Way Back Into Love

Chapter 7

"Ah," Estelle hissed in pain as her hair was pulled by Calyx's mother.

"Madam please let go," the maid accompanying her tried to help Estelle to escape from her grip. "NO! THIS B*TCH HAD THE AUDACITY TO SHOW HER FACE AFTER KILLING MY SON!!!" she shouted, attracting people who were just passing by.

"What?"

"She killed Madam Garcia's only son?"

Estelle tried her best to not listen to the people's comments and focus on how to get herself away from Madam Garcia's hands. "Madam, please let the poor girl go," the maid pleaded and was about to kneel down when Estelle shouted, "MADAM!"

Alice, the only Madam of the Garcia family and the mother of Calyx Garcia had a good reputation for being a good person in their neighbourhood but because of this event, some might change their perspective towards the woman.

"Madam...I did not kill your son!" Estelle pleaded and tears were starting to stream out of her eyes, not because of the humiliation she's currently facing but because of the pain Alice gave her. "You! You killed my son, you seduced my good son and sent him to his death after you got tired of him!" she screamed in front of Estelle's face.

In return, Estelle did her best in defending herself, "I did not seduce your son, I loved him not because of your family's wealth but because of his personality!" the girl said as she gripped Alice's hand tightly hoping that she would eventually release her hair. "LIES! You're just a gold-digger and after knowing that my son was fired in his job...you plotted his death!"

'Calyx was fired?' Estelle was shocked by this revelation. She never thought that Calyx would be fired since she knew that her boyfriend is a good worker. "T-That can't be..." she managed to speak and when Alice heard it, she thought that Estelle was shocked that she wasn't going to receive money from Calyx anymore that night but the truth was that Estelle was indeed shocked when this made their way into her ears because she thought that Calyx was doing fine at that time and with his job being stable. Alice smirked and then announced to the people who were surrounding them, "see? This b*tch here was too shocked upon knowing that my son was fired from his job and was not going to give money to her that night!"

'Does that mean that when we were talking on the phone...he was already fired?'

'Then is that why he sounded down when he called me?'

"I-I only knew this today that Calyx was fired from his job that night and if what you said was true...that I was after his money then I wouldn't have killed him that time," Estelle tried her best to be brave, to prove her innocence to the people. Thoughts were now slowly occupying Estelle's head that she hadn't even heard the people mumbling about them.

"But doesn't that prove the girl's innocence?"

"Yeah, that kinda proves that she wasn't after Madam Garcia's son's money and killed him,"

The people were now taking Estelle's side when they heard this and when Alice heard this she was stunned that the people were now taking Estelle's side and not hers, "why are you taking this b*tch's side? You can clearly tell that she's here to ask money from me," she said, throwing garbage into Estelle's name and reputation but people were not moved by Alice's words. "I was here not for money but for the location where Calyx is buried," she said while hissing due to the tight grip Alice had on her hair. Estelle who eventually got tired saw something shining in Alice's purse and when she put her focus into it, she saw that it was a knife!

Without hesitation, Estelle grabbed the knife from Alice's purse and placed it on her hair, "OH MY GOD! SHE'S TRYING TO KILL ME!" shouted Alice but still had a tight grip on Estelle's hair.

"The f*ck is she talking about? If the girl is indeed trying to kill her then she would've already stabbed her fat stomach,"

One of the people murmured and thankfully, Alice wasn't able to hear it and continued to act as if Estelle is going to stab her anytime. "Oh My God! Help me, people!" she overreacted while asking for help but the crowd was just looking at her with their eyes screaming 'pathetic'.

Estelle who had her thoughts completely made up immediately slashed the knife on her hair making numerous people gasp at her sudden reaction. "What?" Alice turned he vision back to her hand and saw that Estell was no longer there, only her long hair that was now cut. Estelle looked back at Alice with no emotions in her eyes, she was done enduring the abuse that Alice gave her.

Alice had abused Estelle ever since she got to hear the fact that her son's girlfriend is a nobody. At first, she tried to ignore Estelle's presence but as time passed by, Calyx together with Estelle would visit the Garcia residence twice a week just to accompany Alice who was now all by herself since her husband died back when Calyx was still a child and Alice would start commanding Estelle numerous chores in just a small amount of time and if she doesn't complete in that allotted time, she would often slap her and telling her that she's no match for Calyx or that she doesn't even deserve to be with Calyx. Estelle tried approaching Calyx about this matter but the man just kept saying that that's his mother's way in people. Estelle who heard this was slightly disappointed in Calyx at that time but it eventually disappeared when Calyx decided to just visit his mother once a month.

"Look, woman..." Estelle started, her eyes showed a different emotion from earlier. Her eyes earlier were showing no emotions but right now, it's as if something had triggered her to behave differently. "...I tried to put up with your attitude but you gave my kindness...a sh*tty treatment," she brushed her hair upwards, she was now finally feeling light that her hair was now cut.

"I was here because I only need one thing..." she said as she walked around, "...and that's definitely not your money...I don't want that since I also have mine you know...I am here right now because I only wanted to know where Calyx is buried," Estelle said, her voice completely calm unlike earlier where it was full of doubts and sadness and all that negative emotions. Her voice and tone right now had confidence in it.

