Lauren didn’t think much of it at first.
The buzz online was expected—Larry was making his return to hockey after years away, and people had opinions. Excitement, skepticism, straight-up disbelief—it was all there.
She felt everything.
She scrolled through the first wave of reactions on her phone while sitting at the kitchen counter, sipping coffee. Most were supportive. Some were worried. A few, of course, were just there to be assholes but that was expected.
“Hope he doesn’t break in half the first game.”
“Larry Calloway coming back? This season just got interesting.”
“Washed-up players really can’t stay retired, huh?”
Lauren rolled her eyes and locked her phone. Whatever. People talked—it was what they did.
