Walking towards the bridge was an easy task to do if you're just passing by. But for someone whose going through a lot of pain and decides to end their life there makes it hard. Why? Because on their way there, memories come flooding in, not just those sorrowful memories but also happy ones that might make a person re-think his or her decision.
But in Estelle's place? Sure, happy memories made their way into her mind but it did not help her, instead, it urged her to end her life so that she'll be with her love once again. Because for her, without Calyx...her life no longer had its meaning.
---
"Telle! Come here," Calyx's voice rang into Estelle's ear and she immediately left her work and turned to look at her lover, "hmm?" she replied with a hum and came near to Calyx.
"You see this?" Calyx showed Estelle his fist and this made the girl tilt in her head in confusion, "Yeah, what's with that?" she asked, studying the closed fist that her lover showed her.
"It's a heart!" he opened his fist and showed Estelle his paper cut heart. Though the cutting was a mess and the paper is now crumpled, Estelle still smiled at her lover's effort. "Why are you showing me this all of the sudden?"
"To show how much I love you!" Calyx said with a smile that perfectly defined his handsomeness.
---
Estelle who had remembered this precious memory broke down once again, her loud wails echoed throughout the bridge making people look at her, weirded out by her sudden breakdown.
"AHHHH!!" she shouted as she buried her face into her palms and continued to sob. People who were passing by wanted to comfort her but her face and situation makes it impossible to come near her. I mean, who would comfort a girl with her shirt covered in puke, hair now a mess and accompanied by her loud wailings.
"Mommy, should we help her?" a kid who was passing by spared a stare at Estelle who was busy crying. The kid wanted to help her so bad but the mother makes it impossible for her kid to do so, "no, she might be crazy, baby, and she might want to harm you," the mother said to her kid and protectively made her kid walk far away from Estelle and Estelle who heard it gave the mother a glare, though the mother never saw it as they had already passed her.
"I'm now crazy huh?" Estelle asked herself and stared at the river below her. "Since people found me weird then I should just disappear, right?"
"After all, nobody wants me...after Calyx died, nobody wants me anymore!" she shouted at the top of her lungs and climbed at the bridge's railings making the people around her scream, most of them shocked at Estelle's actions. Some were trying their best to persuade Estelle to not continue what she's planning but some were even encouraging her to continue.
'Some good people they indeed are!'
"Girl, please, don't do this!"
"Continue what you're doing!"
"Your life is precious. Things are waiting for you...God is good!" a religious person said and in return, Estelle just scoffed as she faced the people who were swarming over her like bees.
These were the kind of sayings that Estelle heard from the people around her. Some were encouraging him and some were opposing her and as she got tired of their sermons, especially from those religious people, she decided to answer them.
"Then if this God that you all believe truly exists then why? Why? did he give me this suffering? Why did he take my loved one away from me?" she started crying again but her eyes had no longer held emotions. It was just her eyes doing the work, maybe because of all her pent up tears that she had perfectly hidden all these years.
"God has his reasons, that's why he did-"
"Reason? Can he tell me what I did in the past for me to deserve this f*cking life?! I was abused! Since I was a child, I was abused...!" she repeated, "...I was f*cking abused because of being born as a girl and not a boy, I was abused both mentally and physically! Now tell me the main reason why your God gave me this sh*tty life?!"
Estelle's question made all the people surrounding her quiet. Seconds passed, murmurs were heard and the bridge was occupied causing traffic to the road, it was as if a celebrity was there.
"I pity her," was the most phrase heard throughout the scene.
"Now go mind your own d*mn business and let me end my sh*tty life right now, that is if you pity me," Estelle smirked and turned her back from the crowd as she stared at the darkness emitted by the river just right below her.
"Here I come, Lyx," was the last thing Estelle said before she faced the crowd and threw herself down the river. It was as if everything became in slow motion, people were looking at her figure falling down and she saw everything, their worried faces. Looking at this one last time made Estelle smile.
'So people around me can also make this kind of expression huh?'
Just right then, her memories with Calyx flashed back in her mind but this time, she was actually happy, happy that she will be reunited with her love after this sinful thing she had committed.
---
"Tel, I really love you!" Calyx screamed as he hugged Estelle tightly making the girl have a hard time breathing.
"I, too, Calyx, I love you...even more than my life," Calyx separated the hug when he heard Estelle say the last phrase. "What are you talking about? 'Even more than my life'?..." he asked as he glared at the girl who was pouting.
"Estelle, don't say that, you have to treasure your life, if you can't do it for yourself then do it for me."
---
"Sorry Calyx but I'm selfish..." she said as she smiled.
When she was about to hit the water, a figure in white jumped from the bridge and followed her.
