Chapter Eight

Sunday came and went. I spent the morning relaxing in bed reading while Sam and Kyle did their regular training session out in the garden. In the afternoon Sam had some more work to do so disappeared into his office and Kyle gave me a tour of the house. He showed me where Sam's office was, the dinning room, the gym, the living room, his own office and a couple of empty rooms one which was once a playroom. Upstairs in the house was just bedrooms; Sam'd, Kyle's, mine and three others without en suites and a family bathroom. Kyle and I went to the supermarket after I made a list of what we needed for the week. That evening I cooked for them for the first time. I did roasted belly pork with vegetables and roasted potatoes, with chocolate mousse for pudding. They devoured it as though they hadn't had a home cooked meal in months. There weren't any leftovers. Kyle did the dishes, Sam finished some paperwork and I had a long wallowy bath before going to sleep.         On Monday morning I woke up early to get ready for school. My backpack was already by my door with everything I needed for the day ahead of me inside. I quickly jumped in the shower and washed my hair. Wrapping a towel around myself, and brushing my teeth I walked out of the bathroom in to my bedroom. I stopped in my tracks seeing Sam lying on my bed with his feet still on the floor. Sam P.O.V         I knocked on her door but got no response, so I poked my head into her room. Hearing the shower running in the bathroom I slipped into her room and sat at the foot of her neatly made bed. I lent back and before I knew it my eyes were drifting shut.         I felt someone watching me. Blinking my eyes open and rubbing away the sleep with my hands. I pushed myself up on to my elbows to see her smirking at me. Emily. My mate. She was wearing nothing but a towel, running her fingers through her wet hair.         "Nice nap Sam?" A shiver ran down my spine when she said my name.         "Yeah, wanted to make sure you had everything for school."         "Just need to get dressed and grab something for lunch."         "I don't mind you wearing a towel." I could feel my wolf trying to take control. She stepped towards me. Standing between my legs but not touching me, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.         "So you wouldn't mind all those human boys seeing my bare legs and bare shoulders and wondering if I'm naked underneath?" I let out a growl as my pulse quickened. Her smirk grew as she stepped away from me and turned towards her chest of drawers. I let my head fall back and took some deep breaths. I stood up and walked behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. Nuzzling my face into her neck I whispered:         "No other man or boy can touch what's mine." She shivered but not from the chill of having wet hair.         "And no other woman should dare touch what's mine." She whispered, turning in my arms. The towel loosened and fell to the floor. My eyes went dark, I could tell, as she wrapped her arms around my neck. Her smirk returned as she pressed her naked body into my clothed one. She was teasing me. I gulped.         "You should wear the black skinny jeans and one of those basic t-shirts. I'll make you some sandwiches for lunch. Can I drive you there?"         "I'll walk, it's not that far and it helps to clear the fog from my head. I'll be back by four though."         "Okay Princess. I'll see you downstairs." I placed a chaste kiss to her forehead and left before I lost all control. Emily P.O.V         I threw on the clothes Sam suggested and put on my beloved converse. They were high tops, mottled denim blue with neon pink lining and soles. I grabbed my backpack and ran downstairs to the kitchen to find Sam wrapping up some ham and cheese sandwiches for me. He put them in a Tupperware box with and apple and a small bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate. He snapped the lid shut and handed it to me, reaching up to caress my cheek while I put it in my backpack.         "No makeup today?" He asked         "Not my thing, only wore it on Friday evening because my grandmother told me to."         "You're more beautiful without it."         "Thanks Sam. I'd better get going, don't want to be late."         "See you later Princess." He placed a soft kiss on my forehead and let me go.         I headed out the front door and made my way toward school. The walk was through a small woodland before I hit the town, then a few streets of houses before the road leading to school. It wasn't more than a twenty minute walk before I could see the stream of other students heading through the gates. I almost felt normal again. As though the weekend had never happened. I kept my head down, making my way into the crowd. I became invisible once again.         My first lesson was Maths. I handed in my homework before sitting down at my desk in the second row next to the window. The rest of the class slowly came in and settled down as the teacher started the lesson. About half way through the lesson I felt a prickle on the back of my neck. Goosebumps rose on my forearms, despite it being a hot June day. I glanced out of the window but I couldn't see anything or anyone so I refocuses on my work in front of me.         