Roan stared at his cellphone that laid dark in his hand with a sigh. His brother, Liam, had been calling him incessantly for the past two hours. Finding a secluded spot along the shoreline, he sat on a driftwood log, the distant laughter of beachgoers and his friends reminding him that his brother was interrupting what was supposed to be a peaceful beach outing with his friends. Roan’s cellphone came to life, buzzing once more in his hand, his brother’s name illuminated on the screen.
