“...and the winner is,” everyone was waiting. Some cheered Bridgette’s name, while others cheered mine. I closed my hands into fist. Bridgette’s was looking at me with pity as if she already know who will be the winner. She expected it to be her. She was expecting her name to be called when the emcee announced, “Anna Luther!” my name.
My friends cheered with success. I closed my eyes and looked at her. The pity on her face was replaced with anger. Her usual smirk turned into a frown. I tried to come to her and congratulate her since she is still the top 2 but she walked away.
After receiving the awards, I walked straight to my friends who are waiting for me.
“Omygosh!” Sasha exclaimed, looking so proud.
“See? I told you, you can do it.” Lia said. I hugged the both of them and the three of us cried. We didn’t care if everyone can see us, but I’m just so happy. Imagine, all sleepless nights reviewing was worth it. I’m sure mom and dad will be proud.
“This calls for a celebration!” Sasha took us to the near cafe and ordered something.
“Did you see the look on b***h-gette’s face? It was so hilarious!” I couldn’t help but laugh at how Sasha read Bridgette’s name.
“I really expected Anna to win the quiz bee. She’s the smartest here, remember?” Lia pointed out. I bit my lip to stop my tears from falling. These girls are making me cry.
“And I’m the second!” Sasha proudly said.
“Yeah, if having fail grade means being smart, you’re really smart.”
Oh, here we are again.
“What? Duh! Professor Steam failed me because I punched her daughter’s face! That’s not counted!”
“Right, you’re the walking trouble, I forgot.”
I coulnd’t help but to watch them. Stopping them will not work. They are just like Tom and Jerry, they always fight. Sasha Middel is the type of girl who would punch someone if you hurt her or anyone close to her, in short, she’s the bravest and cool girl I have ever met. While Lia Fernan is the quiet type of girl, but trust me, whenever she’s with us, her true color always shows, she was the most calm and rational girl I’ve ever met.
They were the one who completes my high school life and the ones who will stand up beside me whenever Bridgette bullies me.
Speaking of Bridgette, I’m sure right now, she is planning something to ruin my day tomorrow. I’m already used to it, though. Bullies and everything.
After almost five minutes of waiting, a guy holding a tray and a cake arrived. Lia took the cake and light the candles.
“Congratulations.” They both said in unison.
The tears that I’ve been holding for so long finally came out. I couldn’t help but to cry. I’m so happy to have them in my life. If it weren’t for them, my life would be so lonely. I did not expected this. These girls are really full of surprises.
After blowing the candle, we continued the celebration.
“Ugh! I want to drink.” We both look at Sasha when she said that. Their parents prohibited us from drinking alcohols.
“Don’t give me that look. I know we’re still minors. But this celebration is not complete without the taste of alcohol.” She said while taking the alcohols in a can out of her bag.
I looked at her, wide eyes, “Omygod Sasha! Where did you get that?” I asked.
Lia was shocked too and speechless. “Your parents will get mad!” I whispered.
“They won’t know.” She seems calm.
“Just one can is fine.” She said after drinking.
“She’s right.” Lia supported her. Oh god! I changed my mind, Lia can be irrational too.
She then handed me the other can. I looked at Lia who is already drinking. What the hell?
Ugh---these girls!
I thought Sasha only have three cans in her bag. But right now, five cans is now displayed in our table, empty. Sasha looked a bit drunk while Lia is just fine. I only drank one can of alcohol, since it is still my first time drinking and I’m not really used to it.
Omygod! We’re doomed.
I’m sure Sasha and Lia’s parents will get mad.
“We should really go home.” I told them for the nth time, and no one, ever listened to me.
“It’s already past 9 pm.”
Lia seems to notice the time. She got up and took Sasha’s bag and left. What the hell? Is she leaving me with this drunk girl? How am I supposed to carry her?
In the end, I carried Sasha until we reached the taxi. Lia was already in there. I carefully placed Sasha beside Lia. I ended up sitting beside the driver since I’m the most sober one.
After a few minutes, we reached Sasha’s home. Sasha’s house is bigger the our house since her parents are both entrepreneurs. After getting out of the car, we went to the side of their house. We couldn’t enter into the frontdoor since her parents are really going to be mad if they finds out. And we don’t want that to happen.
We did what we used to do.
Put the ladder on Sasha’s balcony and climbed on it.
The only problem is Sasha. That girl is really the epitome of trouble.
How can she drink when she didn’t know her alcohol tolerance?
“Come on, Sash! Hold my hand!” I whispered. It was her time to climb. Lia, on the other hand, was supporting Sasha on the ground.
Good thing that Sasha is a bit flexible. In our sqaud, I was the one who prefer to read books and to stay inside the library, while Sasha is a gymnastic. While Lia, well, the girl can be hard to read, sometimes she hangs out with me in the library, and sometimes she’s with Sasha in the gym.
When the three of us are already in Sasha’s room, we immediately lie down on her bed. This day is a tiring day.
Ugh! With Sasha and Lia’s condition, I hope we can go to class on time. And that is, if we wake up early.
