Devenity: Unknown World

Chapter 2

The ceiling looks familiar, those designs, the way the bulb looks, this is Xayvion's room, isn't it? Have I been here all this time? He must have been so hopeful I would wake up soon, he wanted to be beside me when it happened. I'm back, back to reality, my body feels so...my body? I completely lost all feeling while in that void I completely forgot I had limbs.

I still feel half-dead, it seems my body is used to being doormat, I need to get out of here, I need to see if I can still walk, please God can I still move? My brain just needs to give the command, that's it, move your pinky finger first. It was like I was self rehabilitating myself, and it worked, soon enough I wasn't only moving my pinky but my whole hand as well.

My body was so weak, no doubt because I haven't had something to eat, s**t, it's like angry dogs are barking in my stomach, can Charlotte make me some food, where is she anyway? Supporting myself on my elbows, I managed to sit upright, I was immediately hit with a force of dizziness.

As I was trying to steady my vision when I heard footsteps coming from the hall, they seemed pretty far away but I still managed to hear them, strange. After a couple of minutes, the person entered the room, it was Charlotte, her face looked paler than usual and she also looked a little smaller.

We stared at each other for a while before she screamed at the top of her lungs;

"XAYVION!!!!!"

I jolted upright, she rushed towards me and wrapped me in a tight hug, I could feel her body shake

"Dev, is it really you? Are you really awake?"

"Y-yeah"

My voice was faint, my throat really hurt

"XAYVION!!!"

She yelled in my ears causing them to ring

"Hey...take it...easy"

"I'm sorry"

Numerous footsteps ran down the hall, Xenia and Jinx Xayvion rushed into the room, they all had their eyes wide open once they looked at me. It felt weird having them look at me like that, how long was I really out?

"Hey"

Charlotte immediately moved away and in replacement, Xayvion's large frame towered over me. Everyone had changed drastically, they all seemed to have gotten pale and thin, but Xayvion changed the most, he didn't even look healthy anymore, he was unshaven and had dark circles under his eyes.

"Xayvion...what happ-"

He descended on me in a fierce hug, resting his head on my shoulder, I could hear him on the brink of tears and feel his heartbeat fast.

"Devenity...Dev, you're...you're awake, you came back"

Instinctively I wrapped my arms around him and soaked in all his warmth, it wasn't much, he had really let himself go

"I'm back"

Quite some time had passed and it was basically filled with everyone asking if I'm really awake and how I feel, when everything properly settled down I drank a glass of water and my throat was clear enough to ask all the burning questions in my head

"Okay, so we've all established that I'm awake and I'm so glad to be but...what the hell happened to you guys? You all look sick...how long have I been asleep?"

Xayvion was seated next to me on a chair, Xenia stood by the window Jinx and Charlotte were on the other side of the bed. They all looked down as they explained what happened.

"Can you remember how you got into this position in the first place?", Xayvion asked

"Yeah...I remember being shot with an arrow, I also remember two girls, but that's it, unfortunately"

"That arrow did a number on you Dev"

Jinx spoke up

"What did it do?"

"You've been out for 2 years"

I opened my eyes wide at her response, I was really out, in that void for 2 whole years, it can't be true

"No, wait...wait, that can't be true, ho-how could I be out for two whole years?"

"It is true, since the time that arrow pierced your heart you went into a certain type of comma, 2 years later, you're here, that's part of the reason everyone has changed", Xayvion added

"s**t, what was in that arrow, and who aimed it?"

"We can't answer any of those questions unfortunately, Mabaya has been working day and night since that attack trying figure out what the arrow was covered with but it's been zero progress since", Xenia spoke

"And as for who aimed it, we searched the entire woods but came up blank every time, it was like the person disappeared into thin air immediately after they shot the arrow", Charlotte continued

"Hmm"

I never could have imagined I would be a target for anything, sure, I'm a somewhat unidentified creature but why would anyone be out to get me considering even I don't know what I am and the powers I wield

"Let's not talk about things like this right now, you just woke up"

Xayvion gently took my hand in his

"I've been gone for so long, honestly, this is the only thing I want to think about"

"True but-"

"And what about the new bloods attacks, have they stopped or continued since my attack?"

"They raged on with a vengeance, every week there's a brand new bunch of them terrorizing the community", Xenia spat

"And like your attacker, we can't seem to find out where they keep coming from"

"The world is in shambles, why is everything suddenly falling apart?"

