The next day I stayed in my room the whole time. The evening came with a heavy, oppressive silence. I stayed curled under the blankets, the weight of the yesterday pressing down on me. The memory of Diago’s face, filled with confusion and betrayal, haunted me. It had been hours, but the pain of what I’d done hadn’t lessened. If anything, it felt sharper, like a knife slowly twisting in my chest. I thought of his words, the emotion in his eyes. A knock on the door broke through my thoughts. I stayed silent, hoping whoever it was would just go away. But the knock came again, this time followed by Amy’s soft voice. “Sasha, it’s time for dinner. Matilda and I thought we’d come and get you,” she called gently from the other side. “You’ve barely eaten today. Please, come down.” I stayed still
