Grandpa didn't cry for long. Five minutes after I left his office (I barely had time to wash my hands and sit at the table), he appeared, walking briskly, his smile too wide for somebody who had just been crying. Was he going crazy now? I hope not. As nice as Billie is, one ill person is enough in a family. "Are you feeling alright, Gramps?" I asked. "Yes," he said, way too cheerfully.