"What just happened?"

Was the only question lingering inside the crowd's minds as they continue to watch Estelle's completely new behaviour. Meanwhile, Alice was dumbstruck at the thing she's currently holding, it was Estelle's hair and when the girl noticed the woman staring at her straight cut hair, she snickered.

"Oh, my hair...well that was your fault," she said as Alice slowly raised her head to look at the girl who completely transformed in front of her, "...but I don't blame you though," she smiled as she played with the knife that was in her hand. "Now Alice..." Estelle smirked but dropped it when she didn't use the word 'madam'. "...oh, sorry...it seems that this servant of yours is now finally departing from your grip," when Alice heard this, her eyes were blinded by hatred and she slowly balled her hands into a fist. She never had an argument with the people around her neighbourhood because people knew her as the 'good madam' but it seems that today will be the end of the title that she had held for the past twenty years, and it was thanks to the girlfriend of her deceased son.

"Kindly hurry and recall your memory Alice, I'm sure that you still have that sharp memory of yours...it would be impossible for it to suddenly disappear when I could clearly remember where you used that sharp memory of yours to remember the teeny tiny mistakes that I made inside your house and I would often get slapped at?" Estelle said while cutting her uneven hair properly with the knife when she suddenly stopped and also the people around, they were paying their whole attention to Estelle because they were eager to know what Alice's true nature is. "...Oh! It slipped!" she acted as if she didn't mean it but it only added more fuel into Alice's anger.

"Hurry Alice, my patience is slowly thinning but it's still longer than yours. I remembered the time where you ordered me to brew you a coffee in three minutes but normally, it would take approximately five minutes...right folks?" Estelle smiled in the crowd that was still surrounding them. "...but right after I finished making the coffee that took five minutes and then served it to you, you got angry and told me that your patience was not meant to be wasted so you poured the hot coffee into me which made me suffer for three days because of the burns I had," Estelle said making the people shocked by her sudden confession.

"Oh my, what a poor girl..."

"D*mn, I didn't know that Alice Garcia had that temper,"

"I feel pity for the girl's hair..."

These were the comments the people around them made. Estelle smirked as she was getting closer to her goal which is tarnishing Alice's reputation in their neighbourhood to the point where she'll be unable to go out as she wanted.

"...so my patience...is also like yours. It's getting thinner every time so I do appreciate that you'll tell me where Calyx is buried," Estelle said as she arranged her newly cut hair while the knife in her hands, "Alice-" Estelle wasn't able to move when she felt a sting in her cheek and when she touched it, it had blood. The sight of it made Estelle close her eyes, it was not because she was terrified by the sight of it but because of the memories she had in her childhood that had blood on almost every day, it was either her blood, her father's of her mother's.

"Hah!" Estelle exclaimed when she finally collected herself from her sudden panic. "LOOK, PEOPLE! THIS WOMAN TRIED TO KILL ME JUST NOW!" Estelle copied the same expression that Alice had on her face when she acted as if Estelle was going to kill her. Alice's eyebrows met when she saw the reaction from Estelle and commented, "what a dramatic b*tch."

It was now Estelle's turn to raise her brows and then smirked before saying, "oh! It's good that you finally realized how dramatic of a b*tch you were!" Estelle laughed and the people soon followed her. Alice turned red, because of anger, embarrassment and confusion all at once. "Why are you pertaining to me when you're the one who acted...are you dumb?" Alice laughed out loud but heard no laughter from the crowd and so she shut her mouth and gave Estelle some deathly glares which Estelle kindly replied with a smile.

"I was not pertaining to myself Alice Garcia, I was pertaining to you...I just followed your exact emotions and your acting earlier when you accused me of trying to kill you," Estelle laughed again but this time Alice pushed her hard and made her fall to the ground, "YOU F*CKING B*TCH I HAD ENOUGH OF YOU, YOU HUMILIATED ME IN FRONT OF MY PEOPLE AND TARNISHED MY REPUTATION...IF CALYX HEARD THIS THEN HE'LL HAUNT YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR MISERABLE F*CKING LIFE!" Alice vented her anger towards Estelle's face, she punched, slapped and threw insults in front of Estelle but it seems that it has no effect on Estelle anymore because ever since she was a child, she was bathed with insults almost every day.

When people saw this they immediately acted and separated Alice from Estelle's now bruised face but not long after, Alice fought from the people who grabbed on her and made her was to Estelle once again. 'Now your reputation will surely hit rock bottom,' Estelle thought as she let the woman continue abusing her face while people around them were in panic just to separate Alice from her. It continued like that for five minutes when suddenly a voice shouted.

"STOP!" the voice was authoritative and as if on instinct, the people stopped and also Alice who was beating the sh*t out of Estelle. The man slowly made his way inside the commotion and pushed Alice hard enough for her to kiss the pavement. The man lifted Estelle in bridal style and left the scene.

Estelle also looked at the man who carried her and noticed that it was the doctor from the hospital, 'Luke.'
