“I’m sorry what?” I whispered as a numbing fog crept through my head.
I watched Autumn’s face flinch at the same time she took a step forward.
“I should have told you.“ I watched her swallow. “Nicholas and I are cousins, Wendy.”
I stared at her worried face.
I didn’t know what to say.
I didn’t know what to feel.
I couldn’t think.
I could barely breathe.
All I felt was numbness at that point. Like my brain had shut down completely. Forcing my body to move, I turned around and looked at the sky, shaking myself, breathing out to regain my senses.
