdom of a wolf. She decided to help Jacob and solve this potential threat.

John smiled slightly as he propped up his glasses and said with the wolf's characteristic humor, "Actually, tonight I thought that you were going to use the saving of your life to ask Jacob to marry you."

Maria froze for a moment, then realized what John meant. If she married Jacob, she would become a noble among the wolves, with higher status and power. But Maria knew that there was no way Jacob would marry her, she was the woman who almost became his nephew-in-law, and such a union was not allowed in the wolf clan.

She shook her head, her mind made up. She would not use the gift of saving her life to ask for anything, she would use her own strength to get everything she wanted.

Maria returned to her territory, which was empty and silent. She opened the door and a cold wind greeted her, she could smell the scent of wolves mixed in the wind, this was her pack, her home.

She walked into her study and pulled a heavy black journal out of a drawer, a journal that chronicled every bit of her relationship with Daniel, every argument and resentment, all of which she had recorded in detail.

Maria flipped through the diary and looked at the entries, her heart filled with mixed emotions. She remembered that time when the wedding photos were taken, Daniel had left her behind because of a phone call from Louisa. She remembered the anger and disappointment that filled her heart that day.

Maria took a deep breath, knowing that she needed to make a decision. She picked up a pen and wrote the words "break off engagement" heavily on the page of the diary, then tore out the page and threw it in the trash.

She decided to let go of the past and start a new life. She tore all the entries in the journal about Daniel to shreds, just as she had done with the past.

Maria stood up and she decided to clean up all traces of Daniel. She grabbed a mop and began to clean up, she was going to clean up this territory for her new life.

Just then, Mia, Maria's best friend and a member of the wolf pack, opened the door and walked in. Tears instantly flowed down her face as she saw Maria's appearance.

"Baby, quickly let your sister hug you." There was a tremor in Mia's voice as she quickly walked towards Maria and hugged her tightly in her arms.

Although Maria didn't cry, her heart was filled with emotion. She knew that no matter what difficulties she encountered, her wolf clan, her friends, would be by her side.

John returned to the WolfClan's clubhouse, and he sent Jacob a message telling him that he had returned. Jacob put down the card game he was holding, he asked John, "Did you get her the medicine?"

"Bought it, Ms. Jane told you thank you." John replied.

Jacob leaned back in the backseat, his mind a little weary. He knew that Maria was a strong woman who would not easily bow to fate.

John carefully asked, "President, you really ...... want to marry Ms. Maria?"

Jacob did not answer, his mind had its own plans. He knew that Maria was an honorable woman who was qualified to be a noble among the wolves.

At that moment, Daniel called, a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice, "Uncle Junior, is Maria the one who complained to you?"

Jacob replied calmly, "Daniel, don't be so hypocritical, why did you promise not to withdraw from the marriage? Don't you have any idea? Maria only said she wanted to break off the engagement with you, not a word about anyone else."

Daniel was silent, he knew his choices. He chose power, he chose shares and gave up love.

Jacob said coldly, "Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, don't be late or suffer the consequences."

Maria stood in front of the window, looking out at the moonlight, her heart filled with determination. She knew that she was going to have a new beginning in her life, she was going to find her place in the wolf pack, and she was going to use her strength to fight for everything she wanted.
