I came out of my en suite to find that Emily had gone. It was probably for the best. I had to do some work, organise meetings with the Alphas of the neighboring packs. Look over the terms of various treaties our pack held with others. See if there were any changes to make. Peace between the packs in the area needed to be maintained, and it's best that I'm not distracted. I dried myself off with a towel and threw on some jeans and a t-shirt before heading down to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
Kyle was sitting on a bar stool at the island eating a bowl of Rice Krispies soaked in milk when I walked in.As I sorted out a bowl of Coco Pops for myself he spoke.
"I know your my Alpha and my best mate, but if you hurt her in anyway I won't forgive you. Ever."
I paused what I was doing and looked him in the eye. He was serious. I'd never seen him so serious in all the time that I've known him.
"I know, and I have no intention of hurting her. You should also know..." I took a deep breath before continuing, after all we were talking about the girl who was like a sister to him. "She accepted me, last night, as her mate. But we're keeping it to ourselves for now. At least until she's finished her exams. She also told me about her wolf and that your going to help her train. I appreciate it, truly."
"It was her idea, she wants to be strong for you and when she becomes Luna she's going to need to be able to defend herself."
"I'd best be getting on. Lots to prepare for. You relax today and tomorrow too, Monday is going to be hectic." I took my bowl of Coco Pops down the hall to what was now my office.
I looked around the room. It had two large windows looking over a private part of the larger garden. The walls were lined floor to ceiling with crammed bookshelves, installed by my great grandfather, who was an avid collector of books. A large wooden desk, I think my father said it was mahogany, sat in the middle of the room. My laptop was already there, along with the stack of files filled with information about the neighboring packs which my father had left for me. I sat down with a sigh and started going through the first file, it was on the Vale pack, while eating my breakfast. This was going to take a while and would be very tedious. I wasn't much of a reader.

I opened my suitcase and pulled out a pair of tired old jogging bottoms and a comfy t-shirt before heading to the en suite. I had a quick shower to freshen up and got dressed before starting to unpack. I put all my clothes in the chest of drawers. I didn't have many and what I did have was all second hand from a charity shop in town. The few dresses I owned went in the large wardrobe and I lined up my shoes in the bottom; my trainers, a pair of ballet pumps, the high heels Chris got me and my beloved converse which I'd saved up for for all of last summer when I had a job waitressing in a cafe in town. I moved on the unpacking the boxes next, putting my old CD player on one of the nightstands along with the few CDs I own next to it; Funhouse by P!NK, Handwritten by Shawn Mendes, American i***t by Green Day and Crazy Love by Micheal Bublé, which had been my mother's favourite. My mascara and lipstick went on the dressing table along with my laptop, which I only had because school told my grandparents that I had to have one, but even then it was my Christmas present. It wasn't the best but it got the job done. My other toiletries; toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and deodorant all went in the en suite and that was everything. I was all unpacked.
I took another look around my new room and spotted my old teddy bear tucked up in the bed against one of the pillows. Chris must have done that. He's the only person that knew just how much that bear meant to me. I smiled to myself before putting my suitcase under the bed and collapsing the boxes before shoving them under the bed as well. I sat down at my laptop and pulled out my textbooks for Biology and Maths. Thankfully that was the only homework I had to do for Monday. I started with the Biology.
After a couple of hours I'd finished my Biology homework and had started on my Maths homework when there was a knock on the bedroom door, but before I could respond, Sam walked in with a plate of sandwiches and a glass of water.
"Thought you might be hungry. Kyle said you've not been down to get anything to eat all day and I was finished with my work for today so decided to make you sandwich. Hope you like ham." He said with a shy smile. My tummy growled loudly, making him chuckle and me blush. My wolf whimpered hearing his voice. "I'll take that as a yes then." He smiled.
"Thanks, I hadn't realised how late it was. Not even thought about food, just wanted to get on with stuff."
"I get that. Here." He passed my plate. Once it was in my hand he snaffled on of the sandwiches for himself.
"Hey! I thought they were for me."
"I'm sure you can spare just one for your poor, lonely and starved mate." He pouted at me and gave me big puppy eyes, making me laugh. "Besides I made quite a few."
"I suppose I can spare one" I took a bite and let out a small moan. "Thanks, they're good" I turned back to my Maths homework and continued while munching my way through the sandwiches. I heard him move around the room behind me, opening drawers, the wardrobe and looking in the en suite before finally sitting on the bed. I let out a small sigh trying to ignore him and focus.
"So how do you like your room? He asked breaking the brief silence that had settled.
"It's nice, bigger than my old one and I didn't have my own bathroom either." I answered his question without turning around to look at him.
"You don't have much stuff. I thought all girls had loads of stuff, clothes, shoes, makeup and whatever else girls like"
""Firstly, I doubt I'm like any of they girls you'd have spent time with and secondly, my grandparents didn't like spending money on me, they only provided me with the bare necessities of what I needed and usually it was second hand." I was starting to get irritated with him now. "Look, I've got to finish this Maths homework, it's due on Monday and I'd like to relax tomorrow, so either be quiet or leave."
"Of course, sorry." I heard him lie back on the bed.
It was quiet for about an hour, in which time I'd managed to do all bar one of the questions of my Maths homework. I heard Sam move on the bed behind me. Heard him step up behind my seat. Felt his body heat radiating on to my back.
"What's with the bear?" He asked. I spun around in my chair so fast I almost fell on to the floor. I saw him gently holding my bear in one of his large hands. I snatched my bear from him, he jumped slightly at my reaction.
"He's all I have left." I said in a small voice, holding the bear close. I didn't really want to talk about it.
"Left of what?"
"My parents." My voice was barely audible.
"Oh, I'm sorry Emily. I should have realised."
"It's fine, but please don't touch him though." I turned back to my homework, ending the conversation. I sat my bear on the dressing table, leaning against the mirror. The next thing I know Sam's chin is resting on my shoulder, arms wrapped loosely around me. I glanced down to see that he'd knelt down.
"You almost finished?" He whispered.
"If someone hadn't been so distracting, making lots of noise and asking lots of questions then I would've been done twenty minutes ago." I murmured into his ear. He let out a small groan and shivered slightly. He didn't say anything else, just watched as I finished the last question. I put down my pen and turned to him. He looked confused and a little awestruck.
"You okay there Sam?" I couldn't keep the smile off of my face.
"You must be really smart Princess."
"I suppose I get got grades."
"And modest too." He looked at me now, our eyes meeting. "And your mine. My mate." There was a slight possessive tone to his words which had an affect on me.
"And I'm your mate." I said quietly. I watched as he leant towards me. His eyes growing dark, I was sure mine were doing the same. Our breath mixed together. I closed my eyes. His lips brushed mine, hands moving to my waist. Suddenly he picked me and I had to wrap my arms around his neck to steady myself. He stepped backwards until his knees hit the mattress and he fell down. I squealed slightly. He kept me pinned to his chest, kissing me, nuzzling my neck and nibbling my ear lobe. I let out a yawn and he stopped his attentions to yawn as well. Before long we were both drifting off to sleep. He still had me pinned to his chest.