"Well, you're awake, that means our world is slowly coming back together", Xenia smiled, I missed that smile so much

Looking around the room I started to feel emotional, they were all waiting for me, for 2 years, never giving up hope and always coming to check on me, I made them worry so much. Right here and now I make the promise that my weakness will no longer make anyone else suffer, even if I was the one who got shot everyone else was greatly affected, their appearance shows it

"I know I shouldn't be speaking too early because you never know what the future holds but...I just want you guys to know that this will be the last time you worry about me because of how weak I am, I don't want you guys to miss out on more years of your life worrying about me"

"Dev, I'm your mate, it doesn't matter if you want me to worry about you or not, I will always worry because you're a part of me and I love you"

"As for the rest of us, you became one of us the minute you entered this pack territory, we will worry about you no matter what"

I anticipated they would give such responses, that's why I love them so much

"By the way, those two girls..."

"You mean the ones who come here every day claiming you're their older sister?"

"Huh? Oh, I must have forgotten that detail"

"Yeah well. they're starting to get on my nerves, they come here every day claiming s**t and accusing me of kidnapping", Xayvion grunted

"What exactly do they want?"

"They want their sister to come home"

"And where is home?"

"They won't say, they've been fighting us ever since, basically blaming us for the reason you got hurt"

"Hmm, I guess I'll have to talk to them to find out...but first"

"What's on your mind"

"I'm dying to take a shower"

"Say no more"

Charlotte and Jinx headed towards the door, Xenia pulled Xayvion by his arm off the chair

"Come on"

"But I don't have to leave", he protested

"You never saw her shower before it's not going to change now, give her some space"

Despite protesting heavily he still left the room with everyone else, I couldn't help but laugh at how they haven't changed at all personality-wise.

I just remembered I had never been in Xayvion's bathroom before, it had the same colors as his bedroom, black and gray. There wasn't much in it, just a shower, a toilet, a sink, and drawers, I stood by the sink and looked into the mirror hang up, I looked so unrecognizable it was terrifying.

My hair looked like it hadn't touched water or shampoo in a while, which it probably didn't, I had huge dark circles and my cheekbones were visible. I don't know what happened to me both here and in the void of darkness but it really sucked the life out of me.

As I was taking off my dress to finally shower, I noticed more changes about my body, my feet looked seemingly bigger and my bones felt stretched and heavy, it felt as though I was borrowing someone else's body. Completely nude underneath the shower, I shivered in delight as the hot water washed over me, it cleansed off every itch, discomfort, and negative feeling all at once.

Scrubbing through my entire body with soap, I stopped at the scar right in between my boobs, it was long, a cruel reminder that my life would never be normal, ever. Finishing up I grabbed an available towel and wrapped it around my body, once I again, I looked in the mirror and was glad at least a bit of life returned.

Returning to Xayvion's room after a much-needed bath, I noticed again that I wasn't my usual self. I didn't notice it before when I got out of bed but now, looking around the room, everything seemed a little bit lower than usual, inanimate objects don't get smaller which means I suddenly got bigger through those past 2 years.

I wasn't sure how to feel about the recent developments my body went through, it felt like the old Devenity drifted away when I opened my eyes, or maybe...just maybe, this was me all along. My first few hours awake and I was already exhausting myself thinking about irrelevant things, people do grow, it's a part of life, but at my stage could I really grow taller than my original height? The last time I checked I was 5'5.

And height isn't the only thing that has changed much about me, my age as well, I am 25-years-old now, crap, I was growing and I couldn't even experience it properly. I took a seat on Xayvion's bed, the recent developments hit me hard, especially my age, at some point in life I thought that by this age I would be a bank manager, married to Damon, raising at least 3 kids, the universe, or rather, the moon has a funny way of changing your destiny.

Speaking of Damon, he must have changed so much too, he's probably married to Zoe and with kids. And Maddie, oh my sweet best friend, are you still looking for me, or did you give up? If you are still looking for me I promise you I'll visit when I get the chance, now I don't need to hide anymore so I'll be fine, but if you aren't looking for me anymore I'll leave you alone to live your life, if you can.

2 years, 2 whole years of my life spent in agonizing darkness and silence, someone out there is trying to make sure I'll never be happy, someone out there is trying to silence me but I won't give in. Now more than ever I need to build up my strength because I have a feeling...my biggest battle has just begun.
