Lexi sighed. "Ryan, please open the door." She said as calmly as possible, and to her surprise, he opened the door. His eyes once again changed colors. "Please come with us." She said as he growled, "You're so stupid! I could be out with my friends, and you want me to go to a stupid dinner?!" Lexi felt her anger grow. "No, I want you to stop being a w***e for 15 minutes for my birthday, maybe that should be my wish!" Lexi yelled as Ryan slammed the door in her face. She went to walk away noticing her dress was caught under the door. "Ryan, my dress is caught", He said as she heard a snipping sound and her dress fell to the ground, leaving a small circle at the bottom." You cut my damn dress!" She yelled anger beyond boiled over as Ryan opened the door with a evil smile on his face. "I think this is yours" He said laughing, before he could move Lexi slapped him so hard he fell backwards "You're a prick, I can't wait to hear back from Cloverdale University and get the hell out of here, so I won't be around you anymore." She barked walking downstairs as Vivian and Mike stood there looking at a shocked Ryan, who looked like his whole heart had just shattered. No one knew Lexi had planned on going on a hunt to find her mom, nor that she was planning on moving to start her college experience.
Vivian felt her heart break as she followed behind the birthday girl, "Lexi." She said quickly and quietly. Lexi was sitting on the couch holding her dress to the side where it was ripped. "Lex, are you sure that is what you want?" She said, sitting beside Lexi on the couch. "I didn't mean for you to find out that way. I was going to tell you tomorrow." Lexi admitted, which made it more real for Vivian. "Lexi, you have been my little girl for years, even though I don't want you to go. I would never force you to stay. You have your own needs and wants. All I want is for you to be happy." Vivian hugged her as Lexi hugged back. "Thank you, and as much as it pains me to say. I think being away from Ryan would help me be a bit happier. He's been a tool since he turned 17 and I don't understand why." Lexi said looking down at the floor letting the dress fall. "He's just getting his big head, all males go through with it. I'm sure Mike did too, but you see what a little love and tenderness can do." She said with a smile. "If you say so." Lexi said softly hugging Vivian once more.
"We are ready" Lexi heard pulling away, seeing Ryan with his head down but in a nice suit and Mike the same way. "Here" Ryan said, handing her the fabric he had cut. "I'm really sorry." He spoke softer almost like he was holding back tears, which couldn't be the case because Ryan never cried. "Thank you." Lexi said taking it and folding it up and put it in her purse which hung on the hook near the door. "So, let's go." Mike said before opening the door for everyone. Lexi grabbed her jacket, which was just a jean jacket and clashed horribly with the dress and her purse. "You know you can leave the jean jacket and if you get cold you can borrow mine." Ryan said as she shook her head. "No, thanks." Even though she had accepted his apology he had been so rude to her, she was sure she would just freeze to death before he gave up his jacket. Ryan's head went back down as he walked outside as Lexi followed with Mike closing and locking the door behind them. "Have you really forgiven him?" Mike whispered to Lexi as she shook her head no. "This is a beautiful dress, and he ruined it. I'm not a kid anymore. This stuff is expensive, and I can only guess how much you guys spent on it. It's not fair he can be a brat and I just have to accept it." She said about to walk down the steps and stumbled as Mike grabbed her arm to steady her "That slap was pretty good though." He nodded as she giggled "Thanks, it was a long time coming." She said giggling as they got into a limo he had waiting for them.
Lexi and everyone sat inside the limo with a slightly awkward silence. Lexi was able to read minds and everyone was blocking her out. Which was making her nervous. She picked at the dress and kept her eyes away from everyone. "So, how's school going Ryan?" Vivian finally spoke as Ryan just nodded "It's fine, you know the same thing as always." He admitted and that was about it. "Lexi?" Mike asked as she looked up "Oh perfect. I did make the honor roll." She said with a shrug as they smiled. "That is amazing! You work so hard." Vivian praised her as she just gave a half smile and went back to picking at the dress. "We are here" Mike finally said as the driver stopped in front of the fanciest restaurant in their town, which also happened to be owned by them. "I hope this place is okay. I know we come here a lot." Mike added as Lexi smiled "Its fine, and very lovely." She said, getting out and looking at the building which had fairy lights lining the door and ramp to get in. It had flowers laced around the ramp and handles. "Woah, I don't think I have ever seen it like this." She said happily, even though it was just a small gesture and nothing big. She loved it.
Ryan kept back to the side as he noticed her eyes lit up and, for once that night, he finally smiled just looking at her. She looked like a child looking at Christmas lights. It made him feel like flying knowing he had helped do this and the outcome was her beautiful smile that lit up the night sky. "I really hope you like it Lexi." Mike said, about to give praise to Ryan, who shook his head. Lexi looked over, seeing Ryan shaking his head quickly and his eyes dropped once more. Lexi looked confused but kept walking inside, seeing the whole school inside. Her spirit fell. She wasn't popular like Ryan, let alone all these kids had to be there because of him. She hated crowds, she hated most people, she didn't talk to anyone and most people here knew that she was a hybrid and mocked her for it. "You said I couldn't go out, so happy birthday Lex" Ryan said walking over to his friends who was already drinking a dark liquid. Lexi held her tears as she looked around feeling everyone stare at her and mocking her inside her head due to reading minds."I-I-I can't." She said rushing out the door breaking her heel on the ramp and falling. Her tears finally came to as she took her heels off throwing them as she sat on the ramp crying into the most beautiful dress she had ever had.