At the end of the lesson I made my way to the library to finish my notes during the morning break. After half an hour the bell rang to signal the start of the next lesson. I gathered my belongings and made my way to the Science lab. Just as I was pushing the door open I felt a prickle on the back of my neck again. I spun round and saw green eyes looking at me. I blinked. The eyes were gone. Shaking my head, thinking I was imagining things I went into the Science lab.         The lesson before lunch I had a free period so I plugged my headphones in (another item I'd saved up for one summer while working) and made my way outside to sit under the Silver Birch tree on the edge of the sports field. I pulled my battered copy of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte out of my backpack.         I was vaguely aware of the lunch bell ringing and all the other students making their way out of the building to enjoy the warm, clear, sunny afternoon. I settled back into my book while eating my sandwiches.         After about ten minutes something tapped the bottom of my foot. I looked to see two large trainer Vans clad feet. I followed the legs upwards until I found a face. A boy, or rather a young man was looking down at me, smiling. The owner of the green eyes outside the Science lab. I slowly closed my book and slid my headphones down around my neck.         "Can I help you?" I asked politely.         "What's your name?" He asked.         "Emily, and you are?"         "William, nice to meet you. Are you new here too?"         "No, I've been with these people since I was six at primary school, but I take it you are new. I've never seen you before."         "Sorry, thought since you were by yourself you might be new as well. I just transferred from the school on the other side of town. Kind of embarrassing but I had to re-do my final year. Not exactly the academic type."         "Sorry to hear that, can't be easy."         "It's not so bad." He said while sitting down opposite me. "I was wondering if you could help me with my Maths, I'm in your class and you seemed to understand it."         "I don't see why not, but... I can't believe I'm saying this because I doubt your hitting on me but I do have a boyfriend."         "He's more than just a boyfriend though, isn't he?" My head snapped up, William had a knowing smirk on his lips. "Our kind don't have boyfriends or girlfriends at our age."         "You... you're a..." I stammered.         "I'm a wolf like you, yes and don't worry, I've already found my mate. She's still at my old school, but dad thought it would be best if I moved to do my exams, less distractions as I'm sure you understand."         "Hmm" I just hummed my agreement, still in shock that there was another wolf, from another pack sat in front of me.         "Although, dad said there weren't any wolves here, only humans. I take it you belong to the Stour pack then."         "Yeah, um, new addition you could say."         "Didn't the Alpha just hand over to his son this weekend?"         "Yeah, he did." I could feel the blush creeping across my cheeks just from thinking about Sam.         "I'm guessing from your pink cheeks that Samuel Carson is your mate."         "No one knows, please you can't tell anyone." I blurted out before I could stop myself.         "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me, and I won't tell my dad that there's another wolf here. You guys must have your reasons for keeping you hidden from the other packs and for hiding your relationship."         "We're waiting until I've finished my exams before telling anyone."         "Why are you the only Stour wolf here? No others our age in the pack? How old are you anyway?"         "No others our age in the pack, Sam is the closest in age and then there's an eight year gap before the next youngsters, so there still at primary school. I guess I was a bit of an anomaly. I was eighteen last Thursday." He went slightly white hearing my age and birthday. "You okay William?"         "Oh, um, yeah. It's just your the same age as my little sister. Or you would be. Her birthday would be in June too."         "I'm so sorry you lost her."         "It's not that she died. My mum left when she was pregnant, I was only one."         "How could she leave her mate? And her baby?"         "My parent's weren't actually mates. An arranged marriage of sorts. She was only seventeen when I was born."         "My parents abandoned me when I was six. I was raised by my dad's parents." The bell rang for the start of the next lesson. "I have to get to class. Meet me in the library afterwards and I'll help you with your Maths. See you later William." William P.O.V         Like that she was off across the field to her next lesson. She seemed so familiar to me but I couldn't put my finger on why. I slowly got up and headed for the changing rooms. I had P.E next and was running late. If only I didn't have to hide what I was I could get there in time but if a someone saw me run that fast there'd be questions and dad wouldn't be happy.
